More than a year after NYSC... no lucrative job showing forth still. It saddens my heart whenever I that getting job in this country is majorly based on knowing an elite as there seems to be no opportunity for bright minds without godfather... no hope for the common man who isn't born with a silver spoon. I'm presently at the point of giving up but I believe that the Lord is on the throne.

Good morning Nairalanders, I've been having sleepless night recently as I've been confused in decision making due to the fact that I'm not well experienced about Job matters. I presently got an offer at a State Public Service with GL 8 Salary Scale of 63k+ monthly (though it's poor) but with a rest assured constant Promotion every 3 years subject to success in Promotion Exercise. There's also hope that in the next 18 years, I'll get to the Directorate levels (GL 15 - 17) where the Pay Structure seems better with Jumbo rise compared to the poor salary structure of GL 7 - 14... Meaning that I'll have to endure till then before enjoyment start coming. Please note that in addition to Promotion every 3 years, this State Public Service don't owe workers salary as they pay in due time as we all know that Public Service has Job Security. Also, I hope by God's Grace that I become a Permanent Secretary if I decide to choose this path while enduring the Salary (I can switch to Federal Parastatals if the Job Offer comes up later though). On the other hand, I'm about to get a Full time Staff offer from a Multinational Company (Headquarter is based in the US) with more than 120k Salary for a start. There's Career growth and the chance of living comfortably & enjoying life is cool compared to the State Public Service in of Salary. We all know that Private Organisations can decide to lay off workers at any time as there's no Job Security. Also, I don't know if Multinational Companies usually lay off only Contract Staff or they can decide to lay off Permanent Staff as well... Though, the Multinational Company have a Pension Scheme for their Staff & didn't lay off workers during this COVID-19 Pandemic as they were operating during the lockdown since they provide essential services. I wasn't born & brought up with a Silver Spoon and I never pray to struggle in life henceforth as Poverty must die. I'm a Second Class Upper graduate with proven abilities and outstanding performance as I'm a Problem Solver. I need the assistance of experienced Nairalanders as your advice and point of views with detailed explanations will be highly appreciated. Cc Mr Seun Lalasticlala |

Mtschewwww:So you expect their Officers to tell you that they're earning above 100k? I can't just stop laughing... Even GL 8 Officers that were employed in 2011 through the 2010 Recruitment ment never earned below 100k. The reason for the complaint about their poor welfare is due to the rigorous nature of their work in which is hazardous in nature as they believe that they should be earning more. However... It you refuse to accept correction, I won't reply you henceforth. 4 Likes |

Mtschewwww:Stop arguing... Accept correction from what the guy above me told you. NDLEA GL 8 (CON 08) Officers earn well above 100k even before this new minimum wage. I won't state the exact figure due to the confidentiality of the agency on matters but that's just the fact. 3 Likes |

vinoc:What are you insinuating? So because he's unemployed means that he can't rally round his family in order to raise 500k and pave way for his own personal success? Abi na my doorstep him go come dey drop his monthly 300k salary once he gets the job? The fact is that it's something that he can afford without complaining bearing in mind the life benefits attached on the long run.

oscar4lyf:Doctors working in Public Service earn 250k+ as salary on entry level (the 500k that you'll see within 2 months of getting the appointment)... You're now claiming that 500k is too much for the slot the guy is offering you. In my own opinion sef, the slot is cheap from the view of the salary involved (even FCSC, paramilitary of lesser salary don't have such cheap slot nowadays)... I just hope that it's authentic as claimed by the guy. Well, you never sit down tire for house sha. 9 Likes |
