Flush?? When will you people wake up and understand that there are many people in this government that are working with this West African amalgamation of fulani terrorists, in order to achieve their jihad agenda and seize territories.
These present rulers can never help Nigeria, they have been morally and spiritually compromised.

If you are not happy with the situation of things guy ! get your pvc and vote. Nigeria is not doomed. Infact you might be crying hunger here while millions of people are making it and are very happy. Life as never been FAIR. Some became millionaire over the night during Jonathan istration, hardworking Nigerians are also making under this istration.
"get your pvc and vote" -This clearly shows that you are living in cloud cuckoo land.
You claim you are patriotic, but it's very obvious you are delusional and living in denial.
If the fundamental issues are as simplistic as "get your pvc and vote", then Nigeria will not be in the situation she found herself now.
You saying millions are making it and millions are very happy, clearly shows you are quite detached from the Nigeria reality.
Your mentality is clearly 'dog eat dog" mentality, and definitely NOT about pride in Nigeria or the common good.
Go, continue to selfishly enjoy your "new money", while it lasts...! smiley

Like I said before, it's your likes that want the country to burn simply because you don't like the istration.
If things are not going right doesn't mean I should be cursing and praying that my nation is destroyed.
When you have a problem with your landlord you either have patience till you sort things out or you move out, you don't pray that the house burns when you are still an occupant in the house.
"If things are not going right doesn't mean I should be cursing and praying that my nation is destroyed.". -This statement clearly shows that you are very manipulative. So, according to you, when people are disappointed in those they elect and demand for good governance, including security of lives and properties, it means they want to burn down and destroy their nation.
The only explanation for your warped method of reasoning will be that, you are one of the very few benefitting from the chaotic situation.

Stop deceiving yourself! You are only proud of the activities of the wicked rulers because you are benefitting from it.
The wicked rulers are already destroying the country, and you are also wicked, devious and manipulative by falsely accusing those that are genuinely concerned about poor governance and state of affairs, that they are calling for the destruction of the country.
Wicked rulers are really your enemy though you don't know yet. undecided

So how come didn’t know that the percentage daily nutritional value on the table you presented was referring to 15g or 1 tablespoon of beans as standard potion?
See Oyinbo that made the table were considering their own single potion, they only use beans for tacos, hotdog and soup which does not contain more than 1 or 2 tablespoons.
At this moment, I'll like to thank you for finding the time to be engaged in this nutritional discourse. Best wishes. smiley

Nutritionally, there is no siggnificant difference between someone who eats the right potion of Unprocessed Eba with soup and meat or rice with stew fish compared to another who eats beans. They are both eating carbohydrates and protein meals. Beans is wrongly overrated as protein.
Just a little correction. Animal based food like meat, fish, egg. milk all have zero% or not significant daily value of carbohydrates. There are mostly high in protein that is why they are classified as proteins.
At this point in our discussion, if you are still holding unto that old myth that beans is a healthy food option for diabetics, then there is nothing more to say. The reason is that before diabetic could derive the benefit of other nutrients from beans, they would have been over fed with the carbohydrate content. We don't need logic to understand this simple fact. But, why do you want to give all that carbohydrate which you know quite well that it will eventually be converted to sugar from metabolic activities for the diabetic? What about other foods like vegetables and lean meat and fish?
Lastly, I see that you avoided the maths part of our discussion in your last reply. I know why. It is because all these while you never released those figure in daily values were for just a tablespoon unit. But as a typical Nigerian, you want use gra gra cover your tracks. lol

Did I propagate at any time that a diabetic should not eat any other food apart from beans?
The point I've repeatedly made is that eaten beans gives the diabetic a reasonable bulk meal with good amount of plant protein without them having to taken in so much carbohydrates like rice, bread, garri or yam which raises the blood sugar levels when they break down.
Is it practicable, especially in this clime, for a diabetic to live only on vegetable, meat and fish?
I'm not your average Nigerian so I don't need to do "gragra" for my junior.

Your strange calculations was ignored because it's obvious you're a very poor student of maths- I know because I've taught maths and science. Wisdom dictates that I should protect my mental health from your mathematical gibberish. undecided

sonnie10:

Everything I have said is based on the information you have presented. Where we defer is that I disagree that beans is a healthy food option for diabetics because it is not based on science evidence or knowledge.
Let us take the maths aspect slowly, maybe that would help clarify this issue
If an average healthy man eats 10 -20 tablespoons of beans.
And 1 tablespoon of bean has 8-10% of max daily required carbohydrate (Note, nobody eats just 1 tablespoon of beans)
Therefore 20 spoons would have 200% of daily required carbs In just one meal!
Now, if this 200% of daily required carbohydrates is what you are ing to be a healthy food option for diabetics, then that is reckless. There is no way your uncle eats only one tablespoon of beans (10% of daily requirement).
Beans is erroneously being regarded more like protein instead of carbohydrate by most Nigerians.
The standard for food label is that it must be classified based on it major content. In this case, bean should be carbohydrates. These are the scientific facts.

