Been following this page, it's been indeed helpful for my B1/B2 visa interview, which held last friday. I have an issue, which I wish to know if anyone has encountered.

I was given a white paper, after my visa interview which i attended as a family with my Mum. The VO informed us that our application had been approved and we should expect to pick up the port in abuja in a few days.

Subsequently i received an email with a notice to collect my mums port at DHL but did not get any notice email for mine.I decide to check the visa status of both mine and mum. Her visa status is ISSUED but mine says istrative Processing, Last updated a day after the successful interview.

This is not my first US visa, but its the first time i have encountered this issue. Please, what does this mean? Does it mean the decision has changed from the Interview, Do I still have a chance? Or is it a denial?

For the interview, the transcript is as follows:

VO: Good morning and please me your port .

Me/Mum: Good morning (Hands over docs).

VO: Takes Biometrics for Both of Us.

VO: I can see you are The Mum.

Mum: Yes sir.

VO: She is your Mum
Me: Yes Please,

VO: Where do you work
Me/Mum: I am a Civil Servant At the Central Bank, I work at The Bureau of Public Enterprise

VO: Do you have other children

Mum: Yes sir.I have 3 other children all in school. 2 in the USA and 1 in High School.

VO: what are you going to do in USA
Me: I intend to travel in the summer for a short holiday and to visit my 2 kids in the process.

VO: Begins typing for a few minutes (nodes, brings out a white paper ) your visa application is good to go and has been approved. We will send you a mail inq couple of days when to pick up your port when visa is issued.

Me/Mum: Thank you sir.

Let me share my experience yesterday. The guy approached me immediately i alighted and asked if i had all the documents with me. I, of course, ignored him. He then became a nuisance and followed me about listing the documents...I'll quote him "you need the following documents, DS160 page, visa receipt, port, 2 port photos, coloured photocopies of DS160 and datapage of port. It's coloured copies they are collecting o. Let them not send you back.".
I knew the Consulate wasn't insisting on coloured photocopies...but i didn't make a copy of my datapage and that gave me a concern. So i asked him of the cost of making a photocopy...he replied "N1,000 for coloured and N700 for black and white per page". Since i was submitting for myself, wife and kids...i felt it was waste of money paying N4k for just 4 copies...He kept shouting "they will send you back o...you will have to get another appointment". I screamed back at him "back to sender"...lol

Alas, no one asked for either coloured copies or even a copy of the datapage when i got in to submit....

Let's ask all our questions here...i'll rather sound stupid here and get an answer than rely on an agent or a tout who is just after personal gains...

Are you referring to agents that help with IW dates or which touts are you referring to? Why do you warn against them? Just want to know if something happened you can share with us

Just dropped my documents (IW) at the consulate about 6 minutes ago…I was scheduled for 6.45am… process was smooth…please ignore the touts…I repeat, ignore the touts. Ask all your questions here…

Oh yes for session time out. I thought you were referring to lack of appointment

Server overload may be responsible for the incessant “session timed out” on the DS160 portal…I doubt if it’s responsible for lack of appointment dates…

I'm not sure this fully explains the issue because even when you call the embassy customer service they tell you there is no appointment.

The difficulty in getting the IW date is simply server overload.

To put it in context, keeping up with every new comment on this thread is more tedious compared to 30 days ago. And this is just a tiny percentage of Nigerians trying to get the IW dates. Extrapolating to the whole country can paint a picture of the number of people on the site at every given point.

Server overload happens when conditions cause a server to exhaust its resources so that it fails to handle incoming requests.

Please what time did you get it and how did you do it?

I just booked my dad application and he got Jan 9th 2024. And he is planning to visit Canada end of march. Is there any way we can get early interview date before end of march?

Another question, if we arent able to get appointment in Nigeria. Can we try in Canada, during his visit.

From what I have seen so far, it appears your chances are higher as a single applicant than when you have dependents. I have seen single applicants find available appointments and I couldn’t see those appointments at that same time (trying for parents with t application).

Should every member of family that qualifies book separately.

Dear House. please i need clarification on the requirement for IW ''Applicant must not have been refused a visa since the issuance of the previous visa, or had a visa revoked, or have ever required a waiver'' I'm applying for IW for B1/B2 but i have been refuse visa for F1 in the last 8 months. Does this rules mean i must not be refuse visa in any category or it applies to the B1/B2 category. please your advise is urgently needed.

So no biometric for IW. i'm curious to see how long it takes for the visa processing even though they have said to provide for up to 2 months. i dont expect they will take the whole 2 months.

My appointment was for 8am this morning. Got here 7:35 and I’m done . It was easy peasy. You get into that first check point area where there are lots of chairs and they check your old visa, receipt, appointment confirmation and Ds 160 confirmation page. They collect your port or ports and your port photo only and tell you have a nice day. That’s all.

If that is the case based on what you say, you should still be able to with your correct email address. I suspect there is something missing in your explanation.

If you used a wrong email previously, then you should not be suspended on your correct email since the attempts were with the wrong email. Or do you mean you used a wrong ?

I'm so sad. I forgot i used a different email for my and i tried the wrong one twice by the time i put in the correct one i got a message that i have been suspended for 72 hours because of suspicious activity. After March i will no longer be eligible for IW. I have been checking for dates all week and nothing pops up. Tried all advice gotten on the page, nothing, now i am on suspension�. I really hope i get a date when my is back up.

Just to keep trying really...attempts well spaced out (they recommend 3ce daily - morning afternoon night) so that you dont get frozen out or have your suspended for 72 hours (has happened to me previously)

Just got off the phone with the embassy. The embassy explains there are different slots for individual applicants and for t applicants. So if its only an individual applicant slot thats available, a t applicant will not see it and vice versa

Hi @oab1, that might actually be it as well. My colleague has also been on it for himself and his wife (t application) and he never sees a date too even when i did. He also raised it earlier... so just maybe.

Please what time precisely did you get your appointment? Is it for IW or regular appointment?

I paid visa fee this morning and got appointment just now. The appointment is feb 2023. My challenge is that my port will expire in January 2023. Please gurus advise me on what to do

Now i'm wondering if adding dependant has something to do with the difficulty. So the system probably sees you as requiring two or more slots (depending on the number of dependents you added). So if it doesnt have the number of slots you need at thesame time then maybe thats why you dont see anything.
In my case, its also a combined application for parents and i also didnt see any appointment while others (who likely have single applicants) were able to see appointment slots.

Maybe other people have taken up the slots. I have been trying since 4am today, then at about 9/10am and since about 11/12noon. My is about to be frozen out as i am now getting the message saying you're approaching the maximum number of times you may view the page. Sighs!

Thank you for this @Guse. I had started feeling bad too when i updated that people should check after i got mine this morning as well - reason i kept quiet so it does not feel like i sent people on a wild goose chase. I got a date for tomorrow, as at when i checked... there were 3 different time slots available for tomorrow. I wish everyone searching all the best.

I am literally speaking with the embassy now myself and they're also telling me there is no available appointment. I hope we dont have people just sending us on a wild goose chase on the forum
