TonyeBarcanista: Let this government continue coming up with placing all sorts of bottlenecks and taxes to make investments from foreigners or even Nigerians abroad difficult or impossible. They always argue that investments in Nigeria will never stop since Nigeria is the biggest blah, blah, blah. Well, only a fool believes that his customers will continue coming even when he sells at the most expensive price and makes it difficult for the customers to even repatriate their goods after paying for it. 1 Like |

onez: The Nigerian judiciary has been reduced to a mere extension of the executive branch, compromising the very essence of democracy. This situation highlights the urgent need for a truly independent judicial branch to ensure good governance and uphold the rule of law. An independent judiciary is crucial for several reasons: Checks and Balances: An independent judiciary provides a check on the powers of the executive and legislative branches, preventing any single branch from becoming too powerful. Rule of Law: Judges must be free to make decisions based on the law and not influenced by political pressures or financial dependence on the executive. Protection of Rights: An independent judiciary ensures that the rights of individuals are protected against arbitrary actions by the government. Public Confidence: When the judiciary is independent, the public has more confidence in the fairness and impartiality of the legal system. In many African countries, including Nigeria, the judiciary's dependence on the executive branch for funding has led to a compromised system where justice is not served. This undermines democracy and erodes public trust in the government. For democracy to thrive in Africa, it is essential to establish judicial and legislative branches that are financially independent from the executive. This separation of powers is a fundamental principle of democracy that ensures no branch of government can dominate the others, preserving the integrity of the judicial system and promoting good governance. The current state of the Nigerian judiciary is a stark reminder of the dangers of a compromised judicial branch. It is a call to action for reforms that will guarantee the independence of the judiciary and restore faith in the democratic process. 1 Like |

ANSMEDIA: cjrane: A hallmark of any great, people-oriented government is its willingness to listen to the concerns of its citizens and take action. I am incredibly proud of our Commissioner of Works for inviting BVI Channel 1 to explain the ongoing efforts to maintain roads in Onitsha and other cities. This proactive approach aims to prevent the total collapse of our roads, which would require billions of naira for complete reconstruction. In the past, Anambra had some of the most unreachable governors, who made it nearly impossible to them via email or phone. This led to numerous disastrous outcomes, including the collapse of the state's road infrastructure. Sanitation was nonexistent, and lawlessness prevailed, with some individuals even blocking streets and building houses at the end, preventing connectivity. May God grant Governor Soludo the wisdom to continue correcting the historical wrongs that eroded public faith in Anambra State. While we build new roads annually, it is crucial to prevent the total collapse of our existing roads each rainy season by promptly repairing and patching potholes. By reviving the maintenance culture of the past, we can ensure that our roads remain in good condition without breaking the bank. This approach will preserve our achievements and build a foundation for future progress. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OaSIUJ03Xs 3 Likes 1 Share |

CallmeTrinity: Nigerian politicians are so rich because the crooks have perfected the art of pitching Nigerians against themselves on ethnic and religious differences. So while Nigerians are arguing pointlessly against themselves and their "tribes", the politicians are stealing their future and the future of their great-grandchildren. Unfortunately, they do the same things again and again, while Nigerians fall for the same tricks every time! |

As much as I detest someone like Simon Ekpa, he is not destroying Nigeria. It is the Nigerian government and the criminals ruling the country that have destroyed Nigeria and made the country a laughing stock. See how even South Africa ignored the man who grabbed it? If you don't even obey your own laws, and steal from your impoverished people with impunity, yet you expect others to have any shred of respect for such a place? Unless Nigerian rulers demonstrate that they are decent law-abiding people, nobody will take any request from such men seriously. Unfortunately, that is the situation with Simon Ekpa. No court in Finland will rule that he be removed from Finland to a lawless country where the rule of law is alien to its rulers. Ultimately, since we are such a messed up, lawless country, no lawful nation will trust anything from Nigeria. |

It is evident that Nigeria cannot sustain the current structure of 36 states and a Federal Capital Territory in Abuja. So, where will the funds come from for 38 or 39 states? The call for additional states in the southeast seems to be a deliberate distraction from the more crucial and urgent issue of regional governance to reduce corruption/cost of governance. Some powerful politicians prefer to divert attention with talks of creating unviable states rather than focusing on the regional governance that the APC has promised in its manifesto since 2015. |

