Dr. Nelson Omenugha Commends Soludo’s Commitment to Eradicating Child Labour in Anambra
..... Receives Recognition from NUJ for Youth Mentorship

By : Ukpa Ewa

In commemoration of World Day Against Child Labour, the Special Adviser to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo on Youth Empowerment Programme, Dr. Nelson Omenugha, has reiterated Anambra State Government commitment to eliminating child labour through strategic policies and initiatives.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council, held in Awka, Dr. Omenugha emphasized that Governor Soludo has been intentional in tackling child labour by ensuring free and compulsory education at all levels across the state.

“The Governor has provided free education in Anambra State, understanding that education is a great enabler and equalizer,” Omenugha stated. “He has also enacted laws mandating that every child must be in school and anyone found abusing or exploiting children faces the full wrath of the law.”

Reflecting on the 2025 World Day Against Child Labour theme, “Progress is clear but there is more to do: Let’s speed up efforts,” Dr. Omenugha noted that Anambra has already made significant strides. “In less than three years, Governor Soludo has provided both the legal and executive frameworks to ensure that every child born in Anambra is well protected and given access to education and healthcare,” he said.

He highlighted the state achievements, including free antenatal care, free nursery, primary and secondary education, as well as bursaries for tertiary level students. According to Dr. Omenugha, these policies reflect government determination to raise useful and empowered citizens.

“Currently, Anambra State has one of the lowest rates of out-of-school children in Nigeria just 0.2%,” he disclosed. “Child labour is virtually non existent in the state thanks to deliberate and sustained interventions.”

In addition to the gains in child protection, Dr. Omenugha also announced the next phase of government One Youth, Two Skills programme, under which about 8,000 youths will be trained and empowered.

“We are in an election year, and while propaganda is inevitable, the facts remain clear — the Soludo istration is investing heavily in young people and laying the foundation for a prosperous future,” he added.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council, Comrade Emeka Odogwu, PhD, informed Dr. Omenugha of his nomination for the Outstanding Youth Mentor Award, to be presented on August 25, 2025, at the International Convention Center, Awka.

Comrade Odogwu applauded Dr. Omenugha for his exemplary service, grassroots impact and ability to galvanize, mobilize and mentor young people across the state. “You have distinguished yourself as a key youth figure in this istration. This award is unique and unprecedented recognition of your service,” he noted.

He further disclosed that the award will be be given alongside NUJ Man of the Year honour and is expected to be one of the highlights of the Union annual press week.

Highlight of the visit was the presentation of a public address system to NUJ by Dr. Omenugha, a gesture which was received with gratitude by the Council.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate for Anambra State November 8, 2025 poll, Mr John Nwosu, on Friday, posited that the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) appeared to be tired of contesting.

Nwosu, who stated this at ADC first convergence coalition partners meeting held at Awka, Anambra State capital, argued that the ruling APGA would soon be kick out of power like Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as it was currently tired of contesting and winning against self.

Represented by his brother, Chief Ben-Chuks Nwosu, the ADC standard flag bearer urged Anambra residents to embrace the coalition so that they would form what he termed a strong force to 'knock-out' the APGA candidate, Professor Chukwuma Soludo.

"We need a strong force to knock-out Soludo government. Let's ADC governorship candidate and his running-mate . They are two AK-47 you will use to win. But you must stay strong. APGA is tired of contest. What happened to PDP will soon happen to it.

"You all know what they do to win election and how to overcome them. They are not contesting. They are not going to the field. But don't assume that the people you have in the village are aware and will come to you. You must properly inform them. Tell them that ADC is good. We need the unity now," he added.

Also speaking, the ADC governorship running-mate, Dr Ndubuisi Nwobu, informed Anambra residents that his party was poised to offer them the needed development, including security and ease of doing business Soludo's istration failed to do.

Speaking in an interview, the State Chairman of ADC, Comrade Patrick Obianyo commended the coalition for embracing the party, which according to him, have all the human and material resources needed to rescue Anambra State from malistration and insecurity.

https://www.factcheckng.com/blog/2025/05/30/critique-sit-at-home-wheres-governor-soludo-as-civil-servants-record-total-compliance-in-anambra/
By Okechukwu Onuegbu

On May 30th, 2025, most streets, markets, shops, and both public and private institutions in Anambra State were shut down as residents complied with the annual sit-at-home order. This directive, proclaimed long ago by some pro-Biafra activists, was aimed at commemorating Biafra Day in honour of the defunct Eastern Nigeria people killed during the 30-months Biafran/Nigerian civil war.

