What's the specs of the inverter and charge controller? This will guide the connection.
isentropic:
Please I have a question..
I have on ground 5KvA growatts hybrid inverter,120A felicity Charge controller,15KWh felicity battery.12 jinko s-440Watts with 5 extra 450watts jinko s that I can use if need be.
Installer one said 12 s on 120A cc and 6 s on inverter itself since it is hybrid-80mmpt cc .According to him, this is to allow proper charging of the 15KWH battery. He also said he will connect the s 3 in series.
Installer two said the 12 s on the 120A charge controller is enough to charger the battery.I just need an independent verifier though I am yet to get the installation quote from both of them

No, I'm using Deye inverter but some suggests using protocol 51 on growatt inverter depending on the model you're using.
You can check the manual for guidance.
Float voltage is lower than the charge voltage, mine sits at the 58.4v for certain minutes (I've not really taken note of the actual duration) when it gets to 100% before dropping down to the float voltage of 53.6v.
kristien4:
Do you use growatt inverter? What protocol are u using?Because the protocol i selected, charges to 58.4 and floats at 58.4 too. Thought lifepo4 charges and floats at same voltage??
|
Ferdiwar: 8:46am On Jun 06 |
Deye BMS are usually programed to charge to 3.65/cell (58.4) and float @3.35/cell (53.6). I've been using mine with the comm connected since 2023 and it's been working great.
I'll recommend you install the comms back and set the protocol appropriately.
kristien4:
Okay, i use same battery though with a Growatt inverter, looking for a perfect voltage to set it at, as i disconnected communication between battery and inverter. As Growatt charges to 58.4v when communication is used. Though ive been charging at 56.8. I never get power for deye inverter now. Its around 1m.

SourYoghurt: please guy, what's your experience with Thermocool Inverter Freezers, Does it freeze and ice liquid like conventional freezers when used with solar.
My current freezer, barely freezer things probably because it's older.
Please, I need your guidance.

Most grid tied inverters does not battery input.
Then for a wonderful country like Nigeria it will be a waste of investment getting a grid tied inverter as the inverter needs a grid input to function and we all know how superb our national grid is.
Get a Hybrid (my recommendation) or stand alone inverter for your intended project.

Good afternoon, Please can one use a Grid-tie Inverter with battery? If Yes, how can it be done and any advice to go for it or not
I want to buy one and send to Nigeria, most I see are grid-tie (Sunny Boy SMA)
Thank you guys for the good works you are all doing

1. Consistent overloading of the inverter.
2. Installation of the inverter in a hot environment with inadequate ventilation.
3. Improper/inadequate protection.
4. Improper setting/configuration.
ask4bk:
What do you call "misuse"?
They hit it with a hammer or what?
Or is the misuse that they just use heavy loads not meant for HF inverters and they fail in less than 2 years? If its the latter, then what was earlier said was correct.
If none of this, then in what way do they "misuse" it?
I'm honestly trying to learn

Share a picture of your inverter spec sheet and the spec sheet of your s if available.
Your inverter producing less than 40a shouldn't make the battery to not exceed the voltage you described, it can only result in longer charging time if the charging source is consistent for that length of time

That 56⁰c temperature reading for the inverter is kinda high ooo
GloryJoyeux:
Indeed today’s sun seemed like one of the best for solar yield in the past few weeks.
I charged at a steady 9kW (170Amps) for over an hour straight.
Another benefit of 48v systems, 24v system will essentially be 340Amps for same charging speed and battery capacity.

Good Morning to everyone
I apologized to everyone concerned especially to LetLoveHeal who I tagged a scammer but before you blame or come at me,,here's what happened..
A guy posted same thing @LetLoveHeal posted on Gaming section sunday...I ed the person and we agreed on price..
I sent money but he refused to send item...I ed him again and he refused to reply or even attend to calls..I was really angry not because of the money but because someone I have done business with on NL for years also scammed me of close to 1m...
So I came back to NL gaming section and the person has cleared the post..so while going through the Clearance and technology section I saw the same posts again so I assumed he's the one who scammed me..Yes the monikers were really identical and he ed around 2021 too..
Infact after the real person chatted me I still didn't believe he isn't the one I transacted with, perhaps he used another number,,but because some persons here defended him to have come through with their transactions,,I'm convinced he's not a scammer...
Here is the number that posted on Gaming section +234 815 249 0506....
I have apologized to real @LetLoveHeal and I will email the mods too.
I apologize to everyone here too for not doing my due diligence before calling him out....but of you were in my shoes too,you may act the way I acted.

