Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has expressed doubt on his chances of winning this year’s Ballon d’Or award. Speaking with El Partizado de COPE, the Spanish international stated that he can only win the Ballon d’Or award if he lifts the Champions League and World Cup. “I don’t think about it. You’ll be in trouble if you think about winning the Ballon d’Or. Bruno Fernandes says he will leave Manchester United this summer if the club want to cash in on him in the wake of their Europa League final defeat. It emerged earlier this month that Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal are prepared to break the British transfer record and pay Fernandes close to £200million over a three-year contract following talks with his representatives. United will come under more financial pressure than ever after failing to hit a £100m Champions League jackpot by beating Tottenham in the final in Bilbao on Thursday night. And even though it is highly unlikely they would consider selling their captain, Fernandes will go if the deal is in the club’s best interests. “I have always been honest,’ he said. ‘If the club thinks it’s time to part ways because they want to do some cashing in or whatever, it’s what it is. Football sometimes is like this. “I’ve always said I will be here until the club says to me that it’s time to go. I’m eager to do more, to be able to bring the club to the great days. “The day that the club thinks that I’m too much or it’s time to part ways, football is like this, you never know it. But I’ve always said it and I keep my word in the same way.” Read Also:https://www.completesports.com/fernandes-offers-to-leave-man-united-in-summer/

Cyriel Dessers was thrilled to score his 50th goal for Rangers in Wednesday night’s 3-1 victory over Dundee United. Dessers scored the equalising goal for the Light Blues with a stunning header in the 25th minute. The Nigeria international then netted his second of the game from the penalty spot 17 minutes from time. It was his 28th goal of the season 50th overall since linking up with the Gers from Italian club Cremonese in 2023. : “It is very pleasing. As I mentioned before, it’s been a season with ups and downs, too many for everybody’s wishes, but it’s nice to end on a positive feeling here at Ibrox and I know it doesn’t make up for the whole season but it’s a nice feeling,” he told the club’s official website. “You know in these games, you can see it also in their players, that they are getting more tired and spaces are getting bigger so you need to keep the patience and keep the quality high. “I think we did that, also with the guys that came in. That is also good, if you can score two goals [in the second half] it is great and you have total control of the game.” Dessers thanked club captain and regular penalty taker James Tavernier for letting him take the spot kick which allowed him to take his goal tally to 50. He added: “We spoke about it a little bit earlier in the week and I have to thank him for letting me take it. “It’s a beautiful moment for me, the 50th goal and to score it here at Ibrox. That’s something I am very proud of and it’s a big milestone in my career. “It’s been a season with a few bumps, maybe a little bit too many, but I think it was a nice moment after the game for everybody – the fans, the players and the staff.” Read Also:https://www.completesports.com/it-is-very-pleasing-dessers-delight-at-50th-rangers-goal/ 1 Like |

Ruben Amorim its he could leave as Manchester United manager with the Red Devils emulating form from when they were last relegated. They may have booked their place in the Europa League final but Man United’s domestic misery continued with a 2-0 defeat to West Ham at Old Trafford. The result sees Amorim’s men slip to a lowly 16th in the Premier League table with Man United losing 17 of their 36 league outings this term. While relegation isn’t a danger this season, their form replicates that of the 1973/74 season – when Man United were last relegated from the top flight – with their 17th defeat the most league defeats they’ve suffered in a single campaign since they last went down. Amorim succeeded Erik ten Hag as Red Devils boss in November, g a two-and-a-half year deal, but its his days at Old Trafford could be numbered sooner rather than later. The Portuguese also suggested that their Europa League final date with Tottenham merely papers over the cracks on the bigger problems at the club. “Everybody here has to think seriously about a lot of things,” Amorim told the BBC. “Everybody is thinking about the [Europa League] final. The final is not the issue. We have bigger things to think about. “I’m talking about myself and the culture in the club and the culture in the team. We need to change that. “It’s a