While none of the governments of the five Southeastern States have formally endorsed this order issued by non-state actors, it is disheartening that civil servants appeared to observe it as well. This stands in sharp contrast to Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s stance on the weekly Monday sit-at-home order issued since August 2021 by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to press for the release of their incarcerated leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Anambra State’s governor has consistently lamented that the forceful movement restrictions imposed by IPOB are crippling the state’s socioeconomic activities. It has directly and indirectly forced many traders, captains of industry, and investors to relocate to neighbouring States in the South-South geopolitical zone. Governor Soludo even promised to beef up security around banks, markets, and other public institutions to encourage people to go about their duties without restrictions. This initiative could be why some commercial banks in Awka have started attending to their customers on Mondays partially.

However, on Friday, May 30th, 2025, during the Biafra Day sit-at-home, despite the visible presence of police, military, and paramilitary officers at Aroma Junction, Eke Awka, among other locations, not a single civil servant could be spotted at either the State Secretariat or the Federal Government Secretariat. These government buildings are strategically situated beside the new government house and opposite the B-Division of the Nigerian Police in Awka. In fact, both entrance gates to the Federal Government Secretariat were locked, while the two unarmed, elderly security guards at the entrance of the Jerome Udoji (Anambra State Secretariat) boldly informed us that “Nobody is inside. Can’t you see that everywhere is calm with nobody in sight?” The commercial bank within the facility was equally not working .

Also, at the former and new government houses, including the State House of Assembly , Judiciary, ASUBEB, INEC, ANSIEC and others, gates were equally shut, with no civil servants present during our press visit. Even the State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, who claimed to be in office, confirmed on the phone that most workers did not report for duty that day. As Comrade Osita Obi of Recover Nigeria Project (RNP) aptly queried, “Who is to be blamed for the workers’ absenteeism on a normal workday? Is this not an indictment on Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who is visibly unhappy that sit-at-home is crippling the State and Southeast economy? What is the government’s commitment to ensuring that Anambra people come out on Mondays and any other sit-at-home days?”

FactcheckNg is deeply concerned about this alarming trend. Could this be mere rhetoric or inaction on the part of the government? Otherwise, why would the governor be working every day while the engine room of governance ( the civil servants) report to work only when they choose? Why would the governor be delivering a lecture at a Federal university in another State while his own State’s Federal and State institutions were shut down because of a mere proclamation by a “non-existent group” or the insecurity his government claims to be fighting with “Operation Udo Ga-Achi”? If some markets and private institutions could open for normal business, why were civil servants absent when there was no formally announced holiday? If it is perhaps due to fear of being killed or harmed by non-state actors, especially the enforcers of the order, what has the government failed to do, or not done well, that could lead to such vehement disregard for its authority (if any)?

Action is said to speak louder than words. The State government should kindly redouble its efforts toward resolving this ime. If for no other reason, civil servants in Awka, the seat of power, should have no reason to abscond from duty. FactcheckNg believes that the government can create programs and actions capable of addressing this amicably. This could include scheduling important functions, events, and celebrations in Awka primarily on Mondays or whenever there is a restriction order from non-state actors. Soludo’s istration should also introduce a reward system aimed at encouraging workers to report for duty every working day. Furthermore, the permanent secretaries, heads of departments, directors, and other relevant authorities should be empowered and monitored to ensure they enforce compliance with government orders more effectively among the workers. We equally believe that liaising with the State organized labour (NLC/TUC) and the State Head of Service could contribute immensely towards resolving this. Lastly, we need security. The security of lives and properties of the populace would go a long way in rebuilding public confidence in the government, fostering rapid development, peace, and progress in Anambra State and the Southeast generally.

Nigerians have been urged to prioritize their health through regular medical checkups, routine exercise, and intentional healthy living to curb the growing trend of "slump and die syndrome.”

This call was made by the Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaku Awka, Dr. Joe Akabuike during a one-day health awareness program organized by the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Anambra State Chapter, where he presented a paper on the theme of the event, *End “Slump and Die Syndrome: Your Health First"*

He advised the public not to hastily bury individuals who slump or are presumed dead as many people have been buried alive through the practice, stressing the importance of taking such persons to the hospital for proper medical evaluation or autopsy to confirm death and determine its cause, an approach he said, could help prevent future occurrences.

