Nigerian paratroopers tried pulling this landing off during their independence day celebrations and ended up crashing onto stadium rooftops, trees, billboards, vehicles, toilets, and roads. Its a fairly easy move that Kenyan troopers regularly pull off on such occasions to pinpoint precision. GeneralDae: The fall is not sudden but gradual, starting immediately after you rebased. Nigeria's GDP is just about in its proper place right now at around 180B — The Kenyan GDP is almost catching up at 131B. In fact if Tinubu does not pull up his socks the catchup will be complete before the decade ends. Whichever the case, dont confuse exchange rate dynamics and rebasing, the latter is done to keep up with the evolution in prices. Your president's decision to let the local currency float freely has seen naira lose 70% of its formerly artificially high value, which is exactly what we are seeing because your GDP has dropped nearly 70% from the heydays of the 2014 rebase. Just a point of note, you could have a trillion dollar GDP and I would not say its fake, even though I know it is. I never said so when it was 576. GDP is a very artificial number that depends heavily on how you measure it — exchange rates, inflation adjustments, and rebasing can all drastically shift the figure without reflecting any real change in people’s daily lives. |

QuietMynd: Which figure? I quoted the entire trend and highlighted two significant areas showing the GDP fell from a high of over 500B when you rebased on 2014 to a low of 188 this year, is that outdated? You might need to rebase again or tell your president to do his f#cking job! |

The effectiveness of ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States) and the East African Community (EAC) depends on various factors, including economic integration, political stability, security cooperation, and regional influence. Here's a comparative analysis: 1. Economic Integration ECOWAS: Has a larger economy, with Nigeria as the dominant economic power. The ECOWAS Trade Liberalization Scheme (ETLS) promotes free trade, but non-tariff barriers and weak infrastructure hinder full economic integration. The ECOWAS Common External Tariff (CET) is in place, but full monetary union has faced delays. EAC: More advanced in integration, with a Customs Union (since 2005) and a Common Market (since 2010). The EAC is moving towards a Monetary Union with plans for a single currency. Trade among EAC countries is relatively higher than within ECOWAS. 2. Political and Institutional Strength ECOWAS: Has a stronger political and security influence, intervening in conflicts (e.g., Liberia, Sierra Leone, Mali, and recently Niger) through ECOWAS Monitoring Group (ECOMOG). However, internal political instability and coups (e.g., in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger) weaken governance. EAC: Generally more politically stable, but tensions exist (e.g., Kenya-Tanzania trade disputes and Burundi-Rwanda relations). The bloc has made efforts in political integration, including plans for a Political Federation, but progress has been slow. 3. Security and Conflict Resolution ECOWAS: More proactive in handling conflicts, deploying military forces and sanctions against unconstitutional changes of government. However, enforcement remains inconsistent. EAC: Less active in military interventions, though it has participated in peacekeeping missions (e.g., South Sudan). Security coordination is weaker than ECOWAS. 4. hip and Expansion ECOWAS: Covers 15 West African countries, including major economies like Nigeria, Ghana, and Côte d’Ivoire. Some (e.g., Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger) have recently announced plans to exit ECOWAS. EAC: Has expanded from the original three (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania) to seven , including South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), boosting its economic and geopolitical strength. Overall, if measuring economic integration, the EAC is more effective due to its progress in customs and common market policies. If considering security and political influence, ECOWAS is more effective due to its military interventions and diplomatic efforts. Overall, the EAC is MORE FUNCTIONAL and INTEGRATED, while ECOWAS is stronger in security but faces challenges in economic and political unity. |

