Why don't you retrace your steps and replace the compressor with the right one?

We later discovered it was due to a bad top gasket and it was replaced with a new one and car runs fine now.

1. Since the grinding noise is new to you, what was the original reason for replacing the crankshaft?

2. While he was replacing the crankshaft, did he open the top cylinder. Meaning did he separate the top cylinder from the engine block? If you are not tech savvy, the easiest way to know is to try to whether he mentioned anything that has to do with "gasket".

He said the crankshaft has been cut reduced to the last size so I should get it replaced and I wasn't there when he was replacing the crankshaft.

Mechanic changed my toyota corolla 2005 crankshaft and since then the engine sounds like that of a grinding machine. I asked him why the sudden change in sound and his replay was that the engine needs to run before the sound will stop and this is the 3rd week now, still thesame sound. Any solution?