" Let's be intentional on issues concerning our health, there's nothing as sudden death only that we don't in most cases don't make our overall well-being a priority.

Eat healthy, exercise heavy and rest well. Check your vital signs on a regular basis and keep a clean environment," the CMD onished.

In her welcome address, the Chairperson of NAWOJ, Anambra State, Comrade Tochukwu Ifejika, appreciated and participants for their unwavering , and encouraged journalists and other essential workers to make their health a top priority, reminding them that they can be replaced in their offices immediately they are dead.

"No one is indispensable, let's not deceive ourselves that no one can do with us. It's a lie, your replacement comes immediately after you die. Nature abhors vacuum", She charged.

In his remarks, the Anambra State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Dr. Odogwu Emeka, who was also the Chairman on the occasion, urged women to make most of opportunities like the Health Awareness program to learn one or two things to impart on them.

In their various goodwill messages,
the representatives of some of the para military: Federal Road Safety corps(FRSC), Nigeria Immigration Service(NIS), Nigeria Police force(NPF), Nigeria Correctional Service(NCS), Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA) brigade, Fire Brigade Service... commended NAWOJ for a timely packaging of the Health Awareness Program respectively.

The high points of the event was the R and practical first-aid techniques demonstration and educating of participants on how to respond during health emergencies ably led by a representative of the Nigerian Red Cross, Anambra State Chapter, Lady Nkechinyelu Nnaji and team and the cutting of the cakes of one year anniversary in office of the NAWOJ Anambra State Chapter current istration and May birthday celebrants.

By Okechukwu Onuegbu

As Anambra State populace prepare for the 2025 governorship election, there is need for the electorate to consider the capacities of the respective individuals or candidates on the poll. The candidate should be judged by what they have been able to achieve individually with their wealths, not with public coffers. There is a popular saying that a man who is able to achieve a lot with little will achieve more with many. Also, a man who fails to take care of his family needs not seek a leadership position. Can anyone compare a man who nearly divided his community to a man investing in the peace and progress of his community since he was born?

Of all the candidates aspiring to govern Anambra State this year, Ozo Jeff Nweke of Action Alliance (AA) stands out as the best. Born on September 26, 1970 to late Ozo Aforka Nweke family of Awka, Jeff's steering qualities and chances is not in doubt. He is a youth, visionary leader, very enterprising, hospitable and accommodating.

As one of the leaders of Ezinano community, comprising 24 villages in Awka, Ozo Jeff Nweke has never slept with his two eyes closed. He is actively involved in protecting his community from land grabbers even when the law enforcement agents abandoned them. This made some women from the community to go stark naked in protest against some land grabbers shielded by the law enforcement agents while maligning the image of their illustrious son of the soil in the year 2023.

Ozo Jeff did not stop there. He is always busy empowering women, youth and men with skills, food items and millions of Naira to get them going amidst the devastating impact of Nigeria economy. Nweke has also convened series of security meetings and stakeholders engagements where the youths were convinced to renounce cultism and other anti-social lifestyles, and got reintegrated back to the society with multiple legal streams of income. His interventions brought to a barest minimum, if not total end to cultism and other violent crimes, which the government of Professor Chukwuma Soludo of APGA could not address.

In a similar vein, Nweke as a security expert has never withheld his services to the people. His Blue Shield is a top-notch; one of the leading security outfit in the country. He has also consistently offered free security consultancy to the people from far and near, leading to the various awards he has received from communities, organisations and good spirited individuals. You can begin to imagine what would happen if he becomes the governor of Anambra State.

Nweke's leadership quality is also noticeable in his ability to manage businesses and provide employment to the people. His security company, Blue shield, including Mango and Lion Properties Limited and other business conglomerate, have employed hundreds of people from all over the country. Can you compare a man from private sector who has created employments to someone who neither owns a company nor employ a single soul but always jumping from one government position to another? Should Anambra State remain in the hands of a man who castigates breweries and private companies that create jobs just because he managed to renovate a government house whose structures were acquired by his predecessors?

Also, unlike governor Chukwuma Soludo who always run to renovate and occupy an existing house/political party, Ozo Jeff Nweke is not. While Soludo's political trajectory has been from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and now APGAPC, Ozo Jeff Nweke moved quietly to build a relatively unknown political party,AA. Anambra populace voted for APGA in 2003 when it was newly ed and relatively unknown. Therefore, the choice is theirs now to make same move for a greater Anambra, given to the party's ideology of making workers welfare a top priority. Nweke has assured Ndi Anambra of his resolve to provide them with security, employment, infrastructural development and improve welfare once voted into power.

