@ilegendd has some points you know. Though not everybody will agree with what he wrote up there. What I did was that I selected some of the points I know are fair enough and I gladly moved on.

Most of these happen unconsciously — they don't even know they're doing it. It's advance human social psychology for men and woman. It's a must read. It will help you become aware of many mental games people play in a nonchalant manner.

If you don't know what is inside that book below, someone who has the knowledge can easily manipulate you even if you're intelligent and smart.

The game of the brain requires intelligence and smartness, but what most people lack are precision, timing, and execution. They can't detect subliminal messages or words. Each word in the dictionary has an emotion it evokes in our subconscious mind.

In my own opinion, the easiest and most effective way to cage oneself is to expect too much respect, love and acceptance from people. When you know that your comments or opinions are subject to debate or even outright rejection, and accept that people are entitled to their own interpretation or perception of your opinions, then no level of compliments can cage you.
