GboyegaD: You are entitled to your opinion as I am to mine. I choose to celebrate what this istration has done by completing the blue line and building the red line from scratch to where it is now in operation. We can ask for more while celebrating what they have achieved. |

GboyegaD: All the while it was stalled by different funding conflicts and issues. But since all the issues have been resolved under this current istration, there has been consistent progress. 16 years or not, it is worth celebrating when you compare it to similar projects across the country like Rivers and Akwa Ibom that have been abandoned. 7 Likes 3 Shares |

I am very impressed with the degree of progress made on this rail project and so many other projects across the Lagos metropolis. One thing I like about Babajide Sanwoolu's istration is that once they commence a project, you will see consistent progress until it finishes. You rarely see a contractor abandon site for months unlike the previous governments. Kudos to them. 3 Likes |

Sheuns: There were pigs being reared at Mile 2 bus stop. They used to forage on the heaps of refuse that sprung up beside the pedestrian bridge. You can ask anyone that lived in Mile 2 Estate and frequented the bus stop right opposite the current Train Station during Ambode's time. Ambode did averagely well in some aspects of governance. But he failed WOEFULLY in the areas of road construction and waste management/sanitation in my opinion. He did NOTHING on the railway blue line that was started under Fashola; he abandoned the ongoing construction of Lagos - Badagry expressway; basically abandoned the entire Amuwo-Odofin - Ojo - Oriade axis. You can hate Sanwoolu. But that man has done very well especially in the area of road construction and public infrastructure. The Blue line is up and running and the project to extend it to Okoko from the current termination point in Mile 2 is moving at a steady pace. The Badagry expressway has received massive attention. The Red line is also up and running. So many infrastructural projects currently ongoing. I have nothing against Ambode or Fashola. They did their best during their tenure. But if Ambode had continued with Fashola's pace and work when he took over, he would have achieved a lot more. He rather spent his time fighting unnecessary battles and trying to erase the latter's legacies. 1 Like |

Coming out of the military era, Lagos was an eyesore. There were literally mountains of refuse across several parts of the metropolis. Tinubu came and cleared most of those mountains and put in place the framework for LAWMA. Fashola continued his good works with the sanitation and beautification of many open areas across Lagos. Things went very bad under Ambode due to the Visionscape debacle. The heaps of refuse began to mount again. People literally began to raise pigs at Mile 2 busstop because the pigs always had enough to forage and eat from the piles of refuse at the busstop. Sanwoolu is doing his best against the back drop of the indiscriminate dumping of refuse. We the prople need to do bette . |

AmazingGenius: I have some friends who swear by Canada since they moved. I also have a few who curse the day they decided to move. The move to Canada or any of the other japa destinations works for some and doesn't for some others. It is a huge leap of faith after all said and done. But just know that a lizard in Nigeria doesn't automatically become a crocodile abroad just by emigrating. It takes a lot of prayers, patience, planning and HARDWORK! 1 Like |

God1000: The woman must have been pregnant for at least 9 months. Didn't he at least make some plans for the delivery? 🤔 If you knew you didn't have any cash, why take her to a private hospital and not a public hospital where the process is subsidized by government? Frankly speaking, this man is more culpable in his wife's death than the hospital. 😡 1 Like |

Sheuns: No that is not correct. Arewa is simply the Hausa word for North or Northern. It does not refer to the people but to the North as a cardinal point. Northerners are referred to as Mutannen Arewa - People of the North. The other cardinal points are Yamma - West, Gabas - East and Kudu - South. The north is also quite diverse in history, culture and traditions. The only thing that really binds the tribes together is Islam as a religion. But Christianity and Animism is still widely practiced especially among the Hausa tribes. 1 Like |

ogododo: Why do Nigerian politicians enjoy making vacuous statements? What does "Fubara remains Rivers State governor" mean? Can he exercise any of the powers of River State governor at the moment? Can he step into government house? Can he access the State's s? NO!!! So what state governor is he ![]() This statement is like those empty nonsense people say at funeral's to make themselves feel good. You hear crap like "he lives in our hearts"! No he doesn't! He is freaking dead and gone, never to be seen again. There are 2 options open to Fubara - one is to brief his lawyers to open up a case to challenge his suspension in court OR accept his suspension in good faith and use the 6 months to create channels of rapprochement with the law makers and the Presidency. 1 Like 1 Share |

