The Ugbo invasion was not during Oduduwa time. After Oduduwa defeated Obatala, there was a reconciliation which led to Obatala leaving Iranje Oko to Iranje Ile. After the death of Oduduwa, Obatala emerged as the Olufe again with the of Obamakin. They later agreed to be rotating the headship of Ife among themselves. After the death of Obatala, Obamakin (Obalufon, Ogbogbodirin) became king. He lasted for a long time. After his death, his son Obalufon 11, Alayemore became the king. Orunmakin was the first born and heir apparent but the Ife people picked his younger brother instead. At this level, the Ugbo people started attacking Ife. When Oranmiyan came back from Benin he dethroned Alayemore and took over the throne. Alayemore founded another kingdom but when Oranmiyan died, the Ife people invited Alayemore to continue. Orunmakin led the attack against Ile Ife before he finally left Ile Ife until he got to his present location in Ugbo, Ilaje LGA in Ondo state.

It is not true hat the whites handed over Nigeria to Fulani but Azikiwe did. His party won followed by AG while NPC came third. AG approached him for alliance but he went into alliance with Fulani party with the erroneous belief he could dominate them. He used that to his advantage but not to the advantage of the south.
As a result of Fulani jihad they have conquered the Hausa. All the key positions were occupied by Fulani including market leaders.
They discouraged Hausa from going to school while they are highly educated. Maitama Sule, an Hausa man was among the founders of NPN. He won the primary but he was told he could not represent the North. They went and bought Shagari. When Obasanjo gave appointments to Hausa, Sultan of Sokoto and some Fulani elders challenged him, that he was marginalizing the North. He answered them that what of all the appointments he gave to the North and he was told any appointments he didn't give to Fulani, he is not giving it to the North but they are the real Northerners. Hausa are unduly subjugated.

YORUBA IS NEITHER AN ARABIC NOR HAUSA NAME

The word Yoruba existed before Oyo Empire: It neither Hausa nor Fulani word

“Yoruba,” used to describe a group of people speaking a common language, was already in use in the interior of the Bight of Benin, probably before the sixteenth century. Yarabawa is the plural form for reference to Yoruba, and the singular is Bayarabe. In 1613, Ahmed Baba employed the term or a similar term to Yoruba to describe an ethnic group that had long existed (Lovejoy Reference Lovejoy, Falola and Childs2004:41). At the time, the term was not used for any particular subgroup of Yoruba such as Oyo; the Oyo polity was still relatively unknown. Some scholars used “Yoruba” for the Oyo group (Clapperton Reference Clapperton1829:4; Law Reference Law1977), but the term “Yarabawa” or “Yoruba” was found among Muslims (i.e., Hausa, Songhai), and also in Arabic very early and long before the rise of Oyo, more as a reference to a whole group than to a specific polity (Lovejoy Reference Lovejoy, Falola and Childs2004:41).

