No, I'm not short landing. Hoping to start job search soon but I'm also afraid that if i land a job now, they may want me to start sooner than I'm ready to start. I need time to get a house, settle my kids in school and my toddler in an affordable daycare b4 the work hustle. rainazoe: |

Hello All, i just received my FRSC letter, but the letter was addressed to me instead of to whom it may concern, but everything is on the FRSC letter head. Would there be an issue when i present it in Canada?

Hello, It's unfortunate that you work 12 hours a day, but if you are interested in Canada you will have to create time to read up some pages on Canada immigration. You do not have to go back to Nigeria to be able to process your immigration to Canada, you can still do it while in UAE. Researching on the immigration subject is a must except you want to pay an agent to do it for you, which is not also a guarantee that he/she will do it right. You may even be swindled in the process. In this thread we encourage DIY, and most of us are landed immigrants in Canada. How about your weekends? this venture requires time with or without an agent, because you will need to study for your English Test (IELTS), the agent cant do that for you. You will have to follow up on your credential assessment especially if your degrees are from our wonderful country, Nigeria. Wish you all the best! ewuoso: 8 Likes |

Yes, you will be paying both ACCA and A hip if you want to continue maintaining their status. Don't forget that failure to be in good standing with ACCA will cost you your A hip. So all fees and D reporting for ACCA must be a CONTINUUM ![]() DonroxyII: |

Hello House, Please how long is the FRSC letter valid for? I mean is there a validity period for it to be submitted in Canny? I am considering applying for it now to avoid delays when PPR lands. |

Well, one has to make a decision. So far, there is no indication that the MRA with ACCA will be cancelled. I think A is enjoying the flow of funds coming in otherwise, why would A Ontario A BC in accepting outside Canada. They don't mind the yearly subscriptions and the fact that A hip is growing, that is what every ing body wants even ACCA. ACCA now has 4 exam diets in a year, and many people are completing more exam papers due to this flexibility. If you set your mind to do it, you will can complete it within a year plus. I made mention of a friend who is taking this path, she has few papers to go, she is currently in Canny for soft landing. Let everyone do what they are convinced to do and what works for them. I haven't written A exams before, but I heard it is hard to and also a more expensive venture than ACCA (Please this, it's just hear say). Talkingboy: 1 Like |

Hi, Just like somebody has already suggested. Going through ACCA is your best bet at the moment, because with ICAN you will need to write A exams (I don't know how many, but it feels like a lot still). A friend of mine is doing short landing, but has started the ACCA program haven gotten exemptions for being ICAN certified. She only had to write some ACCA papers, after which she will apply for A through the MRA route. I am ACCA not ICAN, so I just did direct conversion to A. I hope this helps. hayor2014: 1 Like 1 Share |

I wrote to A BC, they said the zero rated tax for non Canada residents is effective this year and that there is no retrospective application. With the online payment, once you declare you are non-resident and put in your foreign country address, the taxes are automatically removed. They seem to use a software to confirm the address and one's location to confirm (this was stated on the site). I eventually paid 515cad as against 573.25cad. Good deal. By the way, if I relocate to Canada later in the year, would I be asked to pay up the tax element since I would then be resident in Canada and the A dues covers some period that I would be in Canny? Still waiting for PPR though. Virt: |

@Rainazoe, is your hip with A BC or Ontario, cos mine is with BC. rainazoe: |

Many thanks dear. I will request for the form. Maybe I will also mention the past taxes I paid since 2015 to see if there is a way to claim it back. rainazoe: |

Obtaining A designation through the MRA is with ACCA not ICAN. On another note, A (BC) annual dues for 2018 for non Canadian resident is 573.25cad. GST/HST taxes of 58cad included in the fees Please landed seniors, should non Canadian residents be taxed? if not, how can one claim them back? misscanada123: |

Yeah, I have seen people transfer from BC to Ontario. I plan to reside in Ontario, and I can still use my BC hip in Ontario until when I'm ready to transfer. Once you are A, there is no barrier to which province your hip is, one may need to transfer because of proximity to A provincial meetings/seminars or conferences. My application is with London VO, so I'm waiting for them b4 I can decide when to move, but hopefully this year. rainazoe: |

My hip is with A British Columbia. I hurriedly applied for hip in 2015 because there was a rumour that they (A) will not renew the MRA with ACCA and the rigors of writing all those exams to gain the same hip was not what I wanted to ever face. Paying that annual hip every year and not using it is not funny, but I had to cos I have plans to move to Canny soon. I don't think there is an avenue for paying partial fees except one is out of job for a prolonged time or sth sth... I don't those factors. TEECANN: |

Hello Rainazoe, my hip is with A British Columbia, that was the only province then that accepted outside Canada, it's only recently that I learnt Ontario does the same. rainazoe: 1 Like |

@maternal, giving God the deserved thanks and honor in seeing us through good and difficult times is not a naija thing but a personal thing. I just hope people don't get to Canada where things seem to work and feel no need to reverence God again. Without Him, we are nothing both in Naija or Canada or anywhere else in the world. This is just my thought. Cheers!! maternal: 37 Likes 1 Share |

Hmmmmm, I hope we have not come again with what or what not to discuss on this thread? I think living in Canada entails a lot and it may be hard to streamline topics that perfectly fit the purpose of this thread. I personally do not see anything wrong with all the discussions so far on the thread.... @aklas87, I think your preferences is what may make you think FRSC discussions are unrelated to the thread. Please lets continue to rub minds, I'm learning a lot here. aklas87: 8 Likes |
