IT guys across the west dey ball big time.ask anyone close to you that lives abroad.

I met a guy at phone repair arena sometime last year.The guy brought a top notch Samsung phone for minor troubleshooting.(Just unlocking and restore)
He signed in and gave the guys in the repair dept the phone after telling them what the problem was.just to use an OEM software to unlock the phone then do factory restore.
The only solution the so called IT guys adopted was to flash the phone erasing all the vital files and information in the phone without telling the owner.

Meanwhile,The guy told me that he mistakenly locked the phone and it could not boot.He was in dubai then so he went to a repair outlet.He signed in at the outlet.
The guys simply plugged the phone to a device and in less than a minute the phone was unlocked and all factory settings restored without loosing a single file.All personal and phone files were intact.He took his phone,signed out and left.

It was the same thing that happened while in naiJa unfortunately our NaiJa backyard IT guys flash craze comot for d phone head

Obviously you do not understand tech.

You have not worked with tech at an enterprise level.

You are still thinking of using code to develop a calculator solution. It is more and deep than that. So you expect a company like first bank to subject their code to chat gpt. Chat gpt simply make life a bit easier but most codes being churned out require refactoring and understanding of design principles and patterns.

The first step to failing in tech is to go into it for the financials alone. It’s a sure way to failure.

Companies in the US and Europe still recruit the best hands . There’s something lacking in your skill set if you are not getting interviewed.

Tech is an art and you need to learn the fundamentals. I get enough invites all over the world with relocation package that I even choose to ignore

The amount of opportunities in tech is exaggerated, especially by entrepreneurs that want to sell their courses to you. A career in tech is very lucrative and cool BUT that does not mean the jobs are available on a Buy-One-Get-One-Free basis if we want to tell ourselves the truth. If you will do tech, go the whole hog and learn it enough that you can use it to build a solution by yourself, if you just want to do the bare minimum to position yourself for jobs, u may find it tough. Tech is not the easy way out the way most people see it, u will put in the work and ur learning will be continuous and u will have to keep evolving.

Also dont forget, the fact that most tech jobs can be done remotely means the experienced and gatekeepers are having a field day taking multiple jobs as much as 3, while new entrants may find it increasingly difficult to land something.

I relocated to the UK under a COS but the job I got through this COS is a finance role. I have done numerous certifications in a bid to land a remote tech job and its been nothing rejection for the past 3 years in UK. I suddenly gave up and decided to be A gigolo.

Find out the effects of AI on your field of expertise and become the person that can use AI to meet that change. Lot of people are getting jobs. You simply need to be superb. That simple.

Don’t let anyone who barely knows something about tech determines your direction.

Does Nigeria really have a viable tech sector, or is it just people in tech-inscribed T-shirts with laptops hopping from one remote work hub to the next? I mean, our tech industry is basically a glorified game of "brilliant minds" with Wi-Fi.

When we're actually ready for a real tech industry, we'll be calling on the government to build a proper industrialised environment for real tech companies - think mobile phone manufacturers, satellite companies, robot factories - basically, places with actual addresses, not just free Wi-Fi and coffee.

How can we talk about a tech industry when we still import ordinary POS machines? What is you people's idea of tech? Free WiFi, website design, coding, and crypto? Walai, we are not ready.

As always, we always want to jump the process. How can we talk about modern day tech without proper industrialisation? After learning to code, what next? Look around you, apart from banks, who your coding help? Schools still struggling to pay minimum wage or market women??

1. There's a technical and non-technical side of Tech, which do you want to focus on? For those saying AI will replace most jobs in Tech, it's a 50 / 50 thing, now let's take in FINTECH, a PO or BA needs to engage Dev Team on continuous product for improvement and if they run an Agile method, daily standup meeting, sprint planning, sprint retrospective etc. In all these cycles, I can tell you that there will always be conflict, either among the team or with PO, AI is not or never intelligent enough to manage, handle and resolve Conflict resolution, no AI system has been built with that level of intelligence, so AI cannot replace things like Conflict resolution, emotional intelligence in workplace etc

2. @adaperry25, you shouldn't have quitted your job without having another one in place, however that ship has sailed no it's the way forward that matters, since you have learnt Data Analytics which itself is an act of visualization of data in a presentable aesthetic way that breaks information down to stakeholders, now ask yourself what platforms do you use or have learnt? most organizations use Power BI, how good are you creating dashboards to tell your stories? Do you have personal projects you can reference on your CV? Also don't limit yourself to one platform, learn ETL, ELT, understand the different concepts of Data Lake, Data Warehousing, Data mart, be able to run through Data Management, security, Data Architecture

3. When you understand that Data Analytics is beyond using python, or Tableau or PBI then you need to understand another important bit which is *data security*, no organization plays with it, how do you secure published dataset from getting into wrong hands, each platform has a way of securing it, I know small Power BI so I can tell you one way to prevent unauthorized access to any published report is using Workspaces. How you connect to multiple data sources without, if need be, without eroding the DB, or getting hacked, these are some key components you can also incorporate into your CV. Once you do these, it shows any hiring manager that even at entry level, you understand security, visualization, ETL etc.

4. Then for now, I will implore you to stop looking for remote work, rather focus on Nigeria market first, when you get into any organization, get a foothold of the profession, see at the entry level part money no dey oooo, but gain the experience, when you have gained enough experience you can march on to any level you want in the field... Then you see all the people telling you to learn Python, it's a good thing to learn but please don't focus so much energy on coding there are other aspects that a hiring manager wants to see and need you to understand on the job

5. Don't give up, keep on applying keep on applying, keep on preparing yourself for interviews, pick up your experience of what went wrong in a previous interview then use it as a lesson learnt in subsequent one., slowly but surely you will get there

They also believe, getting into tech is like transferring from Nigeria to let's Canada with the same years of experience, not knowing that one thing that most managers check is whether you have their country experience, if you are a good team player, how transferable is your claimed skillset to their environment.
