Thank you, yes it dropped my JSS but luckily another client ended an old contract with good so it increased again. Thank you.
dreamxhaser:

Nooo!

I had similar issues in the past. In fact I ignore them most of the time till it automatically refunds. But it will affect your JSS.

Next time (hope there will be no next time) use that 7 days to hunt new CL before it refunds and impacts your JSS.

I even had similar experience on Fiverr. The client was being a jerk. So he requested cancellation, I rejected the cancellation, and until the customer intervened.

Please I need help if someone has experienced something similar. A contract didn`t go as expected and the client requested for an escrow refund which I approved, but it seems I also have to give the client for the approval to be successful.
Upwork sent a reminder again this morning that the money will be returned to the client automatically after 7 days (I have 2 days to approve or reject the request). Will my be suspended for not approving the request?

Hello chief. Is the certificate recognised globally?
Yes it is. This is a reply from the University of Maryland, Baltimore when I asked them if it’s possible to use the degree for a Masters program.
So yes, it’s possible

Your story is similar to mine. Although I just finished from a Federal University last month. I studied a course I was interested in (Agric) so I’ve decided to start a new degree in September to read B.Sc Information Technology (I started working in Tech too while in my 4th year).

You can check this school, it’s an Open University and the curriculum is top standard. I’ll advise you to still go to school. https://miva.university/

You’re still young and before you know it, you will be done. Your degree will complement your work experience too.

Thank you sir for your input, so far people have been saying go to school, i think am buying the idea, I might later settle with Art course, something like Business . Although my wish is to study tech related Course but Maths is scaring the shit out of me🤧

Okay
ThinkSmarter:
NOUN follows NUC ission guidelines.
Don`t think an Agricultural science graduate can be offered ission in PGD iT in the 1st place.
Emeraldfynest(m): 7:46am On May 20, 2024
Good morning everyone. So I studied Agriculture for my Bachelor's Degree, but I`m planning to apply to some schools abroad for Master in Experience Design since I`ve been working as a UI/UX Designer for almost 3yrs now.
Someone advised me to do the PGD in Information Technology first to boost my chances because I also have a very low CGPA.

Has anyone been in these shoes and what worked for them? And also, how acceptable are NOUN degrees when applying to schools abroad. Thanks.

Yes I'm the one who wants to learn. I'll keep you updated, thank you.

Thanks so much, finally got it, also let me know if you need any help, I can find time to explain JS

Modified: Sorry realized it's a different person that sent the link and wanting to learn the course
Emeraldfynest(m): 7:15pm On Apr 11, 2024
Alright Chief, thank you so much
qtguru:

It's not bad, it's a soft blow to Introduction to JavaScript because JavaScript and HTML DOM API is a lot but for 50,000 naira it's not bad, just take this in mind, that no course can teach 100% so I will suggest getting a good book on JavaScript. Look for this book Professional JavaScript for Web Developer.
Emeraldfynest(m): 6:48pm On Apr 11, 2024
@qtguru
So I'm a UI/UX Designer who has been deg for about 2yrs now, but I want to upskill to become a Design Engineer. I've not really written code before, but I know basics of HTML which I took for about a week before I abandoned the course then. I saw this bootcamp by Joe Brendan for anyone who wants to become a Design Engineer, the major language is JavaScript, although the first week will be a crash course on HTML and CSS.

While it claims to be beginner friendly, will you advice me to go through this path or you have better suggestions? This is the curriculum

I'll just say Keep applying, optimize your profile very well and make sure you have good work samples in your portfolio.
Also, learn how to write really good proposals. You can check YouTube for videos.

Alright thank you.

You can open Access Bank USD and store your money there , really sorry about that, because saving in Naira loses value these days.
Emeraldfynest(m): 6:03pm On Jan 28, 2024
Hello Chief, good evening. Pls where will you advice someone saving money to travel to the UK to save up in?
It would've been easier if Grey and Geegpay are local banks but I advised them.not.to.leave money there. The money is losing value everyday. Do you think a dorm with one of our banks here like GT, First Bank, etc will be better for now?
And should the person save in USD or GBP?
This is the value of 5 million naira now, not even up to 2,700 pounds.
qtguru:
Search for his name on Twitter, although he sells a course but the free advice is enough to get by, the main thing with Upwork is upskilling, only uou can teach yourself with YouTube, waiting for a mentor is a waste of time, else you'll end up buying their courses , which is not bad if you have money to spare.