kikake: Oga, nobody hates Orlu. You guys should just stop treating other Igbos as though they are ediots and you are the "wise" ones. Better still, just use your Orlu zone to make your state and leave other people out of your suicidal journey! You can twist history as much as you like reminding me that Bayelsa state used to be under the Eastern region with headquarters in Enugu. It changes nothing! Just offer the state capital of Orlu state to Ihiala to demonstrate that your true concern is to create a 6th SE state, and not the childish plot of Orlu politicians to covet other peoples land. Pinicop: Whether they call it "ORLU" or "ETITI", it is the exact LGAs that they are talking about. Yes, we ask for a 6th viable state in the Southeast for equity. Orlu or ETITI are neither viable nor desirable. It is merely a land grab scheme by Orlu politicians to use other people to achieve their dubious intentions. Moreover, Orlu people are carving out land from other people without even consulting them, and without offering them the state capital or the name of the state to placate them. Nnewi or Ihiala should be the capital of Orlu or ETITI State if you want it to succeed. You can't just take their land and offer them nothing in return! We prefer viable states like Anioma, which are made up of homogenous people in a defined area, and with a historic request for statehood. Orlu politicians need to apologize for the scam they intended to carry out against Ihiala and Nnewi people. Shame on you! |

Amah70: Bia, this man, I've heard that Governor Hope Uzodinma and other promoters of "Orlu State" have deceitfully included my hometown and many other Anambra towns and communities into their plan without consulting us. For clarity, I am not against the creation of your Orlu State from the Orlu zone of Imo State. However, they must not include other people who would later be discriminated against for not being from the "Orlu zone" once their dubious state is established. How can you expect to annex us into your dubious state without consulting us and we gain absolutely NOTHING? The capital of the state isn't in Okija, Ihiala, or Ukpor, the name of the state is your hometown (Orlu) and most constituency representation and zones will be owned by Orlu people. So why are you forcefully annexing our lands into your dubious state agenda when we won't even get the state capital territory or anything at all from it? It's outrageous and evil for Hope Uzodinma and his associates to plot the secret annexation of large parts of Anambra State—towns like Ihiala, Uga, Amaeshi, Umuchu, Achina, Oneh, Nkpologwu, Uli, Akpo, Azia, Umunze, Ihembosi, Okija, Lilu, and communities in Nnewi South LGA including Ukpor, Ebenator, Ezinifite, Unubi, and Ekwulumili—into their fiefdom of "Orlu State" without our consent. They should create your Orlu State with your Orlu people! Trying to secretly annex us and other Anambra communities into your fiefdom only to later marginalize us as "non-Orlu zone people" is a plan doomed to fail. We are Anambra people and NOT interested in your "Orlu State". Please promote your Orlu State for your Orlu and Owerri people! Enuf said! 6 Likes 1 Share |

Chikeluba25: This is a wonderful initiative to address the issue of street trading and help petty traders secure a decent venue without the burden of rent, which often forces them to trade on the streets. It would be fantastic if ACTDA could organize all street traders in Awka into a formal group and help them acquire land along key roads to build these Solution Arenas in various parts of the city. In other cities like Onitsha, Nnewi, Ekwulobia, and Aguleri, the state government should allow ACTDA to work with the local governments to organize street traders and build similar Solution Arenas in those cities. If we can eliminate street trading and shanties, our cities will start to look modern and livable, as promised by Soludo. 4 Likes |

It is clear that IPOB did not do it. For one, IPOB has not been a problem in Abia state. The problems had always been in Imo state and Abia had been very normal. The FG killer squads masquerading as "UGM" to blackmail the southeast are the ones targeting Abia state now to scuttle the good works of the governor. This killer squad also has inside information on their carefully selected units and checkpoints to attack. Where they would attack and kill Igbo officers who are the majority in that unit. They will fail as they have always failed! |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyEFIpMZT5I It's exciting that Gov. Peter Mbah is determined to make Enugu the top destination for international conferences. I hope he truly believes in this vision because our leaders sometimes doubt they can compete with venues abroad. His commitment could transform Enugu and show the world what the city has to offer. Gov. Mbah must ensure he leaves no stone unturned in planting flowers and trees throughout the area. The ambiance created by proper landscaping is just as important as the buildings themselves. The ambiance should match that of international conference centers abroad located near 5-star hotels. The atmosphere created by abundant trees and flowers is crucial. Like the Abuja ICC, which isn't a spectacular building but feels world-class due to its beautiful landscaping, Enugu's international conference center can achieve the same standard. By focusing on creating a welcoming environment with lush greenery, Enugu can rival international conference centers and attract global attention. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

abuzz33: You are so right. People often think skyscrapers are what make cities in developed countries different from our cities. I always point out to them that the best cities where the rich live in those developed countries (Especially here in the USA) look like a bigger version of Awka Millennium City! Where deliberate effort is made to care for every inch of the city and plant trees and flowers generously. This means that we can develop world-class cities too with our current level of technology if we enforce strategies that would make our cities habitable and punish lawless behaviors such as mindless littering and street trading. If we learn to stop littering our cities, stop the illegal spread of street markets in every open space, and empower groups like the OCHA Brigade to catch and fine anyone dropping litter or sachet water on the street, we would make our cities much nicer. As you already mentioned, we also need to help private companies set up good transportation systems within and between cities and enforce safety rules, like keeping Keke Napep off the expressway. These small changes will help make our cities more organized and cleaner. This way, even people from other countries might come to live and invest in our cities if we make them nice to live in. 4 Likes |