PROVERBZ: Wrong again, as usual. Actually, out of all cities mentioned the only one that cannot fail is Northlands city because of who backs it - The Kenyatta Family. This is their baby and they are stopping at nothing to ensure it is the best planned, most advanced city in Kenya. The city comes with its own runway, the Nairobi Gate Industrial Park, and will be hosting multinationals, including UN bodies. The purely industrial zone is already operational with a fully integrated Customs Control Area (CCA) for seamless incorporated customs control - the first in EA. What I'm basically telling you is if you are banking on any project to fail this is definitely not one of them. No doubt Alaro is slumbering along at snail's pace but she has a long way to go. COVID did not stop the construction industry anywhere, in Kenya things continued being built while adhering to mask mandates. We literally built dams and other mega infrastructures during COVID because of eased logistics with the minimal traffic. Nairobi expressway for instance was built from 2020-2022. Was Alaro a unique case? I dont know where you dug the figure 80 from because I quoted 70, which is a figure accessible directly from Tatu City's website https://www.tatucity.com/now-selling/tatu-industrial-park/ And stop lying, Alaro has only 59 businesses https://www.alarocity.com/why-choose-alaro-city/ Where are you digging these figures from? The actual websites of both cities give all this information. Are you more up-to-date than them? As for Konza, you just need to shut up and wait for me to kill you with more pictures in the days to come. This is not Eko Atlantic! Btw, photos below are for Northlands city/Nairobi gate industrial park. The city itself is coming up furiously I can share more photos if you wish.

PROVERBZ: At least we finally get to see a proper aerial. Alaro is trying but is lagging behind his mates Konza and Tatu City which are no longer in this league in of space take up. The industrial zone of Tatu city is already at over 70 companies set up or in their final touches. Alaro will soon be overtaken by the new Northlands city which is coming up super fast. Northlands City, Kenya ▪️This is an ambitious real estate project being set up in an 11,576 Hectares of Land in Ruiru, near Nairobi-Kenya (about 20 KMs from Nairobi) ▪️For context purpose, 11,576 Acres is equivalent to about 47 Sq.KMs (this is nearly equivalent to Roysambu Constituency in Nairobi or more than double Alaro city) ▪️That is, when completed, the Northlands City by area will be equivalent to the famous Roysambu Constituency where many Nigerians set in but never leave once they do ▪️The City is a mixed-use estate comprising residential, industrial, and commercial units ▪️Based on the City's Master Plan, about 3,570 Acres have been set aside for housing; of which, 3,134 Acres are set aside for low density housing 306 acres for high density housing 130 acres for medium density residential housing ▪️The City is planned to house 250,000 people; and assuming its a stand alone City, it would currently be the 9th largest in Kenya by population ▪️Besides the housing, the City is expected to have a Business District sitting on 390 acres of land ▪️Of the above 390 acres, 33 acres are earmarked for a shopping mall and a hotel and 2 acres for a clubhouse ▪️An additional 695 acres have been set aside for construction of an industrial park ▪️The plan for the City is being implemented over 4 phases that will run for nearly 50 years ▪️The Northlands City is currently under progress with some infrastructure underway ▪️The land where the city is being set up is owned by the Kenyatta Family and is currently occupied by Brookside, and Gicheha Farm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcZ-IKscLl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_Rjdb-hwIY 2 Likes |

World's first stratospheric drone launched in Kenya. European aerospace giant Airbus has successfully completed the first stratospheric test flight in Kenya of its high altitude communication drone, which also marked the official launch of this communication technology that is being hailed as a cheaper alternative to Elon Musk's Starlink satellite technology. The drone flew 60,000 feet for over 13 days (20th Jan to 1st Feb) before successfully landing back at the newly constructed and purpose-built AALTOPORT in Laikipia County, Kenya, the first facility of its kind in the world. The port is where the Zephyrs will be assembled, launched and recovered. Zephyr HAPS was equipped with a direct-to-device (D2D) 4G/5G connectivity payload. The system, designed to be compatible with standard smartphones, was tested to evaluate video and data service performance. Additionally, AALTO validated enhancements to Zephyr’s flight envelope, improving stability and overall performance. With Kenya emerging as the company's key operational base, AALTO’s progress signals a new era in high-altitude connectivity, bridging the gap between aerospace and satellite services for global markets. The company plans to set up five AALTOPORTs in total around the world. The longest Zephyr flight conducted to date lasted 64 days, with the aircraft able to reach a maximum altitude of 75,000ft, beating NASA's Pathfinder Helios. The flight was the highest and longest unrefueled flight over Africa yet and allowed the company to begin using its Elvis powered vehicle to launch the aircraft, a process that has traditionally been done by hand. “Through their , national authorities led by the Kenya Space Agency and Kenya Civil Aviation Authority have demonstrated their vision to champion cutting-edge aerospace technologies,” says AALTO, while hailing the African nation’s “pioneering regulatory landscape”. “For many years, we have worked with strategic partners on promoting technological innovation and opportunities across connectivity and Earth-observation markets," Boulnois said. "Now, thanks to the strategic vision of Kenyan regulators, we are one step closer to commercialising the stratosphere." Companies increasingly see Zephyr as a flying cell tower enabling the expansion of mobile network coverage in remote areas where building traditional cell phone masts would be prohibitively expensive. Aalto claims Zephyr can deliver low-latency, high-bandwidth cell phone communications directly to handsets, obviating the need for and cost of building and renting land for dozens or even hundreds of expensive cell towers, depending on the terrain, augmenting existing cell phone networks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0oTU4YWNZs 2 Likes |

