You don't need a Computer science degree or any related degree. What you need is hands-on training in Software development.

You can start with the basics: HTML, CSS and Javascript. A while back, @AZeD1 recommended the following free sites and they've been very helpful..

For Javascript, you might want to take a class on Udemy. I currently use one.

If you already have knowledge of HTML, CSS and perhaps a bit of Javascript, you can try applying to HackerYou coding bootcamp. They train you for free to be a front-end developer but you pay back when you get a job. I hear getting in is competitive though.

UBER
Upon landing at Toronto Pearson Int’l Airport and if you are not being picked up by family, this is the most efficient and cost effective method of getting from the airport to your accommodation. Note however that your Uber must have a Paypal or debit/credit card linked to it as Uber does not accept cash here. Uber can also be a cost effective way of getting around the GTA if you don’t have a bus . If you are not in a rush, you can select the Uber Express Pool option. That means you may share the ride with 2 other people (you are entitled to a maximum of 2 seats).The cost of the ride is cheaper, but Uber determines who gets dropped off first, so that may affect your arrival time a bit. It is not mandatory that someone will be added to the trip. I did a trip from Toronto to Brampton recently for $22 and no one was added… saved $20 as the cost of the usual UberX was $42.

I have never tried Lyft, so can’t share that experience.

I do have a problem with hasty conclusions and in such cases, I always ask for clarity - exactly what I did and what any reasonable person should do.

I'm not arrogant neither am I an oversabi. I'm an open-minded and expressive individual who's not afraid to ask if things seem unclear.

A question to Zutlin, and to the house in general: It seems your separation was the cause of the long delay. But how does being separated maritally affect your ‘eligibility’, which was the purpose of the interview, according to the interviewer?

It wasn't the cause of the delay at all. I was already 8 months post AOR when I changed my status to separated. If anything, I think it was what drew attention to my file.

Express Entry Awareness

I got to know about EE mid 2016 via a Facebook comment. I quickly inboxed the commenter and that was how it all begun.
After several correspondence, she told me they used an agent CANREACH and strongly adviced I used them too. I didn’t know anyone else who had gone through EE neither did I know of platforms such as this. I relied solely on whatever info she gave me and called the agent. To cut a long story short, I had the pay the agent over N500,000. After payment, they sent a mail on things I had to do such as IELTS, ECA, PCCs, Medicals and so on. Prior to payment the agent never mentioned it neither did my Facebook .

I later realized my Facebook was just a dependant spouse who knew next to nothing about what EE actually entails. My contract with the agent was valid for only 2 years and by the time I was finally ready to apply I have become very informed, I didn’t trust the agent anymore (they became lackadaisical plus too many stories of people complaining about agents needing more money and not giving them access to their application) and the 2 years agreement was almost up. To avoid any stories, I decided to handle my application myself. So, that was how I lost over N500,000.

ECA

After I opened an with WES and paid for transcript, my school said they couldn’t find my file at all . That means they have nothing with which to prepare my transcript. This dragged for months. My kept calling me saying she’s trying but my department insists that my file doesn’t exist. My dear mum got tired of it all and decided to travel down to my school herself to enquire how after spending over 5 years doing a 4-year course, going for NYSC and even PGD, her daughter’s entire file suddenly disappeared. Lo and behold, barely 3 days after my mum show face my file was automatically found.
In the end, I got my 2 or more degrees evaluation.

IELTS

I was quite confident in my English ability but still I studied. The resources I used were ieltsliz, ieltsbuddy and futurelearn. I found ieltsliz especially helpful for listening and reading. Futurelearn really helped for writing.

ITA-AOR-Medicals

I declined my first ITA because my port had less than 6 months validity. I made the mistake of going to Ikoyi for renewal and even paid for express, only to be told there was no booklet.
Second ITA came and I was determined not to decline. I submitted my port as it was and then raised a CSE after I eventually got the renewed one. 2 weeks later I ed medicals and In my mind I was thinking I go soon get PPR. Little did I know that AVO had other plans for me and that was how the 9 months long wait started.

After months of uncertainty, ordering 2 GCMS notes, raising 3 CSEs, g several petitions and going through a roller coaster of emotions, AVO finally broke their silence. An interview invite!

Interview

My interview was scheduled to hold 14th February in Accra. I was asked to come with just about everything pertaining to my application. Even the job I got after AOR which I didn’t inform IRCC of, I decided to take my employment letter and payslips along. On the interview day, I intentionally got there few minutes before so I won’t have to wait for long but I didn’t get called in till over an hour later. I submitted my documents at the reception.

The interviewer told me the purpose of the interview was to determine my eligibility. All of my documents were thoroughly checked (I arranged them in an orderly manner using office clips but when I entered the interview room, they were all spread out on a table). It turned out that they needed to be absolutely certain of my marital status and that I understood the implication. I applied as married but life happened and I became separated which I informed IRCC of along with the necessary document. The questions were mostly personal and the interviewer wanted to be sure that POF was still intact.

