Did he say this? I don't want to believe this because, if you can't solve the problem in a party and instead shift the blame on external forces, how do you want to solve Nigeria's problem where so many forces are constantly opposing your policies? They will form Boko. If you try to tackle Boko, they will tell you that you are killing northerners and will oppose your 2nd term election. If you try to force your way, you will be guilty of being autocratic which you have been accusing others of doing. 3 Likes 1 Share |

And you think if they intend to go agead with the recall, they wouldn't? I am sure the main reason for abandoning it is because they don't want to lay a precedence where the citizens will start instituting the recall against elected officials. Citizens will have something to hold unto. They will be like, if this is how it is done and it was successful against Natasha, why are you not allowing it now. In trying to fight another senators, you have laid a big problem for all senators. That is the problem here. They will simply wait until the next election to remove her. Dreal1247: |

Cancer loading. Some people were still running in the direction of the building. That guy crossed the road immediately to escape the fog. It is better that the building is uncompleted. Imagine that it is completed and occupied. It is well. |

This is just to discourage recall beyond the Natasha saga. They know that after the successful recall of Natasha, Nigerians will start making effort to recall non-performing elected officials which wasn't foreseen in the attempt to take out Natasha. |

You called someone a little kid yet showed one direction understanding of an issue. Does abandoning the USD mean trades will be done in each country's currency? Other countries can simply adopt another unified currency like the BRIC proposes. Why is the US always jittery when others try to adopt a different unified currency? It will not be easy at first because of trade disruption as a result of over 50 years of adoption of the USD. But the world will move on in 10 to 20 years. Iweakbro: |

No be fight na. But why US too come dey force people to use the US dollars. Why US dey always shout war war once a country suggest dumping the US dollars? Enwhen: |

The truth is no southern Kaduna person will vote El-Rufai if he is on the ballot. Even if he is just a VP to Obi. They will be like see person wey go kpai Obi to become the president. Only El-Rufai Islamists will vote for him. I can't imagine voting for the man myself. Someone who can empower those people to kill in my zone as a president. 1 Like |

There are so many things responsible but I don't have the time for long discussions. If you notice my posts on NL, you will notice that I only chip in one post, respond once or twice, and disappear. Even if you respond and I don't agree with your response, I won't reply because time is valuable. I still have about 5 projects to execute as I am typing. Obasanjo's government was favoured because our debt was canceled and we had the opportunity to concentrate on nation building but instead of building the nation, we were borrowing more to steal. The ill effect wasn't felt immediately but accruing. We were complaining of no light, no fuel, no water etc, Then Jonathan came. He foresaw this problem we are facing now but when he tried to tackle the problem, we complained. Even when we didn't have a good refinery, he tried to remove the subsidy. If he had done that, things would have become costly but not this much since we were importing foods then and we might have ed this phase. But we will wail all the same. We play too much dirty politics in Nigeria. We have an increasing but unproductive population and no patriotism. Too many ills to mention. During Jonathan's government, the opposition especially the north played bad politics and formed Boko Haram to frustrate him. Local food production was already affected but we didn't feel it because we were importing food. Buhari came and blocked importation to favour his people without addressing the insecurity. Even ignoring the insecurity might be a master strategy to achieve an aim. Then we have insufficient local supply and low importation which were mostly smuggled. The effect was an increase in price. Tinubu came and tried to solve another issue without addressing the food shortage. Transport become costly, affecting all sector of the economy... Managing an economy is a complex issue. Taking care of one issue always entails sacrificing another. Increasing wages will increase cost of production. If the cost of production becomes more favourable in a neighboring country, companies will leave your country resulting in few or no jobs and an increasing crime rate. Not increasing salaries means increasing poverty if no local production to force down prices. So you need to strike a balance. Okay! Let's increase production. Some people will create insecurity to frustrate you. Try to tackle the insecurity, then you hear "See they are killing our people" Naija tire me... All these oppositions talking trash now will have the same problem when they get there and their ers will switch from waivers to ers of the ills. Our main problem is unity of purpose. In Nigeria. Successive governments don't agree, parties don't agree, tribes don't agree etc. We don't say this is where we want to be in 50 years and work towards it together. Another government will come in to create it's own plans and actions and we continue to move in a circle like the old israelites. If you say, lets control the birth rate, some people will bring religious argument. Okay! If you want more population, your people must work. Haa... They are attacking our people and we will not vote you again. Thomthom: |

Not really. The hardship is everywhere and we are all angry. But that when "Nigeria was still great" is something I always find funny. We forget our suffering too fast in Nigeria. Back in 1994, I was very young but could how we used to go pack sawdust at sawmills to make Abacha stoves because kerosene was unaffordable. I bet a bag of rice wouldn't be more than #1000 back then. But today someone will bring out a 1994 price list and say "Haaa! When Nigeria was still great." Great is relative. DeepSight: 1 Like |

Nigeria was not great then. It is just that when an economy becomes worse people always look back and call the old suffering days great days. In some years to come people will look back and say "Haa! When a bag of rice was just #75,000. When Nigeria was great" forgetting that people were suffering and complaining then. Thomthom: 1 Like |

Noooo... That doesn't make any sense. They should simply be sent back to Israel. We want to see something. Let us see if Hamas will not bomb their head off when captured. By then they will be the ones begging America for weapons to fight back. Sonnobax15: 1 Like |

I have always said that minimum wage is an advantage. It is stupid countries with selfish leaders and citizens that are not making use of the opportunity. This is the problem of America. Wages and salaries constitute about 70% of the cost of production. Increased wages mean a more expensive good. An American would rather spend $100 to buy 20 tees from China than use the same $100 to buy 5 tees produced in the US. Countries will continue to buy from China because they can afford it. To sing tariff will mean that if Americans are buying a product made in China or Europe for $5, the goods will become expensive and Americans have to spend say $15 for the same goods. This will force American industries to start producing the goods. But since Americans won't accept low wages, the goods will still be costly but cheaper say $11. The Americans will complain about the rising cost of things and demand for an increased wage. If this is implemented, companies will complain again about the increased cost of production and increase prices again. And the cycle continues. The countries that are already complaining about the high cost of American goods will be forced further away. If Nigeria is producing cars, the cars will be cheap and affordable even to low-income earners. All we do is assemble which means the high wages paid to high-wage Americans and Europeans for produced parts have been factored into the cost. This is the same reason Dangote fuel will remain expensive despite the naira for crude agreement. The refinery was built with imported parts with the expensive wages paid to the Americans, Europeans, and Indians already factored in. Until this cost has been offset the price will remain high. papyjaypaul: |
