President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday threatened to terminate the lives of ballot box snatchers.

Mr Buhari while speaking at the caucus meeting of the All Progressive Congress (APC) strongly warned those who wish to thwart the will of the people to shelve their plan or pay with their live when caught.

To further explain how serious he was while issuing the threat, the president said he has ordered security agencies to waste the life of anyone trying to cart away ballot boxes or intends to disrupt voting process.

This has attracted reactions from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who criticised the president’s position on election rigging.

Is the president’s threat constitutional? POLITICS TIMES reports that the Electoral Act (2010), says otherwise and does not prescribe death for any electoral offence.

Section 129 (4) of the Electoral Act states, “Any person who snatches or destroys any election material commits an offence and is liable on conviction to 24 months imprisonment.”

In of electoral violence, the act stipulates in Section 131 that anyone found culpable “is liable on conviction to a fine of N1,000, 000 or imprisonment for a term of three years.”

VERDICT: The president’s comment is unconstitutional since we are in a democratic regime. It is only applicable in a military regime and can be likened to that of a dictator.

Don't mind the sinking tyrant and his bunch of occult morons.

They are the ones twisting the word of the murderous tyrant to suit there murderous inclinations. ers of this idiocy are the reason there are large scale killings in the land on daily basis.

Nowhere did tyrant mention ARMED ballot snatching. But his hopeless ers had to import that into the narrative just to satisfy their god's quest for innocent blood. Even armed robbers are not killed extra judicially except in cases of self-defense. It's folks like the tyrant ers that lynch people on the street for stealing bread. No single value for human life.

The tyrant threatened POTENTIAL "ballot snatchers" with military extra judicial killings DURING AN ELECTION WEEK and they are here and there ing it.

Shame on all of you, if you are one of those who this madness.

Mohomodu Buhary can never change as a tyrant.

“The Electoral Act (2010), however, does not prescribe death for any electoral offence.

The maximum sentence for snatching of ballot boxes is 24 months in prison.

Section 129 (4) of the Electoral Act states, “Any person who snatches or destroys any election material commits an offence and is liable on conviction to 24 months imprisonment.”

Those ing this shoot-at-sight order of Buhary should watch their back. RIP in advance to innocent Nigerians who will be labeled ballots box snatchers.

If you plan to snatch ballot box or compromise the electoral process in anyway, PMB has a message for you: you are doing so at the expense of your life. In clear , rig and die. Consider your life before snatching that ballot box. No politician is worth losing your life for. The OP and the electoral act can’t save you. Atiku or the politician you intend to snatch a ballot box for won’t even attend your burial. You have been warned. Period.

i once worked as an adhoc staff of inec, they tell us including the security agents not to struggle, pursue or fight with anybody trying to steal the ballot box. Cause they automatically cancel the polling unit. So the police usual dont stop, leaves them.

Buhari thinks he is smart !! that was clearly a call for the military to use all possible force to make sure he wins the elections, expect to hear lies of imaginary box snatchers appear every where on the east and middle belt as the Army intimidate populations not loyal to Buhari.

Yes it is.

Oga we are in a democratic setting. Tell Buhari to sign the amended electoral act into law first. There is no other way to thwart the will of the people other than refusing to sign that bill into law.

Don't Illegality because it might one day hunt you down.

Please just stop okay, Nigeria's elections have historically been marred by violence, a good number emanating from conflicts with ballot box snatchers, and an estimated 5.4million lives lost since the fourth republic, how many have been convicted...due process in this country is flawed, and the people that commit these heinous crimes are defective, and don't deserve a day in court!

I want to ask, why didn't he give such orders to security agencies when herdsmen were having a field day slaughtering farmers?

Why didn't he unleash the IPOB treatment on killer herdsmen if he is truly out to sanitize the polity?
