His post made me kind of bothered. I was like can TRUMP be so nice to change policy and help non immigrants get a green card in 2 yrs. Thanks for correcting his "MISINFORMATION".

I was going to ignore this but decided to give you the benefit of doubt, help you and others like you before it's too late. Didn't you just get your visa? You've not even spent anytime here, you're already ing gang that won't help you and suggesting people are misinformed. I'm sorry for you.

When I came here, I visited a family. I heard stories of how people got their citizenship within 5 years of coming here. Those stories were stories that sounded too good to be true. Instead of doing oversabi and trying to prove them wrong, I simply told them how shocked I was, made myself humble and asked them to tell me their experience so I can learn. Best advice I ever got... and they're white people, people who had nothing in it for them.

Barring any unfortunate events, I'm projected to get my U.S. citizenship in 2021. That's 5 years for me too. I know people who predicted harsh events for me because I didn't come here on funding to study a STEM course. Without sounding condescending, I can tell you my gamble paid off.

The program I came here to study in my school was ranked number 6 in the whole world. Generally, the school is not even in the top 100 schools in the U.S. but the department was so highly ranked that it was almost impossible to graduate and not get a job. Super-strong alumni too. When they were hammering me for not going to top school/getting funding, I stayed on track and focused on my life.

Telling me "You can't do X" is the only motivation I need sometimes to go the extra mile. You and that guy just gave me the motivational "it's impossible" speech lol. When I start studying to my test for Naturalization, all I need to do is the people who say it's impossible lol.

Please be humble. When someone tells you "I did x and got y", simply ask them to show you how without being disrespectful. I surround myself with positive people, and I am very grateful that God sent them my way. May God be with you o, doubting Thomas.

Sureb0y!! Congrats bro!
Please can you advise those already in the US as regards GC and how best to go about it?

Thanks

Thanks. My advice is for them to stay the hell away from stupid people lol. Once you see someone who doesn't want your progress, plan your life on code and keep telling them you're failing. It's gonna make them happy when they think you're failing. If you hear you can't survive on $1k a month, simply say "Yes o, that's true". Agree with them, spend your $700 quietly and save your $300. No need to argue with negative idiots.

Secondly, read the rules and stay legal. Look at success stories and emulate positive vibes. Block away negative nonsense and never ever let anybody tell you what you can't do. Lol

Lmao! I won't mention any names with this reply. Some people taking panadol for another person's headache. Sit down there and be analyzing what's possible or not possible. Some Nigerians will wish for something bad to happen to others so they can say "I told you it's not possible, you didn't listen".

See that one analyzing Green card like he was there when the lawmakers made the laws. It's always better to shut up and let people think you're ignorant than to speak and remove all doubt. I know your type, I won't give you the unnecessary audience.

I don't let keyboard warriors tell me what I can't do. Why do some Nigerians foam in their mouth when they hear of another Nigerian's success?

Keep telling me what I can't do lol. If you don't know how many odds I've defied in my life, don't speak.

I'm a permanent legal resident who's going to complete his naturalization (i.e. become a U.S Citizen) before the next world cup. Visit a therapist if success stories or other people's happiness ruin your mood.

Told myself I wouldn't post anything on NL until something big changes for me.

July 2016: F1 visa approved.
July 2018: GC approved.
July 2018: Job offer accepted.

I'm now a legal permanent resident of this place... and I'm starting my job at progressive insurance on Monday 8/6 in the claims department. Not the best job in the world but I'd take $50k p.a. right now considering all I've been through lol. My second part-time job will earn me between $4h and $1k a month too so... not a bad start.

Now I can come back to NL and give advice like the old days to anyone who wants it. I don't the name of that guy who used to tackle me all the time with "body go tell you" posts. Baba, if you can read this, whether it's luck or not, I didn't encounter any of those scary things you predicted o.

Prospective NLers chasing the American dream, ask me whatever you need to know. Against all odds, I came here to study stupid course in a stupid school without any funding. 2 years later, it's all history. It took a bit of luck but who cares? I'm in a better place and that's what matters.

Don't let any keyboard warrior discourage you from chasing your dreams... keep sleeping! Lol.
