@OP, Some people's fixation with Tinubu has gone from absurdity to very pathetic and unimaginable levels. If their landlord rapes their sister, it is Tinubu or their stray bingo did not come home, its because Tinubu disagreed with Fashola. The hungry media of course feasts on such inanities. We have issues of governance, inadequate infrastructure, low, recycled and diminishing human capital, almost non existent industrial base, import dependence among so many other problems but our media industry is just too lazy, too inept to look into these. Always it is Obj and his children, girlfriends, Tinubu/Fashola, Anenih or that rubbish. A journalistic culture that dwells too much on personalities, incongruent with developmental indices. And we are currently being teleguided into the same cesspit of reverse thinking. Shame. |

ekt_bear: I do not agree with you on this. Are you saying a right thinking political leadership should not take time to asssess what he is meeting on ground, to know the extent of the rot or progress? You will recall that in the first 6 months of Tinubu in Lagos, residents complained about his being too slow bla bla and compared him to Marwa, thge erstwhile milad. When he went for second term, he was voted in overwhelmingly and was even given the opportunity to appoint his successor. My point is, is it not better to allow the people to know the extent to which the collective patrimony has been mortgaged, things that were formerly coveredwith the state's secret act? Imagine somebody concessioning Olumo Rock and virtually everything he met on ground and yet OGD still acknowledged owing N50b, wanted another N100b and the state has nothing to show for it. Why invest in 70's technology all in the name of providing electricity when the comapanies that manufactured some components of your equipment may be moribund? OGD's company Kresta Laurel got most of these contracts and its time to unveil those responsible for the impoverishment of the state. |

Shokwen: But did you ponder whether its right for the 95-year old woman to meddle in partisan politics and call a 50-something year old man a bastard? Consider this again, 'agbalagba to so suku m'odi, o so ara e di alawada adie.' |

This creepy feeling keeps haunting me anytime I think of late Chief Awolowo and his physical legacies, particlularly his Newspaper, the Nigerian Tribune. The Tribune has become a purveyor of filth, concocted stories and the mega-phone of certain political interests. This was more than confirmed today with the letter from the solicitors of the Oyo State governor to the management of Access Bank on the alleged scandal in which the gov, Senator Abiola Ajimobi was mentioned as the beneficiary of the fraud. Ajimobi's solicitors 'Our client is therefore shocked and surprised to read from the newspaper that he was involved in a fixed deposit scandal with your bank and that the referenced suit is still on-going.' Access Bank's response 'There was never a fixed deposit scandal or any scandal in the relationship btw our bank and His Excellency, Senator Abiola Ajimobi in the manner portrayed by the publication'. Punch Advertorial, Pg 36. Will the resort to reporting unverified, concocted news not harm the owners' long term interests? |

@Sun of God, How much were you paid? You're cheating Obi and need to refund a large part of your consultancy. As a PR person, I'm able to decipher certainly that you are one of those ignorant mofos that Obi relies on to polish his image. Secondly, your knowledge of the state is so inadequate that you making a mess of Obi himself. Get another job, maybe in waste clearing and you kight possible do better in that. Sun of god: An epitome of ignorance. Cutey, you need an advanced diploma and possibly a degree in reasoning |

I also readily recall the sage's all time quote and a response to the issues of money and politics 'Socialism does not mean poverty'. And he lived it.

Obviously, the anti-Tinubu people are be-clouded more by envy than by any meaningful reasoning. They rake mud just bacuse they think its hip. To all those who think Tinubu steals Lagos State money; even if we have to reason along this line, the man has the option of sitting on his spoils and investing more stable economies. For choosing to to invest in emancipation of my people, for choosing to invest in ousting the evil cloud that is the PDP, for choosing to assist give us hope, I'll prefer this thief ![]() To those who think Tinubu is a bastard; we are essentially, familiar with Yoruba cultural values- there is no bastard in Yoruba land. Bi o je omo ale ni ile iya, ko le je omo ale nile baba meaning, no 2 couple disown the offspring of their loin, one of them will claim him. For those who think he disrespected the Awo clan; while the Yorubas rever the name Awo, we were not too comfortable with their negative behaviour in the public place, after the death of the sage. On June 12 crisis, the Awolowo family benefitted more than even the Abiola family. To appreciate the history of the June 12 crisis and how people sacrificed, please read this contribution to Sahara reporters. The names and events are mostly verifiable http://www.saharareporters.com/article/june-12-bitter-memoir-journalist |

@porka, serious or trying to concoct your own version of events that we are all living witnesses to? OMG ![]() While Afenifere were busy basking in old glory, people like Tinubu were building new political structures, networking across ethnic divides, fine-tuning political strategies in line with today's realities. The geriatrics, name peddling, agbada flaunting old politicians were busy collecting money from local government chairmen and making Afenifere noises. At least I met Chief Adebanjo on one occassion. How come they were deceived by a retired soldier into throwing away their Awo integrity? Why did Bola Ige accept to serve under Obj? What is the Olu Falae connection? What of Dupe Adelaja(nee Adesanya), Segun Awolowo)? The rennaissance we are witnessing owes so much to the vision of a master political of the new mode. He re-activated progressive politics, gave the Yorubas a hope. It is the courage of fighting the many battles of walking the talk that is today being celebrated. Afterall, how many governors that got sworn-in same time with Tinubu has more political relevance or has achieved that much in this country? NONE |

