EmoBoy: Nigerians will always criticise what they don't understand. There is something called credit enhancement in infrastructure finance. Most foreign investors won't invest in naija because of the risks involved. For example the market risk - The electricity tariffs were too low but the government increased them. Also, Nigerians don't like to pay for anything, so the government promised them they'll repay any shortfall in revenues as a result of the market risk. Its even better here because the money will be repaid to the govt by the companies after they start making a profit in the long run. So let's not criticize what we don't understand.

I fully agree with you that we dont & neither do you except you are a beneficiary. Pls recall that we had Aviation Bail out by this same govt of which Jimoh Ibrahim collected over =N=30billion for Air Nigeria, went back to the office and immediately closed the company down on the most ridiculous excuse of disloyalty of staff. Has he been held able?? NO!

Was there not a Textile bail out fund??

Was there not a Banking Bailout fund? How did it benefit you the bank customer? Increase in Savings interest? or Access to low interest loans.

Trillions spent on Railway and it still takes 30 hours from lagos to Kano

This govt deserves not to be trusted as all they have done have been scams. Period!!!!

Honestly, i am extremely worried with our Security apparatus in this country. Only a few days before this Chad trip, the DSS woman came on National TV absolving the former COAS of sponsoring Boko Haram but categorically stated that Sheriff is under their investigation & we went to bed believing that he would be under surveilance and his movements restricted but alas, we were just bn fooled.

2ndly, if DSS were doing tracking him and the same DSS were also in possession of GEJ's itinery, should they not have alerted GEJ's Aide de Camp or did the advance team on ground not see Sheriff lining up on the tarmac before GEJ disembarked? At that point they wld have radioed the plane to get clarifications before GEJ stepped out and the Chadian President through his own ADC wld hv bn told that his visitor is uncomfortable wt Sheriff bn there. Sheriff will politely have needed the toilet

3rdly, what does it matter that Sheriff is the Chadian President bosom friend, what if he meant GEJ harm? Is this the type of old wives' tale Presidency will be giving us?

Presidency should learn to it their blunders and move on and ensure it doesnt repeat itself

And after having said all, GEJ has a lot to be blamed for this. He can insist to the Chadian President that Sheriff be excused, but rated, he was smiling like a Chesire Cat angry

Just like lagosians are the boss and Tinubu is the servant, even thou Tinubu has ruled Lagos for close to 16 years with little or nothing to show for it, by increasing school fees and frustrating ordinary citizen out of the institution only to reduce it now election is drawing near.

PDP Is bad, APC worst. Nigeria shine your eyes, we have the same bastards ruling and looting our treasury since independence they are not ready to let go, they think Nigeria belongs to them and ordinary citizens are tenants and must pay rentage like Lagosians are currently paying to Tinubu

Please tell me what manner of education you will receive on a school fees of 87Pounds Sterling or $147per annum How do you want to compete with others who have received quality education when its time for Job seeking?

Whilst people say PDP and APC are 2 sides of the same coin and therefore no difference, what worries me is the inability of Nigerians to accept the pathetically poor govts we have at all levels. We the people should be the main opposition through respective pressure groups like NLC; NBA; NMA; NANS; NUTRW etc but unfortunately, govt at al levels have used money to decimate all these groups.

Whichever one of us who agrees that any govt has done well is totally devoid of any standard in his/her life. The basic needs of any human being has not been given thorough policy consideration by any govt and i quote any govt. I know people are quick to reel out the perceived achievements of GEJ but my response is at what cost. You spend 1000% on what you require 10% to provide and you are applauded. His decision making lacks any form of depth and he is applauded embarassed SAD!!!

Coming down to the so called Performing Govs, i have used a particular road in a prominent area for 16 years and the road is destructive and yet, we hail them. The bottomline is we are our own Natural disaster & until each of us, me inclusive make a demand on our leaders to do the right thing, there will be no country to lead in the nearest future.

So, what should we do? Go to your local govt office and demand to know why services you pay tax for are not bn supplied. By the time they receive repeated visit from us regurlary, they will wake up

Did you really follow the so called "failed drivers license" story? If you did, can anyone blame it on the FRSC boss?

Who should i blame? Me that paid thousands of naira for a plastic card and undelivered service? If you cant manage and suceed in what you dont have any competitor, then you are a failure. The relative success of the swift obtaining of number plates is largely due to the efficiency of Lagos State govt agency that produces the number plates for FRSC as they see it not only as a service but as a business.

Pls; pls; pls, there is no excuse for failure on the drivers' license matter. The main bottleneck has been the data capture but for crying out loud, the British High Commision and USA embassy do over 1,000 data capture each a day, so its not rocket science.

And please, what goes into producing plastic cards that would cost each applicant thousands of naira Plain extortion!!!!

