I understood his point very well but it seems you didn't understand mine. Okay, I will take your scenario of bag of rice and every other things been doubled to explain. How about if you also double the 199k, Is there no change left from 450k? Why do you think people said that export is the key to this recession?

Anyway, I have made my point. You guys can take advantage of it or continue with an excuse. That mount Everest is so tall does not mean people have not succeeded in climbing it. You can take the bull by the horns or you can allow the bull to take you by the head.
cheesy People dey trigger this recession time sha.

People living outside Nigeria pays the double inflated prices on every commodity sold in Nigeria, rather than taking advantage of the high exchange rate they are not in true because they are paying double like everyone else.

Infact, a lot of people who live outside Nigeria spend more money within a month of visiting their fatherland than they will spend overseas in a month. When they convert Pounds to Naira it looks good in bulk but it will finish within a short period.

For example in the UK, you can fill your car tank with diesel £50 for 200 Km distance but you will need £100 diesel for the same 200 km distance in Nigeria due to meter adjustments, low quality gas.

Everything in Nigeria is inflated and everyone pays the price.

Mavinc4u has a point on the basis that increase in prices of goods and services aren't always directly proportional to increase in exchange rate.

For some items, over 100% increase (for instance, poly bag has increased 200% in price but the price of Super Bite has stayed same). For others, less than that.

Everyone spends according to the standard of living of his location. You can't compare someone with minimum wage of 18k to someone with minimum wage of 600k plus, it does not add up.

Oya, come let's swap location just for this recession. grin grin

Don't worry, the Almighty will see us through.

Please Onatisi how true is this
I overheard some group saying that people should change all their naira to dollar because the real shit is about to happen, they said dollar will get to N1000 plus. The funny part is that if people should change all their naira to dollar, what will they be using to transact for their daily activities.

Meanwhile if you are staying abroad and you are not able to build bungalow in Nigeria during this time irrespective of your gender then you need real deliverance because this is the time for those staying abroad to become rich.

Bro it's not easy as it seems o. Things are expensive here, I even pity those staying in more advanced countries. House rent alone in KL Malaysia is upto #100,000/month if you want to live in a decent area, and nice room. This is a room rent o, not a whole flat. If you choose ghetto within KL then you will be thinking of #30 - #40k. To barbe self is between 10 - 20 Malaysia ringgit. Convert that to naira at the rate of 110 - 150/naira.
Omo when cost of living is high, it's difficult to save mehn

Bros you dont seem to understand what mavin is saying.
This is what I realized when I left Nigeria that when survival becomes difficult, achievement becomes impossible. Yes for those staying outside Nigeria ,to save may not be easy as those at home think. To earn dollars is was but to save it maybe hard. In Nigeria the situation is terrible, the nation is virtually on lockdown. When u go to naija u will realize what I am saying. When u are abroad to feed ,clothe or do normal things are easy although after those things there may not be much to save, food isn't any problem but in Nigeria even to feed comfortably and adequately is a real war for millions in Nigeria, now tell me is it the person who is finding it difficult to eat 3 square meals that will now think of saving of buying a house ?

I had more than 25k, I did the transaction expecting a 460 rate but after the transaction, I checked back and was surprised at how much was temporarily deducted. na so I clear the immediately and left their temporary deduction there with small change...