Islie: The chairman of the Ethics committee did not suspend Senator Akpoti; the Ethics committee constituted of Senators across gender and party lines, voted overwhelmingly to place her on suspension. While concerns about the chairman's history are valid, I really do not see what it has to do with this current situation and further speaks to Senator Akpoti's vendetta against the Senate. Everyone will be alright. |

Osazeidehen: I knew it was only a matter of time before Senator Natasha plays this card. That is the standard go-to for women when they realize they have thoroughly messed up - pull out the "sexual assault" card and play victim to sway public opinion in their favor. While I do not wish to dismiss her allegations outright, it is curious that she chose this moment to go public—especially when it boils down to her word against the Senate President’s. More so, it raises the question of how this accusation connects to her earlier refusal to adhere to Senate protocol by declining to move to her reassigned seat, a directive that other affected senators complied with without incident. That said, I strongly believe this allegation should be thoroughly investigated. If Senator Akpabio is found guilty, he must be held able—public officials should not be allowed to abuse their power. However, Senator Natasha should also be investigated for disregarding Senate authority during last week’s proceedings. ability should go both ways. 4 Likes |

LibertyRep: Very possible. That's why I used "probably." But here's the thing: even if you are not a business person, you buy things in today's market. As a consumer, you definitely have felt the impact of inflation. Compare the price of things in 2013 and now. Compare the price of fuel, foreign exchange, etc. We all complain about poor network quality and call on the networks to improve. But we are still paying the same rates for calls and data since 2013? Please let's be real and fair to these businesses. |

Posterity will Sanwoolu as one of the best governors of Lagos because of the sheer number of big-ticket projects he was able to start and deliver during his tenure. From roads, to bridges, to trains, to hospitals, to security; the man has made his mark on virtually every sector. Now I just wish he could set the ball rolling on the Lagos power autonomy plan. Lagos needs to develop its own autonomous power grid for efficiency.

Omo, the roads in Satellite Town were a complete mess before, but most have now been transformed. Under Sanwoolu government, the area has gotten a new lease of life. The stretch from Navy Gate to Close 1 Junction is still under construction, but progress is ongoing, and I have no doubt it will be completed soon. The next challenge is stopping the heavy-duty trucks from parking on the roads, or they’ll deteriorate again. Kudos to Governor Sanwoolu.

Islie: I’ve said this before, under Nigerian law, the police don’t always need a search warrant to enter a property. While Section 37 of the Constitution protects the right to privacy and generally requires a warrant issued by a magistrate or judge, the law also makes room for exceptions. There are ALWAYS exceptions to the rule. For instance If there’s an emergency, like a threat to life, public safety, or the risk of evidence being destroyed, the police can act without waiting for a warrant. They’re also allowed to enter if they’re chasing a suspect, have reasonable grounds to believe a crime is happening inside, or if the occupant agrees to let them in. There are also specific laws, such as those dealing with the customs or anti-terrorism, that allow searches without a warrant under certain conditions. Even under US law, police can sometimes force access if the have "probable cause" to believe there is a need to. The challenge for them is that if the citizen chooses to exercise their rights, the police may have to prove that "probable cause" before a judge or have whatever "evidence gathered during the raid squashed. These is not to excuse the actions of the Nigerian Police of showing up for raids dressed like touts and wearing face masks. They should come dressed in their official rigs clearing showing they are police men. |

obedience4: While deeply unfortunate, the complex nature of counter-terrorism operations in Northern Nigeria often requires the armed forces to act swiftly on intelligence to maintain tactical advantage. The situation is further complicated by the presence of terrorist sympathizers among the local population and saboteurs within the military ranks themselves. Though regrettable, such unfortunate incidents can sometimes occur given these challenging circumstances. While I empathize with this poor villagers, their plight should serve as a sobering warning to those in other regions contemplating armed resistance or insurgency. Before allowing your homeland to become a battlefield for any reason, you would do well to consider the consequences. There is a proverb that say if you gather ant-infested firewood, you shouldn't be surprised when lizards come to visit. |