Cuche: Mr Chidoka? Goodluck get sense whalahi

He did well at FRSC
, he is a good and honest . He is not capricious like the man that will go all out to possess all funds the ministry can muster for personal use. to build personal shopping malls, hotels, beer factory, capitalize a bank, buy himself large stakes at Orient Petroleum whereas he is saving money, starving projects of quality and best practices they deserve. I am glad PDP stakeholders opposed the man's nomination strongly

Honestly, am aghast at the standard of measurement in Nigeria these days. A man who oversaw a FAILED drivers' license exercise for which FRSC has total monopoly is bn described as "did well??" SMH undecided

Total rubbish. was she not among obasanjo's cabinet
NOI left because of the mago mago that were going on but she kept her dirty self in the government because of little stipends

Go and check her record in OBJ's cabinet when she was in Due Process; Ministry of Solid Minerals and Ministry of Education. The facts speak for themselves.

Dont also forget that she was the one that demanded from Lamido Sanusi & Ngozi Iweala to explain how Billions of $ disappeared from Excess Crude whcih led to NOI saying it was shared by states and Rotimi Ameachi countering that he as gov never consented to the sharing.

Okupe tried to rattle her by casting aspersions on her budgets as Ministers and she challenged all of them to an open TV debate to scrutinize her spending in govt. Of course govt backed down becos they had nothing on her and thats why they are still running helter skelter to scuttle #Bringbackourgirls as they cant pin anything on her. She no be chop i chop woman o! She no need govt money o...she no poor when she enter govt o

Guyman02: Spot on: Many of us who have followed the CIA inspired Arab Spring protests and the most recent one in Ukraine for 'Regime Changes' in the middle east knew that the Chibok protests were not genuine and had foreign interference and interests.
Anytime you find all the foreign media consistently focusing on one event at the same time, know that their countries have interests on the country. CNN, Fox, BBC, NBC etc lied to their citizens to the invasion of Iraq which is still at war over 10 years after.
What the SSS is saying is what we in Abuja already knew and that was why they had to pay people to protest and when the couldnt get the desired crowd in Abuja, the western media and their CIA moved to Ukraine and left Nigeria.

As we say in Abuja, the US Marines are in Nigeria looking for GAS in the Lake Chad basin and not Chibok GALS. Across the Borno border Chad produces Oil run by French and Chinese companies

The all important question is, did you have the level of first hand information you have now about Chibok; Borno and Boko Haram devastation before Foreign media came to expose it? 2ndly, a few months before then, some secondary school boys were slaughthered in their dormitory and others abducted. Has our govt sought to recover them No!!!, which then gave strenght to the Boko Haram to come back for more which led to d abduction of the girls and the outcry.

In all your conspiracy theories from the comfort of your location, are you aware that there are Nigerian children in refugee camps for over 1 year in border towns with Nigeria who have been displaced by Boko Haram? We only knew this because SkyNews went to the Camerounian side to report from there because i suspect that they are no longer granted access to Borno State, they showed Borno from across the Cameroun border in that footage.

The shock there is that Nigerian children displaced for over 1 year have never been reported about nor givien any aid by Nigerian or Borno govt and these children were seen on TV starting their day in school singing the Camerounian Anthem but a lot of you dont care as long as the conspiracy theories suit you. Shame.

Talking about oil, Nigeria does not mean anything to USA in of Oil. USA started reducing their oil purchase from Nigeria over time as they had a plan in place unlike we that just squander ours and right now, USA shall become an Exporter of Oil and you are ranting about Lake Chad Basin. Nigeria is in the top 10 of GAS reserves in the world but we would rather use NIMASA to squeeze NLNG who had to eventually declare Force Majuere

chronique: We shouldn't be too quick in countering her statement without putting her reasoning to test. What if the DSS planted moles amongst the "bringbackourgirls" protesters there,to find out what's going on there? Let's not forget we're talking about the spokesperson for our secret service here;they probably must have done a few checks,to know what's going on. This is Nigeria where just about anything is possible.

You do not need a mole to know what #Bringbackourgirls is all about. All their activities are open for all to see and participate. Read through their twitter handle and you would understand their mindset and i can tell you categorically that every single KOBO donated to and spent by #Bringbackourgirls is detailed to the last kobo and can be accessed if you ask for it. Oby Ezekwesili does not give a hoot to all your accusations by FG, this woman has been like this since i first met her in 1992...it is not in her DNA to thief anybody's money. Ngwakwe: It's appalling to read about Lagos State Government evading responsibility using legal loopholes thereby running the most secretive type of government ever known in the history of this fourth republic.

It is now becoming obvious that there will never be any end in sight to this secrecy hence they are evading openness in the name of Legal interpretation.

Today, we can read clause by clause allocations in the Federal Government budget but hardly can we see or read such in any State government budget in Nigeria because they are hidden from the public.

The reality is that the opposition is using Lagos State as a front to judge the FG and yet Lagos State government has refused to answer some salient questions on good governance, probity and transparency thereby escaping scrutiny and criticism.

When the right activists demanded politicians declare their assets publicly, it wasn't about constitutional fulfilment rather openness and ability.

