very true. Obiano deployed over 4 different major contractors to deliver the runway, apron, terminal building, airport road, taxi way etc. and all of them are working simultaneously right now on site.

the airport is for large body aircraft. the length of the runway is 3.6km, same length as Abuja and Lagos airports.

Lets just clear one misconception that has become pervasive. The airport is located at Umuleri not Aguleri where Akpokiedike hails from. The Umuleri town was at war with Aguleri for some time, however , its all in the past. To show what an honest person he is he situated the airport at Umuleri. Take note and stop misinforming people

In Anambra we dont practice clannish politics. Every part of our father land must be developed. The airport was previously planned for Oba , a town next to Umuoji but that area is fast becming filled up and putting an airport there is not ideal but I am still happy for our northern brothers

I'm from Anambra but this is a complete waste of money, there isn't much air traffic to the airports in the eastern region except PH airport, why build another one when we aren't experiencing heavy traffic in the other airports like Enugu and Owerri airports.
The money would have better served in rehabilitating and improving rural roads and water projects in the state

The picture you showed of parallel runways does it hold small aircrafts, the render you showed is an airport larger than the ones in Abuja and Lagos. Which both have only one runway, to have two runways looking like that it should hold 50 million engers per year, and we both know no where in Nigeria has that much demand.