Some other names or nomenclatures used before the general term, “Yoruba,” include Nago as in Brazil, and Lucumi in Cuba and other Spanish colonies in the Americas, as well as in French colonies. In Sierra Leone, they were referred to as “Aku.” “Terranova,” a Portuguese term which referred to slaves taken west of Benin’s territory, was also an early term for Yoruba that fell out of use in Spanish America in the seventeenth century (Lovejoy and Ojo Reference Lovejoy and Ojo2015:358–359).
As far as I am concerned, there should be no confusion about the origin of the word Yoruba. It is neither Arabic nor Hausa name. It is our own creation. Having read so many s, it became clear how the name evolved. Professor Akintoye and his numerous interviews actually shed more light on it. I ruminated over the issue and slept off. When I woke up, I asked myself the meaning of the word aruba because I know the meaning but to be sure, I asked my people and I was told, it means friend, customer, paddy, bossom friend. I began to add up, Aruba+wa = Arubawa, our friend, our partner, our customer (as in Onibarawa, our customer ). We might have started calling the Arabs, Alarubawa or Larubawa or Arubawa in the course of interaction with them. They in turn called us what we called them Arubawa. This was translated to Yarubawa, the way it was easy for them to call. The difference between Larubawa and Yarubawa is Y and L. It is the same way we are called Aku from E ku owuro, Olukun, Okun, Anago, Karo o jire. The language of the ancient ife people is called Ikedu. It is deeper than the current Yoruba we are speaking which has undergone refinement. This deep Yoruba we are referring to as Anago because it is difficult to understand. I heard it took Oduduwa 16 years to learn the language. Ikedu is the language they use in Ifa. We called Arabs Larubawa and they called us Yarubawa in return. Just like Hausa will call FELA (PELA) and Ibo will call Toro (Tolo) etc. We can research more into this. Trust Yoruba, they will not take nonsense, they are very intelligent. Yoruba are not stupid, if they didn't understand the meaning of Yoruba ab initio, they wouldn't answer to it. Yarubawa has no meaning in Arabic, it is Ikedu language which was derived from Arubawa. The name had been in existence as early as 4th century during Trans Saharan Trade when we had been interacting with the Arabs. In 1591, Ahmed Baba, a Timbuktu Theologian, mentioned Yoruba in his writing. Fulani had not arrived Nigeria and no with the Hausa then. When Oyo became a powerful empire, they saw all of us as being under Alafin. They began to call us Oyo and Yoruba interchangeably . Along the line, the Oyo monopolised the name and others started differentiating themselves to have their own identities.

Igalaland was essentially the dispersal point of human migration out of the Southern Rainforests called Igbo Irunmole, forests of the spirits”. Benin Prehistory
Tradition says Benin lived north of the Niger and lived under a king Lamurudu (Roth 1968.6)
According to the Benin Chronicler Egharevba, Many many years ago, the Binis came all the way from Egypt after a short stay in Sudan and Ile ife..
Before coming here a band of hunters was sent from Ife to inspect this land, they test some people who were there before them and these people were from Nupe and Sudan in waves (Egharevba 1960)
The first set of migration was from Sudan and Nupe in 7th century. Second wave from Egypt via Sahara and Ife in the beginning of 8th century (Egharevba 1965).
He later recognized three waves 1. Nupe 2. Sudan via Nupe 3. Egypt via Sahara to Ife.
They were running from Islamic Jihad of 600 AD.
Eweka recognized the Egyptian version. He equally said they are genetically connected to the population of Nok..

Official age to finish secondary school is 16-18 years but 15 years old is possible. Government should have may programs in between. If you are 15years you can be allowed to do Pre Degree, Diploma, ND. If 15years old can Jamb he/she be allowed to go. There is a difference between mental age and chronological age.

Wao at last I am back. Can the 15 years old boy be allowed to do Diploma or Pre Degree? We should have many intermediary programs that a child may go instead of staying at home. Some people score less in JAMB the following year.

There is nothing wrong with the sentence, it is a parable or a metaphor. He called PDP a dead party and added that a dead fish can't be sweet in any soup. Dead fish means, it is no longer fresh. When you see a dead fish along the coast or on top of a river, it means when it died, it sank for some days before floating on the surface, it will definitely lose its taste.

"Most fish are slightly denser than water, so sink immediately after death. However, like a drowned human, they become more buoyant over time as bacterial decomposition produces gases inside the body. Usually, enough gas builds up in body cavities to make the corpse float, like an inflated balloon."

ILE-IFE IS THE OLDEST KINGDOM IN NIGERIA, NOT BINI

Ile-Ife Kingdom is the Oldest Kingdom in Nigeria and 2nd oldest Kingdom after Sahelian kingdom of Ghana in West Africa which was recorded from 11th century.
Some historical evidence prove that Ile-Ife was 4th Century while others said Ile-Ife has been in existence in the history of mankind, and the proof shouldn't be known to anyone or recorded.

Greek Historian, Herodotus, the father of History who lived from 4824 BC until 424 BC said about Ife: " According to history there were five ancient cities in Africa between 3000 and 1000 BC of which one was Ife".

According to BBC UK, The kingdom of Ife developed in the rainforest in the 600s. Its art and religion influenced the culture of Benin, which began in the 900s and reached the height of its power between the 1400s and the 1600s.

