Seun, do South Africans pay to promote their country/brand on nairaland?
What is our business with a brand that we no longer have business with?

Also, why are they allowed to talk down on Nigeria, on a Nigerian forum however they please?

Same question I've wanted to ask. In as much as things are not really good economically in Nigeria right now, we shouldn't allow some idiots from a xenophobic country make fun of us.

Imagine the title the op used for his post. Despite the said company already leaving Nigeria since 2020, he still had the effrontery to mention Nigeria in the post. Absolute nonsense.

Well I don't really blame the op, I blame the owner of Nairaland who allowed foreigners to post on the platform. I'm sure same will never b allowed in South Africa.

No one stopped you from promoting your country, that's assuming you have something worth promoting.

Good for them... Business in Nigeria is for the strong

Weakness is good o!

See how their weak business is growing, meanwhile "isi Ike" pipu dey here dey struggle with their "strong-ness".

Instead of calling out FG and the hostile business environment they set up with their extreme corruption.

Mtn and Dstv should follow no problem
There is a bigger problem, glo, Airtel and others especially glo ain't dependable, again there would be massive job losses

When you hear economists and analyst commenting on the "sequencing" of the PMS subsidy removal and FX unification, it's simply one of the reasons they continually on the subject.

Small businesses and mid-sized corporates are the backbone of most economies as such the need to always have tailor sized intervention programmes for countries and economies.

After the removal of subsidies in Nigeria, if the government doesn't take it's "Nigerians First" Policy serious then the poverty rate, unproductivity and multi-national exit will continually spike.

Reading the comments it is clear most of you do not even recognize when a house is crumbling.
With comments like “good for them now Nigerian brands can grow, MTN and DSTV should follow etc”

Look if these heavy big brands with all their money, technology, information and global experience cannot succeed in Nigeria what makes you think a much smaller brand with much lower pain tolerance and not much money will succeed?

Keep celebrating failures. Instead of learning from them, changing/editing policies as a result of them. You will not make any progress

Nigerian business terrain is tough due to low purchasing power of Nigerians making Nigerians seekers of cheap articles and products, which most often means the business owners must compromise quality in order to get patronage and meet up with competition in Nigeria.

Aside that, as a Nigerian business owner, you battle staff theft whereby every of your employee is busy looking for Avenue to steal from your business; from managers to departments (the worst of them all) to even security personnel.
Then comes the Nigerian government authorities with their never straightforward taxes, levies and whatnot.
Did I mention the banks and their ridiculous charges?

What about your business rivals and competitors looking for every means to bring your business down, they use all conventional and unconventional methods, including going spiritual diabolism, voodooism, witchcraft and thuggery. It's not easy owning a successful business in Nigeria.

Honestly if you see any business owner or company owner in Nigeria making it big and still operating after 10 years of startup, please respect that person
Exactly! I know wetin we don see running a successful hospitality business. Many Nigerians are into deep sorcery and Ogboni.. Forget the outwardly religious nature, they engage in witchcraft and demonism. Before being involved in the business, I never believed in such, but after experiences including fighting them spiritually, I came to believe in it. Too much Ogboni people dey Nigeria. Even when person no show body, they are out there looking for man pikin.

That store that sells rubbish clothes for high amount! Their clothes look old after the first wash. Might as well go for okirika than buy over priced rubbish.

I've been inactive for a while.

At least for the first time they are benchmarking against a country that's in their weight class. If this was a boxing or MMA match it would be featherweight division😂

They have so much similarities that they share with India anyway :-

- love to pander and tether themselves to white papa.
- Both grossly unhygenic
- love to think they are smarter than everyone yet their countries show otherwise.
- both known as the biggest public sh*tters of the world.