Similarly, if there is any need to talk about zoning, it favours Ozo Jeff Nweke. He is from Awka, the Anambra State capital which is abandoned by various governments, including Soludo's istration. If given opportunity to govern Anambra, Nweke will no doubt uplifts Awka to a true capital city because it is his home town. He will also develop all parts of the state because he has the political will. He who wears the shoe knows where it pinches, is a popular saying; meaning that a son of the soil will most likely develop his town much better than a man who considers himself as a stranger. Yes. Can you compare the development ongoing at Ekwulobia today to what is happening in Awka under Soludo? Why? Your guess is as good as ours.
FactcheckNg wishes the Anambra State electorate what they wish themselves as November 8, 2025 gubernatorial poll draws closer.

Education alone not enough to address moral decadence in Anambra, Soludo

By Okechukwu Onuegbu

Anambra State governor's wife, Dr Nonye Soludo, on Tuesday, lamented over the moral decadence in the society, which according to her, could no longer be remedied by formal education alone.

Soludo stated this at 2025 Congress organised by the Anambra State Universal Basic Education (ASUBEB) themed moral regeneration and value reorientation at the basic education level: the role of stakeholders.

According to her, evidence to moral decadence include increase in examination malpractices usually aided by some parents, robbery, disobedience to traffic rules, neopaganism, inordinate ambitions to amass wealth, nudity to make money on social media, among others.

"Have dinner together with your children. Listen to them, share ideas, have a chat with them. Teach them that there is dignity things in genuine labour. Teach them our culture and traditions. Encourage them to learn and speak our language. Make them to see you as their role modal," she added.

She called for reactivation of moral instructions across schools, mentoring, guidance and counselling to assist in reclaiming the society from abnormal behaviours.

Mrs Soludo also called on parents, communities, religious leaders, schools and other stakeholders to in inculcating moral values on students, noting that training children should be the responsibilities of all as practised in cosmopolitan Igbo society.

The lead paper presenter, Professor Emeka Ezeonu of the Department of Applied Chemistry, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka had traced the history of moral regeneration and value reorientation at the basic education level and proffered relevant solutions towards eradicating them.

Speaking in a discussion, Professor Jaja Nwanegbo of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka; the Chairman, Anambra Post Primary Schools Service Commission (PPSSC), Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu; Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo and the former Provost, Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe; told parents to build bond with their children and train them in a way that they could easily be transformed by schools.

The ists also urged parents to be mindful of how they dress, talk or relate with their spouses and others in presence of their children, including activities they engage on social media as they could impact negatively on their children emotions and general well-being.

Also speaking, Chairman of the occasion, Chief Clement Nwogbo argued that education plays key role in moulding the characters of children especially when the investment in that direction were utilised and urged all the stakeholders to hands in inculcating moral values and orientations on children.

Earlier, the host and Chairman, ASUBEB, Dr Vera Nkiru Nwadinobi, explained that the Congress was aimed at reminding the stakeholders of a need to reunite and build a strong moral foundation with secure resilient and prosperous nation for transformation of children.

The Executive Chairman, Nnewi North Local Government Area, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, on Saturday, dismissed allegation making around on some national dailies and online blogs that his istration was working against or undermining governor Chukwuma Soludo's efforts to deliver dividends of democracy.

Some persons, including one Mr Oliver Nwachukwu had in a report accused the Mayor of taxing Agbado market traders through illegal taxations, which they alleged was aimed at pitching the traders against Soludo's reelection.

But the Nnewi North Mayor at a media chat said the allegation was being spread by oppositions whose interest were to run down his istration even when they knew that his government was absolutely loyal to Soludo's istration.

Anazodo, who said his istration was not engaging in any kind of taxations asked those spreading the lies to present evidence to backup their claims, adding that the State government and the LGA were the same and had never been at loggerhead at each other.

"We have constructed 300 kilometers bridge, rural roads, open and lockup shops for petty traders in our markets. Go to Agbado market and . We built both halls and offices in the market including shops for petty traders. We are not taxing any of them. Again, Governor Soludo is making us to smile. There is no how our government or people will work against him.

"Nnewi North will give him 100% votes in the forthcoming election. We haven't seen the type of infrastructural development we are seeing here and other parts of Anambra State before. Works are ongoing here and there despite the raining session. They are massive that we cannot overlook them. We are absolutely loyal to him and his istration for ing us. What about security? Everything under him is very impressive," he added.