Between 700 and 1600, there were three great empires in the centre of West Africa: Ancient Ghana, Mali and Songhai. They all grew immensely rich by trading in gold. One of the last great kingdoms was Asante. It was founded around 1700. The Asante people were famous for their work in gold.

The Bini Kingdom that was later destroyed by the British was formed in 1170CE. Bini Kingdom was a neighbouring Kingdom to Ile-Ife Kingdom, and this is why in the history of bini today, the Ruler that established Obaship in bini was from Ile-Ife (Olumense 1719) etc.

The largest ethnic in West Africa sources from Ile-Ife ranging from Nigeria, Benin Republic, Ghana, Gambia etc. The root of some of these ancient tribes in West African countries were traced to Ile-Ife.

Father of history Herodotus, put in his record that the Europeans only attacked Bini kingdom due to disagreement, it is not that there are no other neighbouring kingdoms. If there were no neighbouring kingdom, then the prince of Ile-Ife wont be invited by bini people to rule over their land.

Ile-Ife remains where it is today in a place now called Western Nigeria, but we can see majority of tribes even outside Nigeria tracing their roots to ile-ife. History reveals that Ile-Ife has been existing before historian started putting it in record. Ile-Ife wasn't created by any ruler or king. It was a forest before it was established by the inhabitant and records were taken.

The Igbos referred to in the story have no relationship with IBO of the East. Igbo started using the term during the Civil war. Most words in Yoruba did not start with letter I but u e.g Ile was ule, Ife was ufe Igbo was ugbo ,Ilesha was Ulesha etc. So the Igbo in question is Ugbo. The name of the king is Olugbo. The Olugbo was the husband of Moremi. They are currently in Ondo state, Ilaje LGA, Igbokoda. Their biological father is Oramfe. They are related to Obatala. The Ilajes are descendants of Osangangan Obamakin, son of Oramfe while some are descendants of Obatala, Orunmila, Ompetu of Iddo ,Ile ife etc. The Ilaje speak the same language, they are the Aborigines of Ile Ife. Oduduwa met them in Ile Ife.. Having said this, when Ugbo emigrated Ile Ife, not all of them got to their present location of Ode Ugbo. Some moved to different directions and founded their kingdoms. It is possible the Olukunmi of Delta state is one of them.

Obatala Oserimagbo, eniti abi ni Ugbo to lo joba lode Iranje, Obatala, obatase, oba takun lode Iranje. Before Oduduwa, the people in Ile Ife were called Ugbo/Igbo. They have no connection with the Igbo of the east. Those that left Ile Ife are now in Ondo state, Ilaje precisely, the king bears the title Olugbo since 10th century. Igbo of eastern Nigeria were not bearing Igbo until colonial time or during the civil war. The language spoken then is Ikedu which has 90% similarity with Ilaje language. Most of the ifa corpus are preserved in Ikedu which we understand today, even Yoruba/Lucumi in Brazil, Cuba etc use this language when they worship their gods. When they chant the panegyrics of these gods a typical Yoruba person will here. Ikedu is the language of Ifa like the one above.

Some Aspects of ‘Yoruba Urbanism
WILLIAM BASCOM
University of Calijornia, Berkeley
THE YORUBA of Nigeria are the most urban of all African peoples of comparable size. The fact that they have large, denseee cities which existed
prior to European penetration has been demonstrated in earlier papers (see
under Bascom). Briefly, 53.5 percent of the 5,046,799 Yoruba recorded in
Nigeria’s 1952 census lived in communities of 5,000 and over; 44.8 percent in
those of 10,000 and over; 36.6 percent in 25 cities of 25,000 and over; and 22.1
percent lived in six cities of 100,000 and over. Their index of urbanization (defined by Davis and Casis [1946] as the average of these four percentages) was
39.3 in 1952, which ranked between that of the United States and that of
Canada. If only the Yoruba of the Western Region and the Colony were considered, excluding 9 percent in Ilorin and Kabba Divisions of the Northern
Region of Nigeria, their index of urbanization was 42.4, exceeding that of the
United States.
Population densities of 87,000 per square mile for Lagos in 1950,55,555 for
Ibadan in 1960; and 43,372 for Ogbomosho, 13,914 for Oyo, and 5,720 for
Abeokutain 1931, compare with 24,697 for New York City, 15,850 for Chicago,
15,743 for Philadelphia, and 5,451 for Los Angeles-the four largest urban centers in the United States-in 1960.
The permanence of the 12 largest Yoruba cities, all over 40,000 in 1952 (see
Table 2), has been documented over the past century, although most of them
were unknown until after 1825 when Yoruba territory was first penetrated.
Nevertheless, Old Oyo has been known since 1725 because of its interference in
the affairs of Dahomey, or possibly even a century earlier as the “Lucumies”
(Alonso de Sandoval 1627). Ijebu Ode, whose population was 27,558 in 1952, is
mentioned repeatedly in the historical documents from 1500 onwards, and it is
probable that the first Portuguese explorers to visit Benin City in’1485 brought
back word of the King of Ife.

