Please is this one issued by the NPC? Cos the site says it has to come from them with a seal. And was it obtained for US visa?

No, he used it for Canadian visa. What happened to the one you obtained from NPC?

Hello Everyone,

For nearly a month, I’ve been trying to book an appointment after making my payment on September 20th, 2024. I’ve called customer service daily and created tickets, but no luck—until now.

I’m not one to keep solutions to myself, so I wanted to share how I finally resolved this issue. Each time I tried to move forward with my pending application, it would prompt me to make the payment again, even though I had already done so. I tried everything, including calling customer care. Today, they suggested I enter the OIS number on the deposit slip. I realized I had been using **"/"** instead of **"|"** for almost a month! Even though trying the **"|"** didn't work initially due to system slowness, customer service advised me to try the Aventum number. I’m pretty sure I had tried this before, but I gave it another go—and it worked!

I can’t help but feel that someone else might have solved this problem but didn’t share the solution here typical Nigerians especially the older generation ..lol. It’s a shame when people don’t help others, especially when they know the struggle. Anyway, if you’ve been stuck like I was (and I know I wasn’t the only one), try the steps I mentioned and book your appointment. I’m so grateful to God that this finally worked!

thanks for the update; however, I am sure everyone who's still having an issue with booking an appointment (myself included) tried the amentum ref. number yet, it keeps going back to generate another payment receipt. I guess you were lucky cause it is still not going through for me.

Hello blessed people,
I don't know who this post may help but i will put it out here anyway.
I applied for a renewal of my B1/B2 visa in April/May and got Nov. 5th this 2024 as my dropbox date.
In July, I was rescheduled for Aug !st. I informed my hubby of the change in date and encouraged him to send in his for a renewal. Amazingly, he paid and got a date for the following week-19th July. So he travelled to Lagos to drop his application at DHL. The following week, with his visa issued, his port was ready for pickup at DHL PH. I travelled to submit mine on the scheduled date but was rescheduled to the 5th in the wee hours of the 1st of August due to #Endbadgovernance# protest. I finally submitted on the 5th and prayed my port to be returned with my visa before the commencement of their structural change.
My dashboard indicated my port had been received and till the next month, it was stuck at that status. Finally, I checked on the 10th of Sept and the status read 'REFUSED!". Confused, I just smiled and prayed that it wasn't my portion. Undaunted, I started to search on Youtube the meaning of a refused status and eventually saw it wasn't a final verdict. I read a lot on how to answer questions relating to my case. Meanwhile, I wasn't told anything as to where to pick up my port nor my offence. I just kept praying and thanking God that the verdict would be upturned in my favor. i didnt even call the embassy in panic. Finally, i received an email (not spam) to appear on the 9th of Oct. @ 7am. Phew! I was excited that at last, i had a chance to speak or defend my case without paying another fee.. i got there and saw we were quite a number that had a refused status. Our ports were first returned to us on the queue and once received, you went back to the interview line. There was a guy infront of me who had dropboxed with his wife since late June, his wife got hers but he was also present. We were drilled like new applicants. I was asked what i was travelling for and why i had stayed up to 4months in my last trip. I explained why I had stayed longer than usual and after studying my DS160, and seeing no other inconsistency in my information, my visa renewal was approved that Wednesday.
By Friday, I just used the link on OIS site to check for my port and it was ready for pickup, without any registration in Lagos( DHL PH was my initial return address).

Please, does anyone know if OIS is still accepting drop-off without interview waiver confirmation letter from the embassy?

Chetachukwu01:
I gave the OIS staff my GTB payment receipt, my OIS acknowlgment slip, my ds 160 confirmation letter, 2 port photographs and port booklet. She gave me back the GTB receipt, she use took the OIS acknowledgement slip and typed on her computer to confirm my appointment was booked for that day (she confirmed and gave me back the OIS paper) she also checked my last visa and confirmed that I qualified for IW. Then she took my port booklet, 2 port photographs and my ds confirmation letter, pinned them together and kept. I filled the and that was it. No question was asked about my old appointment which was scheduled for December 2 2024 and no question was asked about the AVITS appointment cos it’s not needed there.