He also that Soludo's istration has empowered about 500 natives of Nnewi with different skills across all sectors, including agriculture and markets, and currently dualising the Agulu-Nnobi Nnewi-Ozubulu-Ihiala road aside other developmental projects ongoing within Nnewi and its environs.

"We are building a good working relationship with our people. We are seeing the dividends of democracy. My istration has empowred over 200 youths in Nnewi with human capital development. We have purchased JAMB forms for students in collaboration with Nnewi Forum.

"Over 400 farmers also received fertilizers and improved crops like cassava, maize seedlings and others to boost their agric produce and reduce poverty. I can assure you that Nnewi North people are solidly behind governor Soludo's reelection," he added.

The enforcement arm of the Anambra state government, Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, also known as OCHA Brigade, has said it would establish mobile courts around the state to ensure that traffic and sanitation offenders, etc are speedily tried and punished according to the law.

Comrade Celestine Anere, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the agency gave the hint during a chat with newsmen in Awka, the Anambra state capital.

Anere noted with concern that residents had remained adamant on their refusal to do the right thing, despite the agency's efforts to maintain a healthy state.

He said that in no distant time, the agency would have mobile courts to try sanitation offenders, adding that those found guilty would be punished according to the law establishing the brigade, to act as deterrent to others.

"The purpose of the mobile court is to ensure that punishment is handed down to the offender to serve as deterrent to others, who would want to continue committing similar offences," he said.

He enumerated the duties and responsibilities of the OCHA Brigade in Anambra state to include ensuring a clean, healthy, and livable environment, primarily through road decongestion and the enforcement of environmental sustainability policies.

He said the agency is also tasked with curbing roadside trading, maintaining orderliness, and ensuring adherence to government directives regarding cleanliness.

"The OCHA Brigade actively works to remove obstacles and maintain traffic flow on roads, especially in areas like Onitsha, Awka, Nnewi, Ekwulobia, as well as major markets, residential areas and flashpoints. It enforces policies related to environmental sustainability, including removal of wastes and illegal activities that pollute the environment.

"The agency works to ensure that trading activities are conducted within designated areas and not along the roads, preventing congestion and maintaining a clean environment. The brigade's actions are guided by the directives of the Anambra state government, aiming to create a healthy and safe environment for all citizens.

"The brigade plays a role in maintaining order and ensuring that public spaces are kept free from clutter and obstructions. In some cases, the agency has also been involved in providing assistance during emergencies, such as medical evacuations.

"The OCHA Brigade is responsible for enforcing state regulations related to environmental cleanliness and order. They're also involved in removing illegal vendors, seizing goods displayed inappropriately, and ensuring compliance with cleanliness standards. The brigade's ultimate goal is to improve the quality of life for Anambra residents by promoting a cleaner, healthier, and more organized state," he said.

According to him, the brigade's efforts are part of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo's broader vision to transform Anambra into a model state for cleanliness. He said that the agency has not even carried out a quarter of its legal mandate; saying that in no distant time, it will unveil more of its activities and programmes. He said that maintaining a clean and healthy state forms part of the integral effort towards achieving the Dubai-Taiwan state, which Governor Soludo promised in his manifesto.

He regretted that most of the times, when an offender is arrested, such offender would call a prominent person, who will plead on his behalf to be freed. He said that majority of such big men, who request that offenders should not be punished do travel to Europe, America, etc and that they see what healthy environments look like, yet, they would not cooperate with the agency to carry out their legitimate duties.

Anere ceased the opportunity to warn personnel of the agency, who he said engage in unethical behaviors such as extorting money, beating or using excessive force on citizens and residents to desist from doing so. He warned against unethical conducts while on duty.

The Federal Ministry of Education, on Saturday, approved appointment of Professor Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi as Acting Vice Chancellor (VC), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Arinze-Umobi's appointment takes effect on May 19, 2025, ahead of May 20th when the tenure of Professor Joseph Ikechebelu would expectedly be terminated.

Arinze-Umobi's second coming makes it 4 times the citadel of learning is producing an 'Acting' Vice Chancellor and 2 times of having a 'Vice Chancellor' between June 2024 and June 2025. The tenure of Professor Charles Esimone as 6th substantive VC of UNIZIK ended on June 4, 2024 thereby creating a room for eminent scholars and professors to aspire for that exalted position.