When last did you equalize the batteries?
skywalker95:
I need assistance with my tubular battery. I just topped up with distilled water for the first time and I notice the battery is now dying faster than usual. I ensured the battery was fully charged before topping the water to prevent overfilling it and I have noticed no spilling since I filled it. For the past three days, the voltage drops to 24.5 once the sun goes down and it was not like this before.

I connected it to the earth/ground port of my inverter and the DB.
fuckboys:
I'm taking your advice chief, I just bought a 4ft earth rod and charcoal with salt to earth my system.
I wanna do it myself cos I feel it's a simple something that doesn't need an electrician.
Should I link it directly to the earthing of the inverter? Cos the inverter has an earthing port.

That's a bad idea... Get a good stabilizer instead.
Darey00:
Haa wàhálà o.
Our grid too dey very low so the protector (abinna breaker) cuts off power before it gets in the Inverter if it goes below the threshold (170v by default).
But as per say we rarely do 170v (we mostly get 150-162v on the average), I set the threshold to 150v.
Now I'm thinking that's not a good idea. 🥹

For me it's not a yastic not to buy it if it has a good performance track records.
My Deye battery does not have display and it's not equipped with smart BMS and I've not for once had any reason to even check it and the battery performance has been super great since purchase.
HeavenlyBang:
Yeah, that makes it a no-go for me unfortunately.

If you're living in a rented apartment with a central earthing, disconnect it and install yours it will stop.
I had same experience and after I did that (t 2 4ft earth rods together and drove it to the ground and linked it to my connection) it stopped.
Jonescosmos advised me then to run an independent earthing for my setup and it's been working great since then.
I later found out that an electrician looped my neighbors neutral to the earth terminal in the DB.
fuckboys:
i totally understand you chief but out nepa light here is terrible and always fluctuating, I don't want it damaging my inverter so I won't by the central stabilizer.
What i plan doing is putting a breaker between the battery and inverter, so I'll just switch of the breaker whenever I wanna touch or access the battery since the shock is only on the battery.

I currently use the Jinko 625w and it's 13+A
favouredbymercy:
The other option is better than this. Almost all jinko s up to 605w have a current rating around 13amps. From 610w up has around 15amps (you can check out their specs sheets to confirm). Future expansion would most likely be series connection. So if you get the 620w now, know you would stick to the 610w + going forward.

Thank you so much🙏🏼

You can monitor your Deye inverter online using the Deye app or solarman app but just like most if not all inverters, it has a 5mins delay meaning you get performance Data every 5 mins.
But the solar assistant you get a real time update.
kristien4:
For example, u mean after buying a Deye inverter, youll still have to spend over 200dollars to enable you monitor online? Same thing growatt does for free with a followcome dongle??

You can ground the metallic body of the charge controller and the inverter.
favouredbymercy:
Ok sir. Please can the powmr controller be earthed? Because there is no port for earth. Or which part of the setup would be connected to earth since i am to use a psw sachet inverter. Or doing just normal house earthing is sufficient?
Thanks so much for your response sir.

You can use a circuit breaker and fuse, but you need to install an earthing.
You can buy a long earth rod and drive it to the ground and run a connection from it to your setup
Avoid the cut out fuse
favouredbymercy:
Good day all
Please is using breaker for solar input enough to protect this controller? I intend to use the normal cut out fuse after breaker, to manually remove when its about to rain. Will this idea work? s are in series, so maximum current input cant be higher than 15amps.
Please what is the simplest way to protect the controller from damage and how have you guys using it here been able to protect it for long from damage. Thanks for your reply