In the end, I was told that I ed the interview and I would be issued a remedicals request as the one I applied with already expired. My interviewer also said that due to the peculiarity of my case, a meeting with another colleague (abi their boss) was necessary but that I definitely will be getting an ADR before PPR can be issued.

Immediately I stepped out of the premises I switched on my phone and remedicals request was waiting inbox. For those of us at AVO (especially those who got interviewed), remedicals request is to PPR what John the Baptist is to Jesus. Right there and then I knew all is well. After walking aimlessly for some minutes out of excitement, I took a cab to a Chinese restaurant and gave myself a treat. Mama I’ve made it!

Almighty PPR!

The following day while I was preparing to check out of the hotel, my phone beeped and it was the ADR my interviewer talked about. Few minutes later while I was talking excitedly on the phone about the receipt of ADR, dearest PPR gallantly came in.

I was relieved. I was excited. I was weak. I felt like I was floating. I really can’t describe exactly how I felt.

Remedicals

On getting back to Nigeria, I struggled to get remedicals done. Qlife was booked till April and they couldn’t squeeze me in while IOM said the earliest they could do for me was first week of March. I decided to write to Accra asking for an extension but after all the suffer when I don suffer, I really did not want to extend anything. That was how I came across @Hobyno offering his Qlife slot to someone who was also looking for an early date but fortunately the date was too soon for her . I quickly went inbox to beg him for the slot and he graciously agreed.

Once again, THANK YOU @Hobyno.

Two days later, as at 6:04am I was already at Qlife for my medicals. Before 10am I was done and headed straight to VFS for port submission.

My brethren na so o like joke like joke, my dream turned reality before my very eyes.

My journey was a long and bumpy one but las' las', na God win.

1 month. It ought to have been 3 weeks but due to the peculiarity of my application, AVO had to add an extra week.

...and it all came to a beautiful end.

After two years of prepping and an application that lasted 9 months plus interview (AVO I hail), I finally picked up stamped port and COPR today.

Please if anyone knows someone in Mississauga who'll be willing to short let for 2 months or so, please let me know. I'm also open to co-renting.

I intend to land April/May, alone.

Am a single, , 32 years, done ECA (bsc), ed for my ielts but am looking for ways to boost my crs, present crs is 416 that's if i max my IELTS. So my question is if i get a diploma from NOUN, will it count as two or more certificate for ICES,
Does the diploma have to be related to be my bsc for it to count or just any diploma, i was at NOUN yesterday and the lady suggested diploma in peace studies and conflict resolution.
Any suggestion would be appreciated as ission is currently going on.
Secondly if i do get this diploma from NOUN, do i have to repeat my ECA to be able to get points for two or more certificate?
Lastly, from my eatimated present crs score, will pnp be a better chance for me compared to the diploma,.

1. Why diploma? Since you already have BSc, why not go for NOUN Masters instead? It's one year and you get higher points.

2. Yes, you have to redo ECA.

3. Getting another degree is a better chance. PNP is highly competitive and uncertain.

For all we know, it might have been the owner of the Canadian address who charged the 10k. Not everybody is altruistic.
I agree that he is trying to cut costs, so why is he calling out the person who is helping him cut those costs? What did he expect? The person in Canada will just give out his address for free, wait for your mail, receive it and scan it to you - and do that for the next person and the next and the next - out of the goodness of his heart? Even when he doesn't know them from Adam?
So he asks a price that is lower than what it would cost you, you said no deal, then you come and report it the thread, he mails you to express his displeasure and you come and post the screenshot on the thread including his email address.

This is inappropriate. To begin with, you did not state what you discussed that would warrant him requesting 10k for a Canadian address. Even if you feel his request was uncalled for, he never forced you into parting with any money.

Sometime last year, I was looking for how to get my Angolan PCCs done. I met a lady on this thread who mentioned her husband already did his. I got in touch with the husband and he said his was asking for an equivalent of about 120k each - he mentioned paying similar amount for his. I needed to do two. Eventually, I found someway to do it on my own and I spent about 12k each. Infact, the official price was about 7k but I spent more because it was express and I had left the country.

If his request isn't okay by you, find some other way.

I never missed the some infact if you had read my text well you would see I ed that 'some' but for the sake Biochemists here I had to correct that example he gave as he said Biochemist cant go for masters straight up except PGD in information technology and that's not true.

What the person meant was; a Biochemist can't go for MSc in IT without first doing a PGD in IT.

I went the student route last year but was denied for 5 different reason, all of which pointed to the fact that the VO isn't convinced i'll be back after my program. So painful ehn!! even after i payed my fees in full.

I expressed my frustration and broken heart in the student forum then, and someone advised i go for the EE program. I made my own little research, coupled with the full my cousin (PR in canada) is giving me.

All CRS simulation i ran on CIC website keeps me at 410.

Let your work experience be up to 3 years. Alongside, get a PGD or Masters. I hear NOUN is very fast. Stay away from regular Nigerian universities.