Esimone's exit made the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Professor Joseph Ikechebelu to step in as 'first' Acting VC. But on July 22, 2024, barely 49 days in office, the former governing Council of the institution led by Ambassador Greg Ozumba Mbadiwe reportedly said that he never acted in that capacity while announcing appointment of Professor Arinze-Umobi as Acting Vice Chancellor.

However, on October 29, 2024 Arinze-Umobi was replaced following appointment of Professor Bernard Odoh as a 'substantive Vice Chancellor.' In order words, her 'first coming' as Acting VC came to an end at about 97 days (three months and a few days) after producing "7th substantive" VC.

But the federal government quickly rejected Odoh's emergence as a substantive VC, removed him after 22 days reign, dissolved Mbadiwe's led governing Council and "reinstated" or "appointed" Professor Joseph Ikechebelu on November 20th, 2024. Arinze-Umobi is taken over from him again in Acting capacity as usual. She is actually the first woman to occupy that number seat in UNIZIK. Would she handover to Ikechebelu this year as a substantive VC?

As Ikechebelu exits from office in Acting capacity on May 19/20, is alleged that he would likely return elected as "7th Substantive VC" on or before six months when the election would be conducted. He has the capacity and other necessary qualifications if the relevant authorities find him worthy. In fact, many see him as the new VC in waiting.

Another thing that may work for him is his alleged good working relationship with Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of President Bola Tinubu, including the current Minister of Health, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate. Also in March 2025, he was quoted to have named Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Tinubu as among those selected to be bestowed with a Honourary Doctorate Degree at recently concluded 2023/2024 academic session convocation, which he (Seyi) later failed to attend.

Could that be why his tenure as Acting VC failed to produce a substantive VC within 6 months; a feat Professor Arinze-Umobi's tenure achieved in 3 months plus? Was it actually because of the new NUC guidelines that barred or prevent someone in Acting capacity from transforming to a substantive VC concurrently?

Nevertheless, there is hope in the new appointment or reapportionment of Professor Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi as Acting VC of the prestigious Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Arinze-Umobi is a go-getter. A statement signed by the Director, Press & Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, Boriowo Folasade, confirmed that hope and trust because it described her emergence as a reflection of adherence to statutory governance procedures.

"The ministry expresses confidence in Professor Arinze-Umobi’s ability to provide stable and result-oriented leadership during this transitional period. The Ministry expresses its satisfaction that the selection process was conducted in line with due process, as provided under Section 5(13) of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment) Act, 2003—through nomination by the University Senate and subsequent approval by the Governing Council.

"In her capacity as Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Arinze-Umobi is expected to oversee the day-to-day istration of the university, coordinate academic and istrative activities, and ensure the effective functioning of the institution.

"Her appointment, in line with Section 5(14) of the Act, shall not exceed six months or until a substantive Vice-Chancellor is appointed, whichever comes first. The Federal Ministry of Education remains committed to upholding transparency, university autonomy, and merit-based leadership across Nigeria’s tertiary institutions," the statement added.

Time shall tell.

The governorship candidate of Young Progressives Party (YPP) for Anambra State 2025 poll, Sir Paul Chukwuma has lamented over the students poor performance in academic examinations under Governor Chukwuma Soludo's istration.

Chukwuma, in a statement issued on Tuesday, described it as a promise broken into pieces given that recent examinations results had shown that no student from the State was able to feature in both regional and national lists of top states with students who made five credits in their senior certificate examination.

"It has never been this bad in over a decade. This is a promise broken into pieces. Under the current Anambra State Government, we have witnessed such a decline to the extent that Anambra State was unable to feature in both regional and national lists of top states with students who made five credits in their senior certificate examination. A gain now lost. For us as a people, it is a dangerous signal for our State and the future of our kids," he added.

He blamed Soludo's istration for the poor performance, which according to him, is shocking and evident of underdevelopment.

"We have witnessed a shocking decline in some of the key indicators of development in our State. Once the leading light in education for over a decade, the current istration in Anambra State has caused this gain to wither. Today, Anambra State has significantly dropped in education rating, much so that our state now comes behind Abia, Imo and Ebonyi States in of students' performance," he stated.

He, however, expressed hope in reawakening the State educational standard if voted into power on November 8 gubernatorial poll because with his 'New Anambra Agenda' would "build and sustain our progress."

Chief Uzu Okagbue, the Governorship running mate to the Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate, Sir Paul Chukwuma has alleged that governor Chukwuma Soludo is seeking to diminish the cultural foundation of Anambra State over petty grudges.

