UK Police Probe Cop Telling Nigerian Women 'Do Not Call Police On Your Husbands' (30799 Views)
Santalpharay: 7:07am On Sep 13, 2024 |
In reality check, if all Nigerian families should move to UK or America, 2/3 of the families will end up in divorce, separation and other turbulence dealing with marriages over there. The results are all these children raised to be misbehaving, and when they grow up and get married, their marriages also collapse like that of their parents. Oyibo people has lost family values unlike Africans and it is a disappoinment seeing Africans following in their footsteps. Learn to sort some minor issues with your spouse at home. Am not saying that one must stay back in abusive marriages but our women don't know how to manage their new found "power once they travel to Europe. And that is exactly what the officer is trying to explain.

1stGenAmerican: My God! He was speaking to Yoruba women abroad and the best way to communicate to them is their native language. You communicate in language people understand better to achieve the purpose of communication. It's like you asking why a social radio drama is delivered in native language even though it has English Title... 3 Likes |

Kobojunkieee: In short, you as a man or a woman, are in search of a man that meets all your emotional and financial needs, a saint and a god. If you're not married, you're definitely waiting for godot. If you can't accept and accommodate others' differences and use bearable human weaknesses to define the need to dissolve marriage you are meant to live all your life alone without friend, brother or even neighbor to associate with. |

babtoundey: Thanks to the foolish man, all Nigerian police officers will be watched and monitored closely going forward as being domestic violence friendly. Also there will be strict instructions that they only communicate in English. And there will be immediate reviews of any non English communications. Rest assured that all UK police of Nigerian origin are now under a searchlight. The met police are undoubtedly reading this and other threads, seeing the casual attitudes towards domestic violence, and planning on vetting of all Nigerian police officers. It will now likely be much harder for Nigerians to get hired as police. Another own goal by foolish Nigerians thinking they are smarter than dumb white men. 5 Likes 3 Shares |

The fact that you consider therapy fraudulent is a great indication that you might be in need their services. People who need introspection, self reflection and self ability are often the ones who hate to do it the most 2 Likes 1 Share |

lagosrd: It would have been better if it was a new video. Because it is an old video there will be a much deeper investigation and a review of multiple DV cases/calls that were handled by Nigerian police officers. This is not naija police where there are no records. Police work is about records and paperwork. God help any Nigerian policeman who was dieing dv cases on his watch. It will all come out now. If that video 2as recent they would assume it was a one off. But an old video indicates it may be an endemic issue 3 Likes 1 Share |

I think one just have to mind our business and behave well abroad ,Otherwise there will be a big challenges dealing with such issues when both parties return home. |

OALandAgents:Don't you think the individual involved is better equipped to decide if to report or not? I must be a NL women because I called out the unprofessionalism of the cop in this video, right? Are you aware that the current laws on domestic issues in the west were made by men-dominated assemblies? That said, you and the man wants to enforce Nigerians tolerance of abuse in the UK. People must never say anything to outsiders unless when taking their last breath, right? The only thing that has changed is your location and income assuming you have been to the UK before as you insinuate. Trying to scare potential abuse reporters again? Children are seized when both parents are incompetent. Another scare tactic. You are trying to use racism argument to rationalise covering up abuse. More like shut up and take the abuse because white police are racist. People should be free to use alternatives if they want but not discouraged from reporting by a man in police uniform. But if it is the typical Nigerian alternative to domestic abuse resolutions. It usually goes like this; The wife is told to be more patient, tolerant and stop challenging the lord of the house and she is reminded that her mother went through similar issues and her endurance was rewarded by successful children. The husband is urged to be more considerate and merciful which an abusive person will ignore because he has just been validated as the alpha and omega of his own home. Why should he give an inch? When you create incentives where there is no consequence to violence or abuse, the society becomes more violent and vice versa. 5 Likes 4 Shares |

lagosrd: Help out on marital issues? In the west, your neighbours will call the police if they suspect dv. Schools will call child protection if they suspect child abuse. THIS IS THE LAW. It is not the place of a police officer to advise people to subvert the law. That is what the man was doing. It is like a police officer saying yahoo is actually not that bad. If you want to maintain a Nigerian attitude then stay in Nigeria. Do not think you can transplant a Nigerian attitude outside Nigeria. Stop thinking your hosts are fools who will stand by and let you being in Nigerian culture. It is Nigerians too who go abroad and start trying to date small girls because they can get away with it in Nigeria. You cannot eat your cake and have it 4 Likes 1 Share |

GloriousGbola: Watch the audience he was talking to and watch the settings. This was I mean people from his country , Africans , say blacks with certain shared cultural beliefs and way of life. He wouldn't have said that in the public domain and I honestly don't think the man overstepped his boundaries except for the fact that he is one foreign soil where those kind of advice may land you I to trouble. Cos government is Interested in everything you do including your private life. 1 Like 1 Share |

lagosrd: The audience he was with are they in Nigeria? The audience he was with was he there as himself or as a representative of the met police? Let me put this is you will understand In Nigeria it is against the law to be gay. An NGO was shut down for promoting lgbtq. It does not matter if gays have rights in the west. It does not matter if the NGO was promoting human rights. Can a un French national come to a in convention in Nigeria and start advising gays in French in how to by Nigerian laws on gays? This should be simple for you to understand. You cannot promote attitudes that are against the a country's law and against accepted cultural norms, especially hard issues like dv. 2 Likes 1 Share |

GloriousGbola:I saw the headline and was like 'Unbelievable.' Then I opened the video, saw a Black cop, and thought, 'Oh, no wonder.' Then I heard the language and said, 'Ah, na we we,' because I knew deep down that no white cop would give that advice in an official capacity. So I closed the thread and moved on to other important things. You see, a monkey and a baboon may claim oneness, but a monkey is a monkey, and a baboon is a baboon. A Nigerian man is a Nigerian man. 4 Likes 1 Share |

1stGenAmerican: I think your concern is "you don't understand the language" and you strive hard to dissect the information. Now i understand why you must by all means link the message to a totally strange and unrelated context. And mind you, he didn't start with English. He speech from the beginning to the end, is code mixed. His intentions and message have no toxic colouration except the ones the hate filled and toxic feminists ascribed to it. Interpret everything he said into English, check t he context or whatsoever, you will find nothing insinuating domestic violence or abuse of woman. It was all better wishes for children and their women. I don't know why we chose to cry louder than the bereaved. Someone was even shouting "context" "context". So all the women he was addressing were so dumb and daft that the best response and reactions they could give to an advice on abuse on their person in the name of marriage is joviality and agreement. 1 Like 1 Share |

1stGenAmerican: We know what operates on ground, not you. We have experience of this. When police are called, in nearly all cases, they decide in favour of the woman and give the man a curfew not to go near his family for many months or for life. He will be ejected from his house which he pays for and he will have to look for alternative accommodation evebn if it is dead in the night it happens. I have not seen a case where police decide in favour of the man. We who live there know what’s happening. Many marriages have been destroyed because a selfish woman wants to take benefits for single parents. 2 Likes 1 Share |