This action of Lagos State Govt is one of the attributes of repressive governments to actualise societal control and keeping people in check to discourage the activists and citizens from mobilising.

What people need to understand is that after British High Commision colletcs fees from you, they apply to CBN for Forex, which they might now wish to cut out that process or reduce to the barest minimum.

As for Oduah, she can walk and be proud. I knew, she would acquit herself in a public hearing.

I wonder where and why Lagos state comes into this?? Its very clear from the statement made from Customs at the hearing yesterday that Lagos state has nothing to do with this as you are insinuating.

Its this simple: For the purpose of National Sports Festival Hosted by Lagos state, an import duty waiver was granted to Coscharis to bring in/import cars for the use of the Festival. Coscharis then utilised the same waiver to cover the BMW cars so as to avoid duty payment & thats why Customs said no duty was paid on the cars. Simple. That action by Coscharis is proven is criminal and fraudlent

Guilty of what exactly? First, the people shouting know nothing about NCAA or the Aviation ministry and the laws establishing the agencies. NCAA ought to follow a Public Procurement Act in acquisition of assets and once it is established that it was not done, the head of the agency involved takes responsibility not the head of the ministry. Note that part of the procurement procedure could be approval from the ministry to go ahead with the procurement process. That was why Bode George was sent to jail and not the Minister of Transport.

When they were after Oteh in SEC for lodging in hotel and hosting delegates (clearly provided for in the her appointment privileges), no one mentioned that Olusegun Aganga was corrupt. The song was that Oteh is corrupt, even after when she exposed corrupt request from the HoR. When the economic crises hit Nigerian banking industry, Soludo(CBN head) was demonized, not the Finance Minister. When Maina looted pension funds, he was criticized as Maina, not Caleb Olubolade of Police Affair Ministry. When Farouk Lawan stuffed dollars in his cap, he was criticized, not the Speaker of House of Reps. But when Fola Akintotu of NCAA bought vehicles for NCAA, people decided to leave Fola and demonize the Aviation Minister.

If there is any crime that this woman has committed, I will like to know about it. But if this is still about a vehicle purchased by NCAA, the bigots should leave her alone and hold Fola responsible, a man judged by Nigeria to be qualified enough to take decisions affecting the Agency.

Point of correction: Mr Joyce Nkemakolam in his capacity as Acting DG of NCAA bought the vehicles

Deeply troubled by the quality of arguments/positions taken by "educated" Nigerians on the Bulletproof BMW cars saga.
Its just indefensible that NCAA & Aviation Min will argue that its from their IGR & therefore we have no say. WE DO!!
The IGR is our hard earned income that we pay as taxes at Airports and on Ticket purchases.
A 1 way ticket to PH from Lagos averages =N=16,000. Only =N=3k+ goes to the Airline. The rest is Tax.
A Lagos London ticket on Virgin is USD 444.01. NGN 172,711 represent taxes, fees, charges and carrier imposed surcharges. Its an obscene usage of our taxes & its condemnable. It must stop!

Why exactly should a normal Nigerian be bitter at the news of FG handover of PHCN to private inverstors after a more than 90% succesful privatisation process? I don't just get it. This PHCN strike you are talking about, will there really still be PHCN by the time it starts on October 2?

I think it will be better if you share exactly why you are not happy at this news to the extent of attempting to douse the implication. After the handover today, the successor companies will kick in to restructure the DISCOs and GENCOs for more efficient service delivery and I think that should be more important to any one that wishes Nigeria well.

For the sake of information, PHCN as we know it is functionally dead. They are being officially sent packing today and the corporate entity called PHCN will disappear after Mr President's handover. When that happens, EMS will be pronouced on the advice of NERC to the Minister of Power and their (EMS) job will be majorly the certification of electricity equipments among other ancilliary services, no more a main service. The implication is that SON may not just be incharge of the certification of for example, the electric cables anymore but EMS.

To understand exactly where we are in this privatization landscape, please, hear from the Minister here:
http://leadership.ng/news/110913/phcn-ceases-exist-few-weeks-nebo

If you can purchase researched works like the below, you will understand better what you are dealing with here. This is not just a goat meat pepper soup issue, but a very complex, well thought out policy that is so far recording almost 100% success. Now, let me state that non payment of few of the old PHCN workers as at today could reduce the success margin by not more than 5%, and a 95% success in power sector transformation target by any government any where in the world is a huge record.
http://www.hbs.edu/faculty/Pages/item.aspx?num=43266

The success of all the story above depends on a strong regulatory body. I have not heard FG assure us of any form of customer protection moreso when they looked the other way when Meter Maintenance charge rose from =N=250 per month to =N=750 per month. Where on earth do you slam consumers that % difference & it is collected whether you are supplied electricity or not....thats the impunity in Nigeria for an equipment that you pay for life but never own. I think, judging by the buyers, we are in for some serious oppression. I wish to be proven wrong