FAAN AND EXTORTION OF INNOCENT PEOPLE

It has been observed that FAAN personnel are in extorting money from people instead of directing or correcting them. I was at the Airport this morning; it was boldly written DROP OFF ONLY. It is conspicuous for anybody to see, with uniform men telling you what to do. When you move down the bridge, a lot of vehicles were parked at the right hand side, unknown to many, they parked their vehicles there: no instructions, no direction, no correction, suddenly FAAN personnel or task force will come, impound your car and drive off.

When you get to where your vehicle is towed, you might have trekked more than a kilometre. You will be asked to pay N5, 500 for a car and N10, 500 for SUV and Family cars. No matter the merit of the case, the guys at the toying office will not listen. Most of the vehicles they towed, the owners came from outside Lagos. If you don’t have money to pay that day you will pay for demurrage and your tyres will be deflated. You will inflate a tyre for N500 instead of N100 outside, for a car.

The so called Car park is not known to many people who are new to the Airport. It looks like an office complex; no direction, no labelling, no instruction. Car park should be boldly written on the building and there should be a signboard indicating Car park. Right in my presence they towed over ten vehicles. They even set up a company to be collecting the proceeds of this illicit affairs. Innocent people are being extorted daily. People are bitter, depressed and hopeless about the system.

The effort used by FAAN to tow vehicle of unsuspecting people, they should use the efforts to correct people. The same way, the Police will not allow you to park your vehicle in front of the Airport building unless you want to drop off engers, FAAN should use the same method to prevent people from parking.

There should be instruction: DON’T PARK HERE. THIS WAY TO CAR PARK

FAAN should not be interested in extorting people. Setting up a company (Bilafary Enterprises Nigeria Limited) to collect the extorted money is an indication of their venal intention.

In developed countries, they will not tow your vehicles like that. You would not be allowed to park there; you will be directed. Our laws should not be only punitive they should be corrective too.

My grandfather decided to accompany his new friend back to his home- town of Adamawa. No man will like the wife to cheat. The man may not trust her, that does not mean he permits the wife to cheat. In Yoruba land, you cannot divorce your wife based on hear say or suspicion but if she is caught, the consequence is great. I think that is what Funmi was trying to explain.

During the colonial time Amapetu of Mahinland in Ondo state was ranked ahead of Oba of Benin. He earned more salary than Oba of Benin. The salary of Oba of Benin was equivalent to Asogbon of Mahin kingdom. See Ilaje Intellingence report by Curwen 1937. The first Oba of Benin was raised in the palace of Olugbo of Ugbo in Ondo state. Olugbo predated Oduduwa in Ile Ife. Alafin of Oyo Kingdom was the number one Oba in Yorubaland and the permanent Chairman of council of Obas and Amapetu was the Secretary. Amapetu moved the motion for the rotation of the the Chairmanship. Awujale of Ijebuland was ahead of Alake of Egbaland. It was during the Egbe Omo Oduduwa that Awolowo accorded Ooni of Ife the number on rank in Yorubaland.

This is not the avenue to insult an Oba from people who are congenially disrespectful, iconoclastic and acephalous. Traditionally, a king should not hug or shake hands. Ooni should have sat down gently.
