Abuja Nurses And Doctors To Face Over Abandonment Of Accident Victim (13419 Views)

I think all medical practitioners in general and teaching hospitals need to be sensitized. It's a national syndrome among them. Many of them are so callous about human lives and seem disinterested in their jobs. Imagine asking a doctor about my health and he's angry I'm asking. What nonsense.

Image123:Exactly! One of the underlying issues is shortage of staff which cause the few ones on ground to burn out readily because hospitals run 24/7. This is aside the poor pay they collect! |

From your long quote trying to analyse dessemination of duties, I think the victim should've been left for death. Since it's not the duty of the samaritan that brought him to the hospital to do so. Bro. Have you ever visited most of these govt. health facilities to see the lackadaisical attitude of staffs? While trying to draw govt attention on the need to employ more hands, this act should be totally condemn please. Jman06: 4 Likes |

adamkkk: I once took my friend who had a fatal accident there around 10pm. Drs refused to attend to him except d consultant (that only visit once a week and that was d day he had earlier visited). A kind nurse called me aside and gave me d consultant phone number but warned me not to mention her name. When I called him, d first question he asked was who gave me his phone number. I asked him if he isn't a public officer and a service provider paid with hard earned tax payers money to provide services? I told him it's insensitive for him to asked me how I got his phone number. He told me that he can only come d following week that he's done for d week (that was Monday oh) that he only comes once a week. I reminded him that my conversation with him is recorded should anything untoward happens to my friend and that I will hold him able. That was when he asked if I had gotten d card, I told him that was done a long time ago, within 5 minutes, he arrived. When he saw d level of d injury, he had to invite another consultant to him. Conversely, if I didn't take that step, imagine what would had happened to my friend? U see those people, they r heartless. 6 Likes |

adamkkk: I have a bad experience in University of Abuja Teaching Hospital where a student doctor gave the wrong treatment to a patient and he died. The wrong injection led to immediate system collapse, the senior doctor who came to the scene as the young man who happens to be a university student was gasping for breath was blaming the House Officer but they covered it up and told the dead patient's relative that it was the will of Allah. I couldn't take up the matter because my own relative was in a critical situation at that point battling for his life. I dread Nigeria hospitals, what happened there is exactly the situation of handling Accident victims in General hospitals |

Jman06:How did you arrive at the conclusion that it is lack of staff that made them to not bring the guy out of the car? |
Berankis: 1:19pm On Jun 11 |
The is madt. If it was not on video, they would deny it. Now they just want to punish the staff, when in truth, the management are responsible.

souldeep:In accident cases like this, the PORTERS are responsible for carrying the victims into wards. Now where there are no porters on ground, what do you expect? The doctors and nurses, most of whom are women, are not the right people to start lifting the victims into stretchers and carrying them into wards for treatment. If you had male doctors or nurses, they could help out of comion, not their duties! But with biased and lopsided appointments, most Nigerian hospitals are filled with female staff who can only do little. 1 Like |

ADAMUdaCOWBOY:Lifting the victims out of the car and onto stretchers is the duty of porters or nursing assistants and not that of the doctor or nurse. From the clip, no porters were on ground to do that, so you don't expect the doctor (or nurse) -- who's a woman to carry the victims. |
Blitzking: 1:29pm On Jun 11 |
Jman06:Absolutely..Dr's are not porters..bit these days dey wan turn them to Dr's.. nurses..porters...even cleaners..lab attendant...orderly etc..very annoying..if they can help its out of comion not a duty 2 Likes |

It's very dangerous to ur licence to work in a government hospital cos 1) they are poorly equipped and staffed 2) the workload no get limit na till you kpai 3) God help you a patient get one politician number dem go use u take shine even with the dilapidated state of the facility and to boost their ego to their fan base that dey are working 4) patient will never understand these things and will descend on you..Will u manufacture mechanical ventilator or oxygen or bedspace or will u turn urself to an orderly 2 Likes |

One of the highest SKILL to have to become a Nurse or Teacher is.... EMPATHY. If you don't have EMPATHY, please do not become a Nurse or a Teacher. Thank you. 2 Likes |

Image123: Not forgetting that relatives of the patient are on standby to beat up clinical staff if the patient dies. No medical staff, I repeat NO MEDICAL STAFF is happy at the death of a patient. But Nigeria has taught them to protect themselves first. Touch the patient now and when it's time to pay bills, stories arise. |

Seriously serious. I hope is not a cover-up for the gloves. I pity the nurse. The doctors also are in for the mess. Emergency doctor should be always available to intervene in this situation

I always said it that it is high time Nigerians start getting all these abnormalities on camera. The authorities will be uncomfortable when the evidences are so glaring.

somethinggood:Definitely not to lift a hefty victim off the car and onto stretchers and then pushing into the ward. Porters are responsible for that job not nurses nor doctors. Imagine a female nurse or doctor being expected to lift such a victim! Let's learn how to channel our anger to the right people (ie government) who fail to employ enough hands to man our hospitals! |

Stop defending what is Bad! She erred in all ramifications. As the first responder, show empathy, even if you wont do it because you feel you are too big to save a life cos its not your duty, call the subordinate you feel is beneath you to do it. I insist she did everything wrong! Jman06: 1 Like |