I do tend to agree with those who say Africans are their own worst enemies. Instead of accommodating the vulnerable, the politicians find a way to make life even harder for their own people. In the first video, the govt of Ethiopia with its history of youth neglect and repression, and more recently, co-optation through patronage politics, has left young Ethiopians no option but to cross into Kenya each day in search of work where they get exploited as cheap manual labor doing menial tasks. In the second, Uganda after criminalizing LGBTQI+ has left its own people no choice, further increasing the number of asylum seekers seeking refuge in Kenya. A lot of Kenyans dont agree with the global LGBTQ agenda but still tolerate them. You dont have to pile misery onto someone who is already suffering. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AkmiMXSV0A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwRbrURrnRc |

PROVERBZ: You have it backwards, or is it upside down? Eko Atlantic and Konza City are on opposite sides of the spectrum. Eko Atlantic's main purpose was to solve the chronic shortage of real estate in Lagos. On the contrary Konza City is intended to be a technology hub. Both of those cities are geared toward very different purposes. The other difference is that Konza City is wholly GoK-owned while Eko Atlantic is owned by private entities working in strategic partnership with the Lagos State Government and to a lesser extent the Federal Government of Nigeria. At Konza, there is no individual ownership of land, the govt through the Konza Development Authority sets the prices of land. Land is leased for specific uses as outlined in the master plan. The size of land parcels varies depending on the planned use. Since there is no individual ownership of land, there is no cost related to purchasing land. The question of cost therefore flies out the window. You are thinking of Konza city in Eko Atlantic , thats why you are so wrong. How many investors have invested or shown interest in investing in Eko? Just a handful, less than 5 I think, including a church! At Konza as at 27th Jan 2025 there are so far over 140 investors and $1.2 billion in investments fully committed. https://itweb.africa/content/lLn147mQYPA7J6Aa Real estate itself is going to be very cheap because all you need to do as an investor is lease the land at cheap prices then proceed to construct your apartment. Due to this factor, all units within the Konza housing scheme will be offered below market rent rates while staying undifferentiated from market housing. Phase 2 of the project which recently kicked of in earnest will feature housing (Phase 1 did not because it entailed horizontal infrastructure) and thats when we will be here to remind you that Konza is not Eko Atlantic's mate in any shape or form. Give it a max 2-3 years. The likes of Qwetu hostels, a major accommodation brand in Kenya are planning major works at Konza. https://konza.go.ke/project/horizontal-infrastructure-for-phase-1-konza-technopolis/ 2 Likes |

PROVERBZ: I'm surprised at how obsessed you are with Kenya and Tatu City/Konza City. Maybe you should move. Kenya is the third largest entertainment economy in Africa after Nigeria and SA. Kenyans generally love Jamaican, Nigerian, SA, and American music. That doesnt mean we have no local entertainment industry. Other than the two aforementioned countries, no country in Africa beats Kenya on music/entertainment. Not even the hapless Tanzanian entertainment industry comes close. As for the CHAN, I dont even know why that championship exists. We can do with Afcon. That aside, we decided to do a complete overhaul of the existing stadia and build one from scratch in readiness for Afcon. CHAN is a trash competition we have no time for, the continent should move on. The fact that Motsepe is more than happy to have the tournament moved to August should tell you he also knows its a useless competition meant for DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion). Kasarani Stadium is nearly complete with a new roof, new seats, and new modern grass. Nyayo stadium is ready. Talanta Stadium which is being built from scratch is a long way off to be complete Dec 2025. Its meant for football and Rugby so that we can be hosting HSBC series on quality grounds. We have been having a conversation on stadia management in the country and I believe in due time we should be having proper stadia management. Atm our stadia are poorly run. Thats one of our unusually rare weaknesses when it comes to sports. 2 Likes |
