Sixfeetbelle:A few salient things to note: - EPC rating : C and below (C, B or A). EPC of D is only advisable as a temp solution. - Council tax: A is cheapest (that should guide you). - Ensure you make a video & take pictures of the apartment the day you move in. - Ask for the Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), Gas Safety Record Report (GSR) & Legionella Risk Assessment Report (LRA): even if you don’t understand the technical , make sure everything is certified OK on the reports. - Ask for the Inventory and cross check it with what is in the apartment. - Take your meter(s) readings and call the energy supplier that day to inform them of your move in date and readings. You can decide to switch or remain with them but ensure you give them that readings. - Don’t choose a fixed contract in the first 2/3 months. Understand your usage & bills before going for Fixed. 8 Likes 3 Shares |

Saw this on a walk (Glasgow). I know the APR will be high for an offer like this, but does anyone know the APR range? And what are the cons?

mayowa94:1. You can. 2. Not really, just show consistent income and add your offer letter + 6 months payslip. 3. I added my house contract, bank statement (£2,500 bal), AMEX credit card statement, her cover letter, my invitation letter, birth certificate, our pictures together, her CAC docs + pictures of her in front of her 3 shops, picture of her and her dog (emotional animal), her 4 months bank statement (N500k bal), letter from her Pastor. She was denied visit visa to 2 Schengen countries this year, but UK gave her the 6 months visa. 9 Likes 4 Shares |

Lilipo:Because you have a "fantastic credit rating" and being chased to apply for credit cards does not mean people (especially new entrants) should get interest free credit cards and cancel every 3 - 6 months. It might have worked for you but that does not mean in entirety that it is the right thing to do as a new comer. The same way someone earlier inferred that, as they got post study visa within 2 days, that should be the norm. Also, as I don't agree with your opinion, you don't have to agree to mine. So your last line was totally superfluous 2 Likes |

Lilipo:Been using AMEX and Vanquis for about a year now and I have not paid any interest on them. Cancelling cards and re-applying for new ones because of interest free purchases is not being smart with money, it is recklessness and it is not a good way to build credit history/credit score. Plugging this here for others: 1. https://americanexpress.com/en-gb/referral/dAVIdEzYpk?XL=MNMNS (5,000 Avios if successful) 2. https://www.vanquis.co.uk/raf-app?code=C451F46B8165EA9CC9E1 (We both get £25 if successful) 3 Likes |

heroshark:As an ex-investment banker, I will tell you that it is just a catchy advert. 1. Earn up to 8.09% - no guarantee that it will be up to 8.09%. It is not a fixed rate and it is subject to prevailing market conditions (US interest rate is currently 5.5%) 2. Interest is gross - subtract tax, management & interest fees, net interest rate might be 4% -5% or lower 6 Likes |

AgentXxx:On this, I helped draft the email below and so far, I have had 100% success rate from people I shared with. Let the student send this to the council ccing the partner. Good evening, My name is xx, a full-time international student at xx University and my partner's name is xx. I reside at xx. I had initially requested a council tax exemption as a full-time student but was told my partner is a liable party for council tax because he is not a full-time student. We received the attached bill to this effect for the period xx 2022 - xx 2023 wherein it was split into xx equal installments. However, Article 3 of the Council Tax (Exempt Dwellings) Order, SI 1992/558 provides that 'A dwelling is exempt from council tax if it falls within any of the following Class N: a dwelling which is either: (a) occupied by one or more residents all of whom are relevant persons; (b) occupied only by one or more relevant persons as term time accommodation. A relevant person means: (i) a student; (ii) a student's spouse or dependant being in each case a person who is not a British citizen and who is prevented, by the of his leave to enter or remain in the UK, from taking paid employment or from claiming benefits or (iii) a person to whom Class C (school or college leavers) of regulation 3(1) of the Council Tax (Additional Provision for Discount Disregards) Regulation 1992 applies. From the foregoing, please note that I belong to category a(i) I am a student and my partner belongs to category a(ii) he is the spouse of a student. We are both non-British citizens and his visa prevents him from claiming benefits. Subsequently, we qualify for the 100% council tax exemption. Furthermore, please see below links citing cases whereby 100% exemptions were granted to student dependants by the Court: https://www.casemine.com/judgement/uk/5a8ff72860d03e7f57ea8dcf/amp https://www.lawgazette.co.uk/law/local-government/65852.article We look forward to your kind response.. Councils dread court cases most times as it does not make sense to be dragged to court for £150/m tax. 36 Likes 12 Shares |

joe10:You are mis-interpreting the statement. When you get a Tier-2 visa and you have a partner, technically you become the MA and your partner becomes a dependant if they decide to apply under you. Therefore, to get ILR in 5 years, you that got the Tier-2 must be the MA for 5 years, and your partner must be a dependant for 5 years. That's all. 4 Likes |

igbsam:You can be an electrician on Tier-2 and get sponsored as a doctor and it would not reset. The rule of thumb to get ILR within 5 years once you get a Tier-2 is: - Once a Main Applicant, always a Main Applicant. - Once a Dependant, always a Depandant. 5 Likes 1 Share |

elengine:I have a similar arrangment with my firm though I am not an auditor. It doesn't increase your credit score as it is not technically ed to you, but I have indirectly enjoyed some delay compensation payment from Avanti & other Train lines Someone also mentioned TopCashback and I would say that is a very good platform. I have garnered a few £s on it using the firm's card for business purchases of course ![]() 6 Likes |

kwakudtraveller:Sometimes, it has to do with determination. For every 1 failed BA. there are 5 more pushing through and mastering the ropes. Most people love the idea of being called a Business Analyst without fully understanding what it entails. I won't blame the short courses sellers though.. they are proviiding the needed frontline soldiers for a war that might not end tomorrow. The good thing from that is - to be a Captain or a General, you must have survived from the frontlines! 4 Likes |