Let me start from where you stopped:
If Beans is taken as carbohydrates, then according to your logic, all natural foods should then be classified as carbohydrates, Including animal food products.
This your line of reasoning will be essentially warped. Why? ... because there is no natural foodstuffs that has up to 50 percent protein content when lab tested.
So, according to your logic, they should all be classified as carbohydrates. cry

Secondly, you missed the point I made about beans being a good meal option for diabetics.
Let me break the point down a bit more: The bean(and most leguminous grains), is high in percentage plant protein and other essential nutrient elements compared to most other staple foods like rice, yam, bread etc.
It is no secret that most common Staple foods are essentially carbohydrates. Knowing that the end end product of the breakdown of carbohydrates is sugar. This sugar end-product of the common Staples when eaten bountifully, raises the blood-sugar level of diabetic patients to an unhealthy level.
This is where beans(and other pulses and legumes) comes in helpful.
Beans is a foodstuff that has all the essential nutrients like carbohydrates, protein, fat and oil in good quantity, compared to other Staples like rice, bread, yam etc, that are essentially very high in carbohydrates and very low in other essential nutrients.
IThats why it is much easier for children to survive mainly on a diet of beans without having kwashiorkor than only on those other staples listed above.
The logic is that a diabetic will therefore be able to get most of his basic essential nutrients in a portion of a bean meal without the risk of having to consume a large portion of other high carbohydrates based staples that raises the sugar levels.

sonnie10:

You position is that bean is a better alternative compared other staple foods in Nigeria when it comes to managing diabetes. This is a wrong proposition because of the high carbohydrate content of beans.
, those nutritional values you have is based on 1 tablespoon size. Now aske yourself, how many spoons does an average person eat in one sitting? Many 20 minimum. So multiple those figures by 20 and you see how much carbohydrate your uncle who has diabetes eats in one sitting. That is dangerous!
Now, that is the reason why personal experience cannot be used as evidence in to come to any scientific conclusion.
"You position is that bean is a better alternative compared other staple foods in Nigervia when it comes to managing diabetes"- --Are you trying to allocate a "position" for me with the above sentence?

Did you read in any of my posts where It said it is a "better alternative" compared to other Staples in controlling diabetes? We all know that there are many eating habits and lifestyles that can help diabetic patients.
I want to believe we are having an honest exchange of ideas and not presumptions.
The point we are on about is me pointing out that beans is a very good and healthy meal and high in protein, and it's not overated as the impression I felt you tried to on.
My friend, those values in the charts show percentages. The percentage of protein you get from 1 tablespoon or a seed of beans is the same percentage of protein you'll get from a tonne of the same beans, as long as the beans are of the same dry mass. This is science and it's also mathematics.
We are comparing percentages protein in a given mass of a particular food stuff and the same mass of beans, not about how much tablespoons my uncle can eat.
I'm yet to see your own scientific evidence that made you come to the conclusion that 'good-ol' beans is nutritionally overrated.

None of this is nutritional fact based on evidence. Diabetes and beans is just myth, no fact. Beans has more carbohydrate and sugar like most plant based food.
You're wrong again! There are lots of evidences to the nutritional facts I stated earlier.
Some facts are confirmed by friends, acquaintances and personal experiences over the years.
I had a diabetic Uncle, and I know how beans consumption helped him to manage the sugar intake in his diet compared to eating heavy carbohydrates diet.
The point is not about disputing that beans is not high in carbohydrates, but that it's quite high in plant percentage protein compared to many plant-based food, which makes it very healthy.
In addition, the legumes are good in diet for someone recuperating from illness like malaria due to high iron content to help boost depleted red blood cells from the plasmodium attack- I'm talking from personal experience now.
I believe your chart is showing percentage protein in certain meal serviings, and not actual percentage protein by mass in different legumes as shown below

Beans isn't that rich in protein as many folks assume.

Legumes in general has more carbohydrates content than protein. And beans being a legume actually has more carbohydrates content than protein.
Wrong logic! What you you should consider is percentage of protein compared to other foodstuffs.
Very few food can compete with legumes in percentage of protein.
In addition, beans is very high in iron which is very good for the blood.
There is also evidence that it helps control blood sugar levels thereby good for diabetics.
