I ed them and they said that I will need a letter from the embassy stating I no longer needed funds...

Defering may not be the best option. My school TU Clausthal said the winter semester will be a hybrid semester and they said everyone who needed a letter of presence must enrol as soon as possible. I did because the embassy already stated it's a requirement and they sent my letter of presence stating I must be present 14.01.21 latest and my enrolment certificate will be sent to me in 2 weeks time. So once classes starts on Oct. 26, I'll start attending lectures online while waiting for the embassy to give appointment date. I'm watching the development at the embassy to know how things unfolds. We keep our fingers crossed and pray for appointment date although I still have a lot of time for consideration till January 2021.

Don't mislead people. I have deferred ission twice for someone and the school is even ready to defer it for the third time if there's no interview date.

Always say what you know and don't generalise with your experience.

I think you can defer depending on the school... when I pleaded with my school university of applied sciences Bonn to extend enrollment date they told me NO but the least they can do is allow me defer...

Thank you for this response... The poster even generalized it for the entire . I wonder where he got his information from. Only God knows how many times I have deferred my ission. The international office of my university has turned me to regular customer...

I spoke with a lady at the German embassy this morning, she said don't think they'll issue students visa for winter semester.

You are not writing any letter. Just tell the person to go his city's foreign or Alien"s office to apply for the sponsore letter. Its the office that will issue out the letter to him after cross checking his documents and eligibility.

Speak for your own institution.
If I am unable to enroll before application deadline automatically my ission turns void..
