CapitalCee: I had to go and crosscheck the previous pages to be sure it was the same person. The players we have been linked to have the potential to succeed in our team if we have the right system in place but there is no guarantee in sports. I am more interested in us not buying players that can only work in a 3-4-3 system that we might be changing from in 6 months. I also don't want the kind of fees/contracts that will hamstring us for years like ETH did with Antony, Rasmus, Mount, and even Lisandro Martinez. In case these new players fail, they should not become immovable albatrosses around our neck for years. |

Ibime: Strokes are worse than TIAs. By definition TIA only lasts a few minutes to a few hours before there is resolution and full recovery. Those ones that patients recover after a couple of weeks are not technically TIAs but strokes. The recovery is extremely variable. The recovery depends on 1) the part of the brain affected and what functions it is responsible for 2) the size of that part affected 3) the amount of time that lapsed before treatment. 4) the intensity and quality of treatment and rehab provided 5) any co-existing illnesses that might worsen the situation Basal ganglia strokes can be serious because that area is responsible for cognition, executive function, personality, speech co-ordination. For its size it has a lot of function. Ischemic strokes are however generally not as bad as hemorrhagic strokes. From that report it appears he had multiple blockages in different areas of the brain at the same time. It might be useful to carry out an ECG or Echo (if not already done) to make sure he does not have atrial fibrillation or a blood clot in his heart which is dispersing fragments into the brain. You guys should get him to see a specialist neurologist ASAP who can co-ordinate his care. One thing is starting the measures that will aid him on the road to recovery. Things like speech therapy, occupational therapy etc. The other crucial thing is to urgently address his possible risk factors (Hypertension, Dyslipidemia, Diabetes Mellitus, Cardiac arrhythmia) and prevent another more catastrophic stroke because he is right now very vulnerable to another one. 11 Likes 4 Shares |

Ibime: Oh dear, sorry to hear that. Brain MRI, Carotid Doppler Ultrasound, and Echocardiogram could be helpful. As well as the other baseline blood tests. I hope he makes a good recovery. P.S Was he hypertensive? |

raumdeuter: 100%. It can even happen with no obvious symptom. No even the confusion that Ibime mentioned. I have seen loads of patients who have come complaining of their memory or cognition going too rapidly than expected and when we do an MRI, we find out they have had a series of silent strokes, each time losing a chunk of brain cells. Over time the cumulative effect is a progressive cognitive decline. It can also happen whereby rather than a series of small strokes, it is just a single big stroke which causes the decline. The way a stroke behaves depends on which part of the brain is having the stroke. If it is just the part supplying the right arm, it would be the part to be affected. If it is just the part responsible for speech, that is what will be affected. Loss of consciousness usually happens only in the most severe of strokes. It is actually not that common for stroke in my experience. The most critical causes of loss of consciousness that one would commonly come across are often in the heart not the brain. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Ibime: It depends on what caused it. 1) If it is due to a cerebrovascular accident (stroke), which is most likely, then usually the best that can be hoped for is mild to moderate improvement. There is a saying we had when i worked in emergency medicine, "time is brain", which means every minute that es without treatment during a stroke, results in loss of brain cells which could be irreversible. The more severe the initial hypoxic damage and the longer the period of the insult, the greater the likelihood of irreversible damage. There is still a possibility of a slight improvement but one can't bank on that. Most of the focus of future treatment is addressing the risk factors for the stroke in the first place and preventing future strokes. 2) If it is due to other causes like infections, electrolyte imbalances, medications, then those can be corrected with greater possibility of full recovery. 5 Likes 1 Share |

CapitalCee: Yes, if we get those 3 players the attack would look much better. We also need to sign a first choice GK. Then add 2 CMs to potentially come in and start. I suspect that will be the most difficult part of the transfer window. I don't think we will add any WBs or even CBs as things stand. 2 Likes |
