Several times I hear people say Africans are better than Americans because we have "Values and Respect" we raise our children better, we have long lasting marriages.
First of all, we don't raise children, we intimidate them into becoming timid docile adults who can't think for themselves, make life saving decisions but be asking "what do I do" after almost being murdered by their spouses, adults who won't leave when someone wants to clearly murder them because they have been told leaving a marriage is a shame and people will "talk" so you find an adult asking what to do in a clear situation.
We have intimidated kids into a total lack of curiosity. Instead of learning about diseases and seeking solutions to find cure, we simply tell them it's juju and say things like " what an old person can see sitting down, a young man can't see standing up" chikenan, this child whose curiosity may have helped us cure cancer is turned into one of them " Type Amen" characters on facebook stories of " This girl gave a stranger water and since then she became half paralyzed, may Destiny killers never see you", the now grown adult can't think or probe further to realise the lady may have had a stroke because the sitting down learned elder has told him Juju Exists and juju people sit and plot how to suck blood and steal destinies every day.
This is how a man will come back after 8 hours at work sit and wait for his wife who works 14 hours to come home and cook because they have told him that women must cook.
A woman will have N2 million in her and wait for her husband to go and look for loan so they can pay school fees because they told her a man must provide
We create saddists: we flog kids into enjoying the pain of others. You flog a child till you draw blood then you are satisfied, child grows to be an adult who only finds joy when others are in pain.

Nigerian society is too tainted with religious extremism for even the highly educated to function properly. Look at all the problems we have created in Nigeria because of people who are "absolutely sure" of the existence of a sky Daddy - Boko Haram, killing of twins; prosperity gospel aka spiritual corruption; killing of 'witches'; etc. Yet, the most significant consequence of our extreme religious belief is that Nigeria is a country of 180 million people, the vast majority of whom are AWAITING the end of the world. If you believe the world is coming to an end, why would you be FULLY committed to make your society a better place? Most Nigerians believe that this world does not matter because they are gonna START A NEW LIFE WITH THEIR SKY DADDY after the world ENDS. This is one of the most fundamental reason behind Nigeria's underdevelopment. So, until a sizable number of Nigerians are committed to creating HEAVEN on this Nigerian EARTH, rather than awaiting some sky Daddy to descend from the sky and save us, corruption and underdevelopment continues to no end.

I have really observed that its national football like this that always bring Nigerians together, here our players one another irrespective of ethnicity,no discrimination of any kind, no tribal offensive comments in this thread among Nigerian fans.

Anyway, do you know that even the most intelligent and smart people in the world doesn't use up to 20% of their brain capacity? Do you also know that even those with the best IQ in the world still struggle to things at times?
I'm not disputing your facts but they are not in context with my points.
When I was in school, sometimes, I read all through the night, without sleeping at all, only to go to exams hall in the morning and find myself struggling to the things I read.
I have also seen brilliant students who started performing poorly in Academics the moment they start mingling and sleeping with girls. Though, they still read before going for exams, but they find it difficult to recall what they read.