decisive moment in the history of the club. “We need to be really strong in the summer and to be brave because we will not have a next season like this. “If we start like this, if the feeling is still here, we should give the space to different people.” “To be honest with you, I’m not concerned about the final,” he said. “It’s by far the smallest problem in our club. We need to change something that is deeper than this. “We are showing that in the end of this season that playing Premier League and Champions League for us is the moon, so we need to know that. “I’m not concerned about the final. They (the players) will be focused and I don’t know what is best, if it’s playing Champions League or not. So, let’s think about Chelsea to improve a lot of things.” Read Also:https://www.completesports.com/amorim-hints-at-man-united-departure-over-poor-form/

Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana had his £350,000 Lamborghini Urus impounded for having no insurance. The 29-year-old, who has made a string of gaffes this season, must now act quickly to get cover or the luxury motor could be crushed. Police pulled over the vehicle at on Wednesday morning while one of his pals was at the wheel in Hale Barns, Gtr Manchester. The car was flagged as uninsured on an ANPR camera before being loaded onto a transporter and taken to a police pound. Cameroon international Onana has 14 days to prove he owns the Lambo and has insurance, otherwise it can be auctioned or destroyed. A source said: “Onana has made a few errors this season and insuring his car properly seems to be the latest one.” Onana signed for United from Inter Milan for £50million in 2023 and has made almost 100 appearances for the club, winning the FA Cup in his first season. But he has come under the spotlight for a series of howlers. His wife Melanie, 35, was robbed of a £62,000 Hermes handbag and a Rolex watch in March as she left an upmarket Italian restaurant in Cheshire. A man will stand trial later this year for robbery. Onana is not the first United star to have a car impounded. In 2021, then-midfielder Paul Pogba had his £300,000 Rolls-Royce Wraith seized as it had Monaco-ed plates. The Frenchman was handed three points with a £220 fine and ordered to pay £85 costs at Tameside magistrates’ court. He then racked up thousands more in storage fees for leaving the vehicle in the pound for months. A car can be seized if an officer has grounds to believe the driver is uninsured or is not driving in accordance with their licence. Abia Warriors Head Coach, Imama Amapakabo, says that his side will approach each of their two remaining games in the 2024/2025 NPFL season as a cup final, in a bold effort to realise their first-ever CAF interclub competition ambition for next season, Completesports.com reports. Abia Warriors currently sit third in the Premier League table with 57 points and will need to avoid defeat in their final two fixtures—against El-Kanemi Warriors (in Umuahia) and Ikorodu City at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos—to secure a top-three finish. Amapakabo, a former Nigeria junior international who won the 2015/2016 NPFL title with Rangers, previously had a managerial stint with Rwandan club Etoile de l’Est. The 55-year-old tactician spoke after Abia Warriors were held to a 1–1 draw by Niger Tornadoes in a matchday 36 encounter at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, on Wednesday, 7 May 2025. Asked whether the result was capable of stabilising his team’s push for a possible second or third-place finish—positions that could guarantee continental football next season—Amapakabo reiterated his team’s focus on taking each of the remaining matches as cup finals. “NPFL is the only league in the world where all 20 teams dream of continental tickets. It doesn’t happen anywhere else,” Amapakabo said in a philosophical tone. “When we started, nobody gave us a chance. But here we are with two games to go. Like I always say, every game is like a cup final for us. We’ll go home and play El-Kanemi Warriors. “Thereafter, we’ll face Ikorodu City, which is our final game, and Abia Warriors are still in the mix. So, let’s see how it goes. We’ll continue to dig in and believe we can get the best possible result. “I always tell my players—keep your heads up, run as fast as you can, and forget every other distraction.” Abia Warriors absorbed relentless pressure from the hosts in the first half of Wednesday’s nail-biting contest on the bumpy surface of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium. Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina has expressed satisfaction with the team’s stalemate against Crystal Palace. Forest and Crystal Palace played out a 1-1 draw in their Premier League clash at the Selhurst Park on Monday night. Winger Eberechi Eze gave the home team the lead from the penalty spot after the hour mark. The visitors fought back four minutes later with centre-back Murillo netting the equaliser. Palace were unlucky not to go home with maximum points with Eze hitting the woodwork afterwords. “I think it’s a good point away from home. Tough to come here — they are a good side. And you know, with the level that we hit recently, a point is a good result,” Aina told Sky Sports. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have claimed just four points from their last five league games. Aina said they will keep working hard to achieve their objective for the season. “It just happens. This is football, sometimes it just doesn’t go your way,” he added. “Unfortunately for us, it hasn’t gone our way recently but the hard work continues and we try to get three points every game but we couldn’t get that today.” Read Also:https://www.completesports.com/a-good-point-aina-reflects-on-forest-draw-with-crystal-palace/

However, the 33-year-old defender did not complete the season with the Pride of Rivers, having travelled to Saudi Arabia where he signed for Al-Nahdah FC. “This would have been my fourth league title—just that I travelled to Saudi Arabia before the season ended when Rivers United won it in 2022,” the towering centre-back said. Reflecting on the match that crowned Remo Stars champions—a matchday 35 clash at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne—Anaemena itted the fixture against Niger Tornadoes was predictably tough. “We knew it was going to be tough. You know, playing against relegation-battling teams at this stage is always tough. Remo Stars will travel to face El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri for this weekend’s matchday 36 fixture. After that, they will return to their Ikenne home ground for a matchday 37 fixture against Ikorodu City, during which the 2024/2025 NPFL title will be presented to them. “That’s our last home game of the season and that’s when, traditionally, the trophy will be presented,” he said. “And of course, there will be a guard of honour too.” He disclosed that hard work, patience, and discipline were the key factors behind Remo Stars’ maiden NPFL title win. Regarding their 2025/2026 CAF Champions League campaign, Anaemena said preparations would begin immediately after the current season to ensure they perform well in the continent’s elite club competition. I had to keep ing that I even played football, and that we were fighting for the Top 4,’ he wrote. “It was even more complicated, because it was right in the middle of the pandemic, and the logistics of getting home were a nightmare. “My wife was pregnant with our third child, and Covid was exploding again in Brazil. Her doctor said that it was risky for her to travel, so she had to stay in Liverpool with our kids. That was total anguish for her, because she loved my father so much. “We always joked that he loved her the most. Arsenal great Thierry Henry has advised Gunners manager Mikel Arteta to change his tactics against PSG in the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals clash. PSG won the first-leg last night in London 1-0 courtesy of Ousmane Dembele’s fourth minute goal. In a chat with CBS Sports, Henry stated that Arteta must twist his tactics against PSG in Paris. “There is another tie,” Henry said on CBS Sports Golazo. “You never know what’s gonna happen. “PSG were far superior in this game, so a lot needs to be changed in order for Arsenal to make sure that they can beat PSG over in Paris. It’s going be a different ball game. “But as soon as Dembele came off tonight, PSG dropped a bit more. It was easier for Arsenal to put pressure because Dembele wasn’t coming and getting the ball. “But, yeah, like I said, you’re still in the tie. Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has tipped Barcelona to overcome Inter Milan in tomorrow’s Champions League semi-finals clash. The Nigerian international made this known in an interview with UEFA’s UCL Off Pitch episode 3, where he said that Barca possess a far attacking threat than Inter Milan. “It is tough because Inter are good, defensively they are very good. And Lautaro Martinez is a very good focal point. I am going to go Barcelona because the way they attack is scary. “It is free-flowing football, very attacking. They got exciting wingers in Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, even players coming off the bench like Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo. “Going forward they are very creative and an exciting team to watch. So any defense, it is going to be a problem for them to contain those players.” Read Also:https://www.completesports.com/ucl-barca-will-overwhelm-inter-milan-iwobi/