We can try again, but we already tried it in 1983-1985 and it failed. When Buhari was the military head of state, he banned many imported items he thought were not "essential commodities". Then gave "import licenses" to a few people who just exploited the situation to accumulate money for themselves. This just created big smuggling gangs that still brought those items into the country and they became ten times more expensive, and nearby West African ports got the money from import duties while Nigerian ports got nothing. Unless we fix the electricity problem and help local industries to produce and export, we are just going in circles with the foreign exchange issue. |

Digitron: Enugu has a working international airport that can help make the city famous for conferences, fun, and tourism. If Governor Mba finishes the Enugu International Conference Center and makes the area pretty with palm trees and flowers, he would do a lot to boost tourism in Enugu. The biggest problem with the previous governor was that he focused too much on markets. While markets are good, they are not Enugu's best feature. Enugu's best feature is tourism! If we have governors who focus on developing tourism by building big convention centers, Igbo history museums, fun parks, and organizing major festivals every three months, they can make the most of the international airport. This will bring many people to the city for different activities. Instead of trying to get people to come to Enugu just to shop, which is not the city's strong point, focusing on tourism will be more successful. 10 Likes |

APC propagandists are continually looking for just anything to say about Peter Obi. What they don't understand is that the man's honesty and probity didn't start in 2023 because he wanted to contest the presidential election of 2023. Peter Obi believes totally in DUE PROCESS and the RULE OF LAW. Peter Obi took Anambra state from a lawless fiefdom as aptly described by Chinua Achebe to one of the top 10 states in Nigeria in all human development index. Peter Obi is popularly known in Anambra as "Aka Gum". Ask any Igbo what it means to be called Aka gum. In fact, the reason why I don't want Peter Obi to be Nigeria's president is that Nigeria does NOT deserve a man like Peter Obi. Let Nigerians find other corrupt men like Hopeless Uzodinjo to rule them. They deserve politicians who go into government simply to enrich themselves, pile up debts on the country, and mismanage the economy so badly that every Nigerian will suffer immensely. Nigerians don't deserve Peter Obi. That is why I don't Peter Obi because i know he isn't going there to enrich himself but to help fix Nigeria for the same APC propagandists telling all sorts of lies about him. While those leaders who destroyed Nigeria in the first place will also be the greatest beneficiaries of his reforms and achievements. Since they will use the money they stole from Nigeria to invest in productive ventures to make them even richer than just keeping their loot in foreign banks. |

Chikeluba25: Biko, why are you hyperventilating and arguing with yourself? We are saying the same thing! We need more good trends as someone rightly noted in the previous page. Chikeluba25: Talk about the nature of an Igboman to jump on any bandwagon trend of something good! Since Air Peace started flying to London, the trend of owning airlines to fly into London and perhaps other European cities will be the new trend. I wish someone would set up a gas power plant, multiple modular refineries, or light rail connecting two or three major cities in the southeast so that this critical trend will catch on with our rich men. 11 Likes |

hammer567: @ the bolded above....lol... Oga, You really need to understand that not everyone here is a child. Also, I can already tell you have NEVER bought land anywhere in Nigeria. Otherwise, you would know that land has a maximum of 100 years leases. After which you or your descendants must renew the land lease if the state and the original owners of the land have no objections to renewing another 100 years lease. You can NEVER own any land PERMANENTLY through land purchase unless you owned it by inheritance. In case you have never seen the Nigerian Land-use laws on land ownership, biko read it and equip yourself with what the law says. The very first section of the law addresses the issue of permanent land ownership for any land "BOUGHT" or "ACQUIRED" anywhere in Nigeria. This is the law that gives State Governors the power to issue c-of-o, to demolish your property anywhere within their state or to acquire your land for any project in the state. It is this law that made it impossible for Buhari to acquire your village and other people's villages and give to Fulanis for RUGA because the State Governor must consent before land in their state is used for any purpose at all. : https://sterlinghomesltd.com/land-lease-all-you-need-to-know/#:~:text=Section%201%20of%20the%20Land,%20not%20exceeding%2099%20years. 2 Likes 1 Share |