My brother didn’t use birth certificate from NPC.

Since he was born in the late 80s, he decided to obtain the one from Mushin Local Government.

It is wrong to accuse “some people - the older generation” to have known the way but didn’t share the information. What if they didn’t find the way and are still struggling? You think you would be the first person to have shared this information if a number of us are as lucky as you to get through the preapproval stage.

Just count yourself lucky. I have tried what you said even though I have always done that, but it didn’t bring me to the calendar stage.

This is my personal feeling, and I understand it might not apply to everyone, but I’ve noticed that many Nigerians, particularly within certain generations, tend not to help each other as much as we could. This is based on my own experiences. For example, on platforms like TikTok, where people—immigrants included—share their stories, you often see comments criticizing them, asking, 'Why make a video about everything?' or 'Are you the first person to move to the UK?'

In contrast, I’ve seen other nationalities, like Indians, who are known to help each other regardless of age—whether they’re Baby Boomers, Millennials, or Gen Z. Many immigrants and even content creators have pointed this out, encouraging Nigerians to seek help from other nationalities because of this difference in community .

This isn’t to say that all Nigerians are unwilling to help—there are many who do. But in my experience, especially with the older generation, there seems to be a reluctance to assist. And honestly, if there was more of a helping culture across generations, I believe Nigeria as a country would be better off.

Hello guys,

Please I really need your opinion on this; I was at the stage of scheduling appointment on the old portal; my was successfully created on the new portal and it shows 'pending application request' on the dashboard, but nothing much happens when I click on it, even after raising two tickets..

Now, I used another email add to open a new , is it advisable to go ahead with another application and pay another MVR fee, cos I need the date for December.

Any suggestions is fine

Pls I and my family applied for a USA visit visit 2 years ago but we could only get a date for May 17th this year, however we received a mail from the Embassy, rescheduling us to the 2nd of November this year still. Now another mail has been sent to us to attend our interview on the 24th of October, meanwhile in my husband’s mail which is our alternate main, we were rescheduled to 6th of November, that there won’t be any public service on November 2 and now another message has been sent to me that weshould attend on the 4th of November again, pls which is our exact rescheduled date? Or how do I the US EMBASSY for clarification?

Also, I don’t know if anyone who was moved from the old portal to the new on has the issue of their not being found by customer care. So you were able to get back your more recent rescheduled interview date after they changed it?
My interview is in a week, so this gives me hope. I already raised a ticket, ed my interview confirmation and chatted with them and they said they will escalate it.
Since you got your newer date back, I hope they give me my date back too.
Did you have to do anything else?

If you go in with a new DS160 for update please get in mind they don’t update in there. This is a big effect on many who booked on the old website and can’t update the DS160.

After the whole process and getting doing biometrics.

Window. 1 a male VO

VO: port please
Me: with a smile good morning.

VO: why are you going to the US
Me: I’m going to the US for tourists purposes, I will be staying for two weeks and will be going on a cruiseship for 7days from Brooklyn to Bharmas and back to Brooklyn. VO stepped in that moment. And signal for me to hold on with his hands typed for some while

VO: you said the cruiship will be from Brooklyn right.
Me: yes it’s an MSC cruiship

VO: are you married and do you have a child or children
Me: yes I’m legally married and have a son

VO: have you traveled out of Nigeria before
Me: yes I have been to Dubia in year 2018 for two weeks conference and also been to Ghana in year 2019 for a submit

VO : what do you do for a living

VO: typed for some time. Sorry you are not qualified for a tourist visa at this moment kindly try again some other time. Blue paper was ed to me with my port.

Did you update your DS-160 with the new details, or was Florida still listed? Also, I thought your appointment was originally scheduled for November 2nd or 6th did you reschedule?

I’m so sorry for your experience. I know you will still be given the visa when you apply again. I just wanted to ask, I’m not sure if you’d know. But we’re there people going for only biometrics appointment and not having to do interview after? I ask because I had been refused visa IW but was given a white paper to come in for fingerprints only so I’m not sure if I’d need to book another appointment for interview too.

If anyone on here can answer this as well it’ll be greatly appreciated.
