Easier said than done. I d calling for investors of as little as 200,000 Naira each x six persons on this forum for over two years. Do you know that only one person turned up and thanks to God I am paying him this month
This must be sc510 from Seedco. The bright orange colour is exactly like my own.
Bring the funds, partner with we rural dwellers. We will farm. As I type I just harvested maize this morning and heading for the farm.

You would ignorantly argue with this report if you have not had milk meant for European and American markets. I stopped buying Nigerian shit called milk after I received some packages of milk from someone in Europe.
This country is ruined on many fronts. Why do you think people are sick everywhere in Nigeria? Most of the consumables here are not fit for human consumption. The coke, Fanta, Pepsi drinks you gulp like water are not of the same quality with the ones your fellow humans consume in advanced countries, not even in South Africa. Nigeria don baje o.
That's when you even get the authentic one and not one packaged in some workshop
|
Ameboperoo2: 1:04pm On Aug 27, 2024 |
Even the original peak, cowbell etc, how are we sure we're taking the authentic and not one packaged in one shop like that. That's why I like buying fresh milk from Fulani cowboys and pasteurize.
This is not limited to milk, all products we consume.

My farm terminates in a river. I noticed a monkey on a high tree on it. It ended up ruining about 300 Maize cobs when I took count. I was mad seeing damaged crops. I later settled with the notion that we invaded their homes and they are part of Nature.
The Money ended up not going too far, it didn't exceed 300 cobs. I took as a sacrifice to nature and better to leave them as part of Nature than kill it.
I think we should settle for some loss to nature in-between o. Na we invaded their homes
Those things are very wicked o. There was a time they almost finished my farm of about 1 acre. I had to put a scarecrow before they stopped.
At another farm, a hunter I set trap and killed 3 of them but I barely got anything from the farm. They finished it before maturity

I find it hilarious that ANY bank in Nigeria would attribute their financial success to "effective management and strategic foresight".
So funny!
Banks in Nigeria are one of the SHITTIEST institutions in Nigeria. Their physical services are rife with INEFFICIENCIES and you'd OFTEN have to the with incompetent or ive aggressive customer reps.
Their ONLINE servic s are even WORSE. A bank's MAJOR app would go offline for several hours and they may NOT even bother to let you know.
A week has not gone by that I've not received some kind of "we are working on it" message from Sterling Bank.
Banks in other countries make a major part of their revenue from making consumer CREDIT available to customers. They make it SUPER easy for people to get credit facilities by making credit cards available to customers.
There are people who have worked in Nigerian banks for DECADES that do not know something like credit cards exist.
Unless you are a BILLIONAIRE, getting access to credit facilities from Nigerian banks would require to twist and turn and jump through INSANE hoops.
And then there are the CHARGES. Oh the charges!
You want to send money? Charges!
You want to receive money? Charges!
You have an ATM/Debit card? Charges!
You did NOT do anything with the accoun? It's just there? Here are some MORE charges!
I once got charged ATM card maintenance fees when I did not even have an ATM card linked to that .
The ONLY reason Nigerian banks keep making INSANE money is bevause of the disorganised and CORRUPT system in Nigeria that lets them scam customers.
Another reason banks make so MUCH money is the fact that we don't have a FUNCTIONAL legal system where people can SUE them for enough money to bankrupt them for their criminal ways.
Well said. Than add the people that died with no one to claim their money. My mum made me the next of kin but I have never even thought of going to her bank since she ed away 5 years ago. I cannot stress myself biko

Also, while I don't prefer snacking on parboiled rice instead of cooked rice, I enjoy it. I can eat a plateful of parboiled rice.

I eat raw rice, wheat, corn, millets, guinea corn, spaghetti or indomie.

There are many causes of the hunger. But for me, the two biggest causes of food insecurity in Nigeria are:
1. The menace of herders scaring away farmers from their farms over the years. In Benue, for example, many farmers have left their farms to the cities.
2. The high cost of transportation due to high cost of fuel.
If these 2 factors are solved, Nigeria will be an exporter of food in no time

Pls God we need rain ...
When maize reaches grain filling stage, any water stress issue reduces yield by affecting:
(1) Cob size
(2) kernel size
(3) Cob length
It can also lead to kernel abortion.

I am more concerned about the people with disability. That place will be as boring as hell. Some of them have one interest or talents that can keep them busy or even generate income. They should engage them in sports, music, arts and craft. Some of them can evenrepresent the country in paralympic but how will you know if you just keep them in one place like that.
The government should train them in vocational studies in whatever they are interested in. It will help them to be active and healthier. Some of them can even employ other persons or be an inventor. But you will never know until you give them the opportunity. I saw a musical band comprising of blind people and they sing and play the instruments excellently.

The problem is that some people buy the babies for ritual.
How can you be sure what hands the baby will get to?

Sorry I didn't respond to you before now. I noticed some occurrences with my SC510 as well. First the cobs were small, also, majority stopped at having just one healthy cob, the ones that bore two cobs were two small cobs. For this reason, I feel this variety was made for speed and not to optimize profits or reward for labour. Also, most native varieties do far far far better than SC510, so I may not be cultivating it going forward.
I saw adverts on a variety, SeedCo 526, you may give it a try. It matures between 75-85 days and has 40% higher yield than SC510 going by the producers manual.
Permission oP to post this information
Thank you for confirming that. I will not plant SC510 again too. I intended planting Sc719 but it was not available then.
It's like I will go back to my premier seeds for now.

My second maize farm has tasseled two weeks ago and was supposed to be due for harvest this week. The cobs for the few available are miserably smaller than even the local varieties I bought from the market.
Drought tolerant. But for how long ? I also planted SC510 that is also drought tolerant but for how long can they stay without water/rain ?
I have said it on before that the SC510 yeild is low compared to others. Even their website stated the yeild to be 5 tonnes per hectare.
I harvested some Sc510 from my farm yesterday. The cobs were small

I have used glyphosate in my grown corn before but I can't trust someone else to do it for me.
If you can carefully avoid spraying on the corn, if a gress is too close, you use your boot to bend it away from the corn or avoid the grass.
As your farm is now, the best is to go manual, then apply npk fertilizer.
