@mamacajah, if I'm not mistaken it is work experience from the 10yrs preceeding your pr app (or express entry profile creation) that is relevant. I may be wrong about this. However, what is important is that you are able to prove work experience that is equivalent to full time (30hrs/week or more), paid, continuous for a minimum of 1 year in an occupation that falls within NOCs in skill set O, A or B. To get maximum points for work experience under adaptability, you should have a minimum of 3yrs of work experience. So, you do not actually need all 17yrs of work experience that you have. You decide which of your employers over the past 10yrs (2007-2017 or so) would most adequately fit into your ee profile. Others can be filled under the personal history section when required. I hope this makes some sense and clears things up for you a bit. 1 Like |

mamacajah:I don't think that's the problem. I may be wrong but to the best of my knowledge as long as you have up to 1 continuous full year in one NOC then you should be okay. Try to check all the questions again. |

I feel like a broken record adding this but it only does any intended Canadian immigrant a world of good to read. I mean, how does one plan to pack up their life and move halfway across the world without getting all the relevant info required? At the end of the day, applications go to ircc and not anyone else so they should always be the reference point. In addition, the quality of information we share here would be greatly improved if more people added knowledge instead of finding loopholes to be "smart" or "prove a point" Just my 2 kobo but what do I know? 17 Likes |

I doubt that there is any real confusion as ircc clearly states what they require. I mean, there is no mention of a "futuristic eca reference no" Anyway, the more people who explore this loophole of futuristic ECAs, the faster they would be to add an extra footnote to the guidelines for ECA report validity.

@mummyjaygirls welcome. I couldn't help but laugh your post was interesting. Your kids would absolutely love this weather lol! No documentation needed to start driving. You can use your naija license for the next 90 days to drive or a vehicle if you buy one. The insurance will only be slightly higher ing with a naija license. @canadianfly it's my first Canadian winter oh. It's so unlike winter anywhere else. ![]() @yetty we have waitlists for daycare here but for subsidy there are no waitlists. @ having daycare free in Toronto ![]() @ qualifying and applying for child care subsidy. If you AND your spouse are both schooling or both working or one partner is working and the other schooling, you qualify for child care subsidy in Alberta. Also if you are a stay at home parent you qualify for child care subsidy but only $100/mth. You apply by ing the government office in charge of subsidy. 8 Likes 6 Shares |

yettyopy:does the child care subsidy pay all of your child care fees where you live? It doesn't on my end. It pays a portion and what you get approved for is dependent on your income. There is also no waiting list here. |

@sleekchic, I live in Calgary and thus far haven't experienced any racism. Having had experiences in the states and UK, in comparison, Canada isn't racist by nature. There may be a few bad eggs here and there but I haven't met any yet. Caucasians and non Caucasians sit by me on the bus or train all the time. Cost of living. Rent 1200. salford1:wow! @spinning 3 times. Crazy stuff. 2 days ago there were so many collissions. In the morning when I went to drop off my toddler at daycare there was nowhere to park.....the curb was 40cm high and cars just kept on driving until I eventually parked in the elementary school down the street and then had to do a 10 min walk backwards that felt more like 10hrs ![]() ![]() 1 Like |

@salford1, i was a lil surprised to see that it didn't snow in Regina as we are buried in the white stuff on this end. @datechman, i ire your spirit. It is actually worth considering the weather while deciding to take on jobs. This winter is not for the faint hearted. I had to go for a meeting today at a place that's usually a 35-40 min drive from where I live but with the snow accumulation, I chose not to drive and took the transit. It took me an hour and a half. Let's just say winter is very different when you have to stand waiting for a bus or the c train. I can't even imagine how it would be if one has to work a job that involves being outside in the cold. |

@einsteino I appreciate and understand your point of view. I never said don't give thanks to your God. What I said was that religious tolerance takes into consideration the beliefs as well as the desires of whomever you are conversing with. To put it simply. How comfortable would followers of this thread be if people who practice african traditional religion, start their posts with a paragraph of incantation to Sango or Oronmila each time they want to make a comment or share their experience? To each his own. Let me not derail the thread any longer. Winter pics from Calgary today. 28 Likes 2 Shares |

bbaby84:That escalated quickly. This religion thing must really be a soft spot for you. Pray tell, is this the attitude your god approves of? I mean, after all what then was the point of your post? I'm pretty sure I have zero artistic attributes so drama is more your thing and not mine. It'll be nice of you to point out "my rude person" statements though but I'm sure the ants in your pants won't permit that. ![]() 7 Likes |

gracelevel:In my opinion and experience, I find that lots of people don't even know about services or programs available. They tend to rely a lot on what someone else has said or heard or experienced. If you are inquisitive, good at online research, asking people questions and don't mind making random phone calls here and there you'll be able to get info on what may be accessible in your city or province. 2 Likes |

bbaby84:Aggressive much? Lol! We can all learn to be civil in our interactions. If you say A and someone else has a divergent view point, it doesn't change your opinion. It doesn't even have to be an argument. You don't even have to be rude about it. Heck, you don't even have to bother to understand. Free world. Swallow a chill pill. 18 Likes |

czaratwork:i was responding to the comment that said sumn about "i thought being in Canada will make you more tolerant etc etc etc" in my opinion, that perception is quite incorrect. Religious tolerance is a spectrum and is never one sided. What you see as tolerant to another is not. Same way people should "feel free" to express themselves and their gratitude to their God is the same way another should "feel free" to express their aversion to such an expression. So it goes both ways babe. I am a Christian but I find it mind boggling when my fellow Nigerian Christians always shove it up the next person's nose. No offense intended to anyone and @freeradical this isn't really about your post as it was quite informative, but most of the time, we tend to bury useful info and experiences under "all thanks to the mighty God etc etc" Any health professional on here would easily tell you how many "testimonies of after the doctor said xyz, praise God yadi yadi yadah I am healed" Nigerian patients give but they eliminate ALL that they did medically and thus give a false impression that others with similar conditions buy into and end up worse off for it. Your "canadian story" is gonna turn out intriguing in the end. I know it's not all rosy right now but you have a positive spirit and you are willing and able to work. Those attributes are sooooo key to success. Remain hopeful! 24 Likes 1 Share |

bbaby84:You may find it interesting that repeated reference being made to a God who may or may not be another listener/reader's God within a discussion that isn't religious in it's subject matter and in which the listener/reader has not expressed a desire to discuss religion, actually comes across as being religiously intolerant. 9 Likes |
