source:https://techcrunch.com/2017/01/10/razers-edge/ During CES, Razer’s booth fell victim to theft. Two prototypes were stolen, and the company’s CEO took to Facebook to post the news. Razer told Polygon that the two prototypes stolen were, in fact, Project Valerie laptops. That’s the device with three 4K screens and a built-in mechanical keyboard. “At Razer, we play hard and we play fair,” he wrote on Facebook. Even further, Razer is now offering a $25,000 reward for information “leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of a criminal suspect.” They mean business. Here’s the full comment: This note is to confirm that two Razer Project Valerie laptop prototypes were stolen from the Razer booth at CES. The product was taken from the Razer press room at approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2017. A $25,000 reward is being offered for original information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of a criminal suspect. Razer, in its sole discretion, will decide who is entitled to a reward and in what amount. Razer may pay only a portion of the maximum reward offered. The decision will be based primarily upon law enforcement’s evaluation of the value of the information provided. When there are multiple claimants, the reward will be shared in amounts determined by Razer. Razer associates are not eligible for the reward. This reward offer is good for one year from the date it is first offered, unless extended by Razer. Information about the theft can be sent to [email protected]. Razer will not publicly disclose material that it receives or details about respondents, except to those persons with whom Razer is directly working to resolve this matter or as may be required by law. This is about more than just losing expensive tech For Razer, there’s the element of corporate espionage at work here. It sounds ridiculous to use a term like that, but it’s true. Consider for a moment that perhaps a greedy convention goer didn’t take the devices. Instead, what if a competitor did in order to crack them open and see what makes them tick? If a company beats Razer to the punch with their own take on these devices, thanks to secrets they learned from their innards, that’s corporate espionage at work. That’s more valuable than two laptops, no matter how crazy they are.

1.) Mediatek: It is a Taiwanese company. It uses more cores in it's processors(like octa core, hexa core, deca core). Battery Life: The mediatek chipsets are known to be more power draining and results in less battery life. Now they are optimizing their processors to be more power efficient but still lags behind their competetion in of battery life. Performance: Performance wise their processors are very good.Due the availability of extra cores, mediatek processors can handle intensive and heavy tasks and they are very good at multi-tasking.But we can see all this practically if we have sufficient Ram.Yes more cores demand more Ram to give best performance. Heating Problem Now coming to the heating problem. All the processors deliver heat while performing tasks. Mediatek processors deliver more heat(more cores=more heat) than the others. Graphics: Coming to graphics,Mediatek employs Mali graphics which is a third party graphics vendor(So graphics architectue is different from u and its performance may not match with u). It is really important to match the performances of u and gpu(graphics) so that the whole chipset performs efficiently and effectively. 2.)Snapdragon: Snapdragon chipsets are manufactured by Qualcomm (American) company. Snapdragon chipsets are not only just U's they incorporate other many processors in their chipsets. This is the main difference between Snapdragon and other chipsets. Snapdragon chipsets are named as SoC's(System on chip) which means their chipsets(SoC's) have a U,GPU(Adreno Graphics),Image processor,Media processor,DSP(Digital Signal Processor),Cellular Modem unit,Wifi Modue,Radio Module,GPS Module,...etc. All these modules and Processors are inside of a snapdragon chip.Yes they incorporated all these things inside their chips.Hence their chips are costly. Battery Life: Snapdragon chipsets are best in of power efficiency compared to all other chipsets. Performance: Performance wise they perform really well. In multi-tasking,gaming,handling heavy and intensive tasks they are very good. Heating Problem: Snapdragon Processors generally deliver less heat compared to Mediatek and Intel Atom(Except the Snapdragon 810 Chipset-that faced many heating issues.) Graphics: Coming to graphics, they manufacture their own graphics called Adreno Graphics and incorporate into their chips. So here the performance of u and gpu are matched. 3.)Intel Atom: Every one is familiar with Intel processors because they are dominant in the PC market. Intel Atom processors are the initiative taken by the company to enter into mobile segment.Intel processors are best in PC's but when it comes to mobile they have faced one problem...! Battery Life: Yes, the problem they faced is Battery life. Intel company has experience in manufactuting processors for PC's which consume power in watts(say 40 watts and above) but when it comes to mobile platform where the processors should run on power less than 5 watts, they had a problem in optimizing their processors to work on low power. Don't worry that is all in the initial stage when they entered into mobile market. But recently in Q3 of 2015 they have announced their Mobile processors called core M-processors for mobile platform like tablets and smartphones. These processors are very power efficient and they consume power of 5 watts and below. But we may only see them in Smartphones or Tablets in 2016. Performance: Performance wise, i think i don't need to tell you how Intel Processors do. They are very good both at PC's and on Mobile. Heating Problem: Intel Atom Processors also deliver more heat when running heavy and U intensive tasks or while using for long duration.Let us see how their core M-Processors perform. Graphics: Intel, till now used third party graphic vendors like Power VGR and Mali graphics in their U's. Intel also have their own graphics called Intel Iris Graphics which they introduced in their 4th generation core i-series processors for PC's. I am not sure but i have read somewhere that core M-Processors have Intel Graphics built in. Let us see them in 2016. After briefing all these things 3 Likes |

ultmatmus:It's not really that the Pascal graphics cards are more power efficient than Maxwell or Kepler generation. its a thing with technology as it grows, something called Moore's law where each generation the number of transistors that fit on a u die increases Mini itx motherboard might not fit two gpus |

It's not a new thing tho It's also not a really good Idea to use another charger for iPhones cos they mess up the phone nd the battery I have three friends who used to use fake chargers for their iPhones but it didn't go well with them just buy a good charger head /adapter and u should be fine if u still have the original cord |

Lexusgs430:The choice is his actually but it's just an option and also nothing should go wrong as long as he gets the right parts and applies a good heat spreader to the processor he will be fine and he will also ser performance gains .... However it is still up to the owner of he does not have money he should go for an option that is cheaper the parts shouldn't be too expensive but it's the availability he should worry about |

The road ahead NAND flash offers an enormous improvement over hard drives, but it isn’t without its own drawbacks and challenges. Drive capacities and price-per-gigabyte are expected to continue to rise and fall respectively, but there’s little chance that SSDs will catch hard drives in price-per-gigabyte. Shrinking process nodes are a significant challenge for NAND flash — while most hardware improves as the node shrinks, NAND becomes more fragile. Data retention times and write performance are intrinsically lower for 20nm NAND than 40nm NAND, even if data density and total capacity are vastly improved. Thus far, SSD manufacturers have delivered better performance by offering faster data standards, more bandwidth, and more channels per controller — plus the use of SLC caches we mentioned earlier. Nonetheless, in the long run, it’s assumed that NAND will be replaced by something else. Whether consumers would notice the difference is an open question. If you’ve upgraded from NAND to an SSD and then upgraded to a faster SSD, you’re likely aware that the gap between HDDs and SSDs is much larger than the SSD – SSD gap, even when upgrading from a relatively modest drive. Improving access times from milliseconds to microseconds matters a great deal, but improving them from microseconds to nanoseconds might fall below what humans can realistically perceive in most cases. For now, NAND is king of the hill — and it’s expected to stay there for the next 4-5 years, at the very least. Sorry for the long post ![]() |
