This is nice. However, I believe it would be more convenient writing it in Nigeria when one has better time to study and materials could be gotten ridiculously cheap. One can however continue writing exams from there.

Have you read the requirements for obtaining the A designation for internationally trained ants without any Mutual Recognised Agreement from either CIMA or ACCA? You would almost give up. The requirements are crazy!

I'm in HR and in Toronto.
To be relevant in this field you need to write the certification exams like Cke 1&2 to be a Certified Human Resource Professional. That will be your starting point and you can move up from there....
You could also do other certifications depending on ur area of expertise such as payroll certifications, compensation and benefits, etc

I'm also in your shoes. I decided to opt for ACCA option instead due to the following:

1. While Ontario accepts CIMA in the MRA for internationally trained ants into A, Alberta does not.
2. I'm unsure about what A means by "completion of the *full* CIMA programme to be eligible.
3. ACCA's cut-off is 50% compared to CIMA that is 60%.
4. The ACCA option is cost effective as it is about 50% cheaper than the CIMA option.
5. The requirements to obtain the A designation with ACCA is less complex and more straightforward.
6. ACCA is more recognised worldwide than CIMA.

The only Con is that one gets to write 4 papers to obtain the ACCA qualification unlike CIMA that requires candidates to write only 1 paper. But trust me.. that one paper would be loaded!

If you have any objection to the above, please let me know.

Different provinces have their HR governing associations. For ontario, its HRPA.
He can gather info on the website as regards becoming a member and certificatiom exams.
Wrote my certification over 4 yrs ago so i dont av soft copies. Also exam requirement differ for all provinces most esp Quebec.

No. I got a better full time employment, so I later declined their offer.

As per negotiation, for INC, negotiate much higher because you handle your benefits, tax etc yourself. T4 is a normal contract employment where statutory deductions(tax etc) are done before you get your final pay.

You have to plan to layer, dont gi about thinking you can always have 1 jacket. get lots of sweaters and cardigans that you can layer with.

and ensure you have a water resistant jacket. they usually come with a hood but you cant be wearing raincoat or outdoor wear all the time.

Google parkers its a standard type of jacket for cold seasons.

For a man sweaters and cardigans is the bomb. Picture Pep Guardiola with a these layers.

thermal top...shirt....cardigan....suit....Jacktet.....(and if cold persists) another over all jacket.

I believe this is a new development cos at the time I wrote this, I called the customer service at A Alberta. They further told me that not all provinces accept CIMA. However, it is stated clearly that all provinces accept ACCA except Quebec. You would also notice that the conversion process with ACCA is easier than CIMA but the thought of writing only 1 paper to obtain CIMA is the catchment.

I'm only advising that it is better one writes ACCA to play safe because A would require your transcript from CIMA and once they see that you were exempted all papers except the Case Study exam, it is left for the registrar to decide. We are yet to hear from someone who obtained A through this ICAN-CIMA Pathway to guide us.

But your PoF should be enough to buy some of these things now, at least not too expensive ones if you don't want to eat deep into your savings. But the better the quality the longer it is likely to last.

Please note recruiters here like to see 3 things:

1. Work Experience in your chosen field(in your case: Big Data/ Analytics/ Data Science)
2. Relevant Industry
3. Specific skills and or Tools e.g SQL, Python, R, Machine learning, Tableau, KNIME

Recruiters will you based on these. When they call you they will need you to demonstrate expertise and talk about projects you worked on. Also expect more of that and technical tests in the face to face interviews.

Toronto seems like the easy choice but it’s quite expensive and I’d prefer another city with the same criteria I’m looking for. I’m also looking for a city that’s warm. I really don’t like the cold and will like to avoid it as much as possible.

how expensive is expensive? sometimes, you may need to make the best decision for yourself per time. You can live in Toronto or surrounding cities to maximize your opportunities...North york, Brampton, Mississauga, Scarborough...but dont make decisions solely on cost!

You don't like cold and you want to move to Canada...?
Oh well. As per your criteria, substitute cities would be Montreal or Vancouver based on what you want. These cities too have their disadvantages.
Montreal: Cold and French speaking.
Vancouver: warmer weather; however, it is very expensive, probably more than Toronto.
Toronto and area might still be the most attractive choice based on your criteria.
