Joy, I don't mean to stab your hope, but interview invites were sent on the same day. Let's hope for new opportunities. NNPC has been striked out.

Local man was hit hard to say the least. Having been job hunting, for six years now and witnessing such terrible success rate consistently, left me in tatters yesterday. Thinking of my debts, my aspirations, my humble requests to God and how everything appears to once again have failed almost made me give up.

I have been to countless interviews but somehow something militates against me at these final stages. At a time my hand accident stopped me from proceeding. Last year alone, I had 3 opportunities come my way, I aced all stages up to the interviews in all three but still didn't make it in any.

Currently, applying for GT roles will not work without some white lies because of my age. Looking at my mates, they are all hooked up somewhere better. Some have even lost respect for me. . Virtually everyone even children who knew nothing abt my NNPC dream in the school I teach in, spoke positively into my life concerning a better job. But God said wait yet again.

I had lived in denial since yesterday evening but I think I have finally moved on.

I want to congratulate all the successful applicants and pray for a smooth career for you all. I also want to urge all the unsuccessful applicants to take heart something worth it is coming for us all in no distant time. Keep doing what God has blessed you with for now and one day you all will live the dream.

Finally, I wish all EH applicants their heart desires, It will end in praise for the Successful ones just as in the case of the GT'S.

To those who may be able to help a Chemical Engineer, your help will be highly appreciated.

For now, I am off to teach while, working, walking and waiting on God.

Am currently with ExxonMobil on graduate internship with the logistics department. There is assurance of conversion to contract after my program but still within logistics dept


Recently I got dangote fertilizer graduate trainee offer with a five year bond. I will be trained overseas and can only leave after five years.

I was thinking NNPC will come through but now I've got to make a choice.

I hold a first class degree in chemical engineering (2018) and am ionate about career.

What would you advice. Does working as a logistic personnel count as an experience, should I accept dangote offer. Am confused. please pardon my typo, am still basking in the euphoria of this heartbreak from NNPC

In of pay, Exxon pays above 500 as contract while dangote pays 180k after training.

Im not saying they will definitely continue but think about this, on the day of the interview some got notifications as early as 8am while some got around 6pm. While for this it started at around 4 pm and ended 6pm. It might be possible that not everyone was sent mails in the 2 hour timeframe. But whether you get a mail or not just know that it says nothing about your capabilities or lack thereof. I pray Allah comforts those that did not get with better opportunities.

I feel so too. The testimonies here are not up to 100. We know that a larger proportion are not on Nairaland, but out of the 1050, at least 300 should be on Nairaland. Whichever way, God is still on the throne .

You have a tough situation at hand. I think it will boil down to your long term aspirations.

That aside, I would say a bird at hand is worth two in the bush but you are free to gamble nevertheless. The way i see it, exxon is not fully at hand.

Bro, I was never keen at this NNPC thing. Even by my earning at the time I applied, it would still be a pay cut for me.

And now, the gap between what I applied for and my current position has become even wider. So I’m never gonna take the offer if it comes, except God forbid, I lose my job.

We went out rejoicing that i did not have time to post on NL. We are back home now.

How are u sure u will get converted to contract in ExxonMobil. If u must know, not everyone that intern in ExxonMobil get contract, some walk away with nothing at the end of the internship. Though some get converted but there isn't no guarantee. It may come and may also not come.
I will advice you give this some thought and make the right decision to avoid regret.

Ah... U missed it na... I was notified. Two of my Benue friends were notified too, tiv and igede.

NNPC is not the end of life. I know someone who left NNPC in 2016 for a better job in this Nigeria. One should always pray for the best in life.
