IELTS and TOEFL can give 10 points, no sweat broken. For 20 points however, PTE is the way.
Notice that most who don't get 20 points often lose points in 'Speaking' section. The robot has a template to mark to grin; once that template can be followed, the rest na beans.

@Yeeshas, I would say google/youtube the speaking tips for PTE and retake. Once the speaking guide(s) can be followed, easy peasy.

20 points from PTE would give you 65 points, saving you the need to claim employment points and it's attendant paperwork; as well, shortening your time-to-grant since there is no DIBP employment verification to be performed. I mean, everyone wants that grant like yesterday.

@Ozymigrant, congratulations to you!

We (Hubby, I and our Little man - 4 months old) plan to move to Melbourne because hubby is a Network Security Engineer and we think it may be a good place for him. I plan to go back to school for a career in Mental/Forensic Psychology or something closely related.

Please what are your thoughts Sir on these career paths in this location or if you have any recommendations. I really suck at using nairaland. Pardon me.

@Yeeshas, have you considered speaking a little more faster. I ve seen a ot people do it and scored 79+ or 90. It may seem too fast but I ve seen a general consensus about speaking very fast. Maybe you should consider it.

Really? Okay. I will put to mind when next I write it in 2 weeks. Thanks a lot!

I will do just that Sir. Thanks a lot!

I can imagine how sad it is missing out by three points..

Work on the area you were deficient during the test and try again.

Worst case scenario, wait till after for months to claim 5 points from work experience.

Did VETASSES explain why your experience was cut down?

Yes, they did.

"the tasks undertaken are not closely related to the ANZSCO tasks for the nominated occupation
(Employment 1)
the employment was used to calculate the qualifying period required to meet the skill level of the nominated
or closely related ANZSCO occupation (Employment 2)"

Out of 5 years, they said the first 1 and half years isn't closely related. Then a part of the remaining years was used to calculate the qualifying period.

I currently have 45 points so I need 20 points more.

I just got my PTE scores...so pained.

Listening - 82
Reading - 81
Writing - 85
Speaking - 76

Just maybe if I had prepared more. I need 20 points. Really really pained.

Congrats bro, if you will be needing the work experience points, you can wait till june to submit your EOI, otherwise, aim high in PTE and save yourself stress. Cheers

Thanks a lot! I'm a woman oo. Lol. I will aim for a 20 point in my PTE next week as I have only 45 points with my age and qualification.

Thank you.

@Yeeshas
What employment documents did you submit for your assessment with Vetasses?

Pay slips, promotion letter, offer letters, statement of reference, organogram of organization (this is because my occupation is a managerial occupation), CV, probation successful letter/confirmation letter.

Great... Always good to read something positive from VETASSES...

Get the English dusted and complete the process.. Welfare centre manager is not competitive, you will get ITA fast.

What did you study?

I'm sorry I don't really know how to use this platform well so I may be quoting the entire thing. Thank you Sir. I studied Psychology from the University of Ibadan. Ant my outcome says the qualification is 'highly relevant' to the occupation. I claimed 5 years of work experience and it was deducted to 2.8. My Bachelors was also assessed as Bachelors(honors) as AQF Bachelors according to the Australian bachelors degree.
Yeeshas: 9:08pm On Feb 21, 2017
I forgot to add, I assessed as a Welfare Centre Manager and I got my assessment outcome in 6 weeks although I was expecting it in 12 weeks.

Okay. Enough of the long story. I wanted to wait till I got my grant before writing this post but I thought just like Mr Bellong dished out information withoutholding back (which largely influenced my positive assessment) I would not want to wait as I know there are people who have questions regarding VETASSES assessment.sorry for the long post. Just saying a big thank you. I am most grateful.
PS: I'm writing my PTE test next week. Thanks again.