Emeraldfynest(m): 12:58am On Jan 14, 2024
I guess I'll just leave it then in case he responds later. Thank you.
qtguru:

I just ended contracts from 1 year ago, most don't bother to leave a review if you don't ask. I have tons of projects completed without reviews.
Emeraldfynest(m): 10:26pm On Jan 11, 2024
Alright thank you.
beautycrush24:

No, I don't think so. A contract has to end for the client to write a review. Even if he wants to give a review on his own, he has to end the contract first. I'm not very certain though. Maybe someone else can shed some light on that part
Emeraldfynest(m): 9:43pm On Jan 11, 2024
Yes we're totally done and he doesn't have any corrections or review about the job. But if I end the contract myself, that means I've closed any chances of him leaving a review right?
beautycrush24:

If you're sure you're done working together and he has paid already (not under review o), then you can go ahead and end the contract yourself. You can also politely ask him for a review. Since that's your first job, you'll definitely need that 5 star review
Emeraldfynest(m): 6:15pm On Jan 11, 2024
Hello guys, good evening. So I got my first Upwork job like 3 weeks ago, it was a website redesign job for a client and I finished the job well.
The client liked it and has even given it to a developer to implement.

But after I handed over and he paid, he didn't end the contract or leave a review, it's been more than a week now. I've messaged him but no response.

Can I send him an email even though that's against Upwork's rules? I really need that review as my first so I can also get my JSS.
Pls what do you think?’

Yeah that's true, I've seen some good schools there but the fee is crazily expensive, like 30,000 USD for a Masters program. My other option may be to go through work, cos I'm a UI/UX Designer and I see it's quite in demand there, lots of jobs. Thank you.
NwaliE01:

You're right. Student route is the easiest means of getting here. But you can try Getting PR from Nigeria. I know some couple of persons that came with PR.
Emeraldfynest(m): 9:58pm On Nov 22, 2023
Australia is a good country, I even discovered it pays the highest minimum wage. How did you move there? Through study or work?
NwaliE01:
This is one of the most sincere advice I have seen for a very long time.
I am in Australia, and I can categorically tell you that migrating to this country was the best decision I made last year.
Emeraldfynest(m): 11:18pm On Nov 04, 2023
Hmm, getting out of Nigeria seems to be getting harder. Is it not possible to apply from another country?
tensazangetsu20:

If you can even get the visa sef. Portugal visa is very hard to get as a Nigerian even to go and study.
Emeraldfynest(m): 10:47pm On Nov 04, 2023
But do you think Portugal is worth moving to again?Because it has one of the lowest salaries in the EU, see the minimum wage, and this is before tax. I read on Reddit and even YouTube videos that the cost of living is now high due to the influx of digital nomads and remote workers from the US who can afford to pay the high rent costs, unlike the locals who earn low wages.
But I agree it's cheap to move there though, I even saw a school for just 2000 Euros a session.
The citizenship is another perk too cos the port is quite strong. What's your opinion pls?
tensazangetsu20:

Actually and Portugal have pathways to citizenship. Portugal is the only EU country where your kids can be a citizen after they are born provided the parents have lived there for more than a year. Naturalisation time is 5 years. is 8 years and that nonsense about student jobs not being available is a lie.

Emeraldfynest(m): 7:04am On Oct 21, 2023
Good morning everyone. Glad I came across this thread, but I think the visa categories are confusing me. Do I qualify for the EB - 3 Visa as a UI/UX Designer working in Tech with 3 yes of professional experience? The only issue is the permanent employment with a US company though, which I don't have.

But is there any other category I can apply for given my background? My B.Sc is in Agriculture though, so not something related to what I do now, thanks.