Do people understand what they read at all? Are contributors on this forum actually aware of political events around them? Perhaps for a few lines that are out of order by Omatseye, I can't fathom what the hue about Tinubu is all about. 'Mama' is the founder and convener of Yoruba Forum, a political group supposedly made of all elected politicians and active between 2007 - date. I'm sure the likes of OGD and other SW PDP govs, looking to gain political leverage provided funding for that rubbish. 'Mama' is active, aware and conscious of her survival, hence her association with the PDP and their negative policies. 'Mama' wined and dined with the oppressors of her people. It is the resurgence of progressive politics, championed by Tinubu that 'Mama' saw as a challenge to the family survival, hence the onslaught against those who wanted a govt that will serve the majority. For those who doubt the survival theory, maybe they can point at one company headed by an Awolowo that is today a thriving business. Even Tribune was kinda revived a few years ago and can not boast of a quarter of Punch's print run. |

The funny thing is not a single member of the Awolowo dynasty contributed as much as a write -up on the June 12 crisis. Rather, they hobnobbed with all sorts of xters, trading away the name of their great progenitor. Beyond Nadeco, thousand of journalists and other Nigerians were severally pummelled by Abacha. The Awolowo descendants could not even lend their voice to reason. Was it not Afenifere that traded the people's vote for their pot of soup when Obasanjo invited them to Aso rock? Now 'Mama' has initiated another of their ego-driven groups, obviously funded by the PDP, the Yoruba Forum. I can't imagine an Aregbesola sitting down with an Oyinlola at a meeting being presided over by a dynosaur, being goaded on by killers and scavengers of our patrimony and some turncoat democrats like Babatope. If 'Mama' wants to PDP, its her choice and her prerogative and she should not drag the Awolowo name in the mud any further. |

queensmith: Why are people so blind to psychological impacts of reversal of negative policies? To you its a hotel or two, to the people, its about the sale of collective patrimony, a legacy. You may want to forever want to be a cynic, good luck to you. it is stupid people like you that will canvass privatisation, only to sell govt corporations to yourself at ridiculously low prices. |

@dayokanu, why do you keep responding to some of the most irresponsible, reckless, puerile and totally lacking in substance post by people who are just what they are 'nairaland contributors'? For long, I knew Tribune titles has lost their bearing and they are only interested in survival particularly when Oluwole Awolowo became the Vice Chairman. For the 8 yrs of Mr. Daniel, there was no month he did not visit 'Mama', dittob Akala, Oyinlola, Oni and even Omisore. Even Dr. Tokunbo Dosunmu Awolowo got ambassadorial position under OBJ. Haters, twist and turn as you like, the contributions of Tinubu, his visionary leadership, his progressive politics is what the yorubas are celebrating today. He committed human and capital resources at great personal risk to liberate the SW from the claws of the scavengers . Call him whatever, how many of his fellow ex-govs that got there as him in 1999 are still politically relevant today? More on the Awo political family, Babatope, Ebino Topsy, was one of the first to denounce Baba Awo. On a personal note, why will anyone want to respond to a YStranger with his endless tales of woe? |

LONDON—Barely a month after marrying 29-year-old Kate Middleton in a royal wedding ceremony watched by an estimated 2 billion people worldwide, Prince William announced Tuesday that he and Middleton have divorced and that the entire marriage was "a tremendous mistake in every possible regard." "I really don't know what I was thinking—we're a terrible match, I don't love her and never have, and, to be honest, I never really had any interest in being married in the first place," announced the now unattached Prince William to a dead-silent British press corps. "People thought our wedding was some sort of fairy tale, but I assure you it was all just some ghastly ceremonial farce that got out of hand. I'm just relieved it's over, frankly. And I'm glad I'll never have to see that awful woman again." Prince William then told the assembled reporters, "Well, see you all later," smiled, and walked back into Buckingham Palace http://www.theonion.com/articles/prince-william-divorces-kate-middleton-after-5-wee,20648/ |

X-factoria: On bolded, are you serious, ignorant or just playing N/L games? Mr. Daniel himself stated the figure. Do your search. Vendetta, logical reasoning or whatever high fallutin word you may want to use to qualify the actions so far, I think the house acted in the best interest of the state. Mr. Daniel is the worst thing that ever happened to Ogun State. His penchant for fetishism was so well acknowledged that even Prof Soyinka re-named him, derogatorily, Dani Elebo. He destroyed the state, subjected the traditional institutions to ridicule, destroyed whatever fabric of love existed among the different peoples of the state etc. Remaining on topic, vendetta or not, most of Mr. Daniels policies were self-serving, myopic and not in the best interset of the state. |