Okagbue, erstwhile aide to former Governor Willie Obiano, in a statement issued on Tuesday, was referring to crowing of President Bola Tinubu as Dikesimba Anambra, which he believed should have been be carried out by the world class Traditional Ruler of Onitsha, Obi Alfred Achebe.

"Obi of Onitsha stands; and will remain, a towering emblem of cultural nobility and traditional esteem. No amount of political gaslighting from a rudderless system, which ought to uphold and honor spiritually constituted authorities as seen in more enlightened societies, can diminish his preeminence in South East's traditional order," he noted.

According to him, Nigeria, and indeed the watching world, "are left to ponder: what deep malaise afflicts the current istration in Anambra State, that it would so shamelessly mock the very traditions that dignify it’s existence?"

"It is a pitiable spectacle when a government, driven by petty grudges, seeks to diminish the very cultural foundations it ought to defend, only to betray it’s own confusion and folly in the process.

"How does Mr. President visit Anambra State, home to the venerable Obi of Onitsha, the undisputed primus of the South East traditional hierarchy, only to be crowned by the Governor’s installed state chairman of traditional rulers?

" In it’s desperate bid to score transient political points against a sacred institution, the current Anambra State Government, not only offends the dignity of tradition, but also parades it’s own embarrassing incoherence before the nation and the world," he further maintained.

This vision is ed by a youthful and dynamic ‘Solution Team’ that has been instrumental in redefining governance. The istration’s focus on integrity, equity, and inclusiveness has led to significant strides in infrastructure, security, and economic development.

Governor Soludo’s mantra, “One State, One People, One Agenda,” underpins his commitment to unity and collective progress.

In of infrastructure, Anambra has seen a massive road and transportation revolution. Over 754 kilometres of new roads have been contracted, with 462 kilometres asphalted and completed. The state government has also rehabilitated five major water schemes, ensuring access to piped water for its residents. Additionally, the istration has embarked on a renewable energy initiative, converting over 26,000 diesel-powered streetlights to solar power. The construction of the state-of-the-art Government House complex and the remodeling and expansion of the Three Arms Zone are further strong pointers to the istration’s commitment to modernisation.

Economically, Anambra is positioning itself as a commercial and logistics hub. The establishment of the Anambra Mixed-Use Industrial City (AMIC) and the Pharmaceutical Distribution and Manufacturing Hub are proofs of the state’s commitment to industrialisation. These projects are expected to attract significant investment and create numerous job opportunities. The istration’s focus on digitalisation, including the establishment of the Solution Innovation District (SID), is driving the growth of the tech and digital economy. The SID has trained over 30,000 people in digital skills and ed over 100 new business ideas.

Governor Soludo’s istration has prioritised security, establishing new ‘Agunechemba’ security architecture anchored in technology and the “Homeland Security Law.” This has led to a significant reduction in criminal activities, with the dismantling of over 60 criminal camps and the arrest of numerous suspects. The istration has also made significant impact in justice delivery, including the full automation of the Anambra State Judiciary System and the establishment of virtual hearing facilities in 30 High Courts and four Correctional Centres.

The Soludo istration has made significant investments in human capital, focusing on education and healthcare. The istration has also embarked on a solar revolution in the power sector, installing solar streetlights and powering government offices through solar energy sources. Efforts to control erosion and improve waste management have resulted in significant environmental improvements.

Thus far, Governor Soludo’s progressive leadership has set Anambra State on a path of sustainable growth and development. Governance is more about responsibility than just holding an office. It is more about making impact and not merely making a show of power with all its paraphernalia. In an era where political rhetoric often eclipses concrete achievement, Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s recent town hall meetings with Anambra’s Diaspora communities in Lagos and Abuja capture the true essence of governance. The well-attended meetings were beyond political grandstanding and represented something far more significant: the embodiment of ability, transparency, and integrity in governance.

The packed venues in both cities testified to the governor’s drawing power and positive perception among Ndi Anambra living outside their home state. Indeed, what unfolded during the interactive sessions was not the typical political theatre of vague promises and evasive answers, but rather a logical presentation of a three-year scorecard backed by verifiable data and tangible results.

Professor Soludo, leveraging his academic background, approached these town halls with the precision of a scholar presenting research findings. His detailed exposition of achievements across infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, economic transformation, tourism, and more painted a picture of an istration guided by strategic vision rather than political expediency.

