Renowned Highlife legend, Mike Ejeagha, known for transforming Igbo folklore and proverbs into captivating music, has ed away at the age of 95.


Ejeagha died on Friday night at about 8 p.m. at the 32 Garrison Hospital in Enugu, following a prolonged illness.

His eldest son, Emma Ejeagha, confirmed the sad news to Vanguard in a telephone conversation.

Mike Ejeagha was a dominant voice on Nigerian airwaves in the 1980s with his unique style of Igbo folk music that resonated across generations.

Well at 95 he has lived a very long and fulfilled life so there was no better time to have his song celebrated than when it was. Brainjotter did a great job in making people know and celebrate him more and also give him his flowers. I'm sure he died a even happier man...

He must have died fulfilled with how brainjotter brought him to limelight... RIP sir

There are men and women on YouTube interviews around 105-110 years old and they are still very much alive