Particularly noteworthy was the genuine interactive engagement that characterised these meetings. Far from the scripted questions and rehearsed responses that often dominate such forums, attendees engaged in robust, spontaneous, sometimes challenging dialogues with their governor. This willingness to face direct questioning from citizens demonstrates a level of confidence that comes only from having substantial accomplishments to defend.

The endorsement from former Governor and Senator Chris Ngige at the Abuja town hall carried special weight. When Senator Ngige declared that he “came, saw and confirmed” that all the stories about Governor Soludo’s monumental strides are not mere publicity stunts, it represented another poignant cross-verification of Governor Soludo’s claims. Coming from a political figure with his own significant legacy in the state, this validation transcended partisan lines and spoke to observable realities on the ground, affirming the well-known fact there is no opposition in Anambra that can stop Governor Soludo’s re-election.

Throughout the Lagos and Abuja engagements, Governor Soludo consistently emphasized his unifying vision captured in the mantra: “One State, One People, One Agenda.” This philosophy directly challenges the divisive politics of regional favouritism that has plagued many Nigerian states. By declaring that he does not see Anambra as north, south, or central districts but as a unified entity with shared destiny, Governor Soludo is promoting a new political identity based on common interests rather than geographic divides.

The governor’s assertion that “Anambra is Rising” was not another fancy slogan but was substantiated through comprehensive data on economic indicators, infrastructure development, and social metrics. This evidence-based approach to governance reporting stands in stark contrast to the emotional appeals and sentimental narratives that typically dominate political discourse in our polity.

What makes these Diaspora town halls particularly significant is their recognition of the crucial role that Anambra citizens living outside the state play in its development. By actively seeking their input and , Governor Soludo acknowledges that governance extends beyond Awka to encom all who have a stake in the state’s progress, no matter where they live and do business in the world.

Also, the enthusiastic reception from attendees suggests that many Anambra indigenes see in Governor Soludo’s istration a departure from business-as-usual politics. Several participants expressed surprise at the level of detail provided about ongoing projects and their implementation timelines, information that empowers citizens to hold their government able. And by voluntarily submitting his istration’s record to the scrutiny of some of the state’s most accomplished sons and daughters, Governor Soludo demonstrates confidence in his stewardship and respect for citizens’ intelligence.

The true test of Governor Soludo’s governance model, however, will be when these engaging dialogues translate into a Second Term election of him to continue acceleration of transformation across Anambra State. For now, Governor Soludo’s unique Diaspora town hall engagements confirm that ability must go beyond being a governance principle and assumes a practical approach that can rebuild trust between citizens and their elected leaders. As Anambra State continues its upward trajectory, the governor’s commitment to keeping stakeholders informed and engaged will be as important as the projects themselves.

In a significant show of for Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo's bid for a second term in office as Governor of Anambra State, prominent oil magnate and philanthropist Arthur Eze has publicly endorsed the governor, labeling his challengers as lacking both credibility and vision. Eze expressed his iration for Soludo’s accomplishments over the past three years, emphasizing that divine destiny has a role in the Governor Soludo's leadership.

“No individual or group can defeat Governor Soludo in the election; he is ordained by God to continue leading Anambra to greatness,” Eze declared during a recent event. He underscored the belief that Soludo is doing transformative work that is elevating the state.

Chief Arthur Eze also appealed to Ndi Anambra, urging them to rally behind Soludo for the ongoing development of the state. “Soludo has character; his name ‘Chukwuma’ means ‘God knows His plan,’ which aligns seamlessly with his purpose and actions,” Chiefc Eze asserted, reinforcing his belief that Soludo is uniquely qualified to govern.

In response to the criticisms from opposition figures, Chief Eze condemned their challenges to Soludo’s re-election, asserting they are destined to fail. “They lack credibility and vision,” Eze said, highlighting his unwavering confidence in the governor's capability.

Simultaneously, Governor Soludo reaffirmed his commitment to the elevation and transformation of Anambra State. “Anambra has all it takes to be a great state. There is nothing we envision for Anambra that we cannot achieve,” he stated, noting the abundant human and natural resources available to foster growth.

With such a potent endorsement from a figure like Arthur Eze, coupled with Soludo’s proactive vision for the future, the governor’s re-election campaign is poised for increased momentum as it gears up for the 2025 governorship race. The backing of influential leaders may prove crucial as the political landscape continues to evolve ahead of the election.
