Many foods are now waning from our tables not because we are tired of eating them but because it's increasingly becoming unaffordable. ONE of such food is MEAT. Meat used to be much more affordable prior to Tinubu led Government. A kg of meat used to sell around N1500, now it goes for about N6500. How many percentage increament is that? God! In a scenario where one buys meat in bulk and would like to preserve it, how long one can preserve it using drying method as refrigiting is not well guaranteed given the unstable electricity situation. π Anyone using this method? 6 Likes 2 Shares |

You are absolutely right, a kg of meat is β¦6,500. I bought just on Thursday here in Abuja. Yes drying is a great way of preserving meat. It can last for as much as a year if properly dried. 13 Likes 2 Shares |

judatech:Not at all! Make sure it's kept in an airy place & don't let water touch it. Where is your location? 4 Likes |

Which method do you intend to dry the meat? Sun or oven? We don't have the kind of sun that can dry meat here in the south. Too much humidity in the air will rot the meat instead of drying it. How about salting? How long does that preserve meat?

How about frying it well well. Their was dis family in my estate that fit keep illeya meat for almost a year. She fries it & store in them in some containers. Can't tell if it's air tight or not Or U can just get lots of solar s, like 6, they can easily carry 2 freezers during day & normal house appliances. If dis is set up well, U would only need to worry about melting Ur perishables before cooking, as d sun would provide enough electricity during d day 3 Likes |

Hey OP, I am suspecting that you have planned going on serial visitation to all your Muslim friends this Muslim holidays and ofcourse going to harvest plentiful meat. True or false? I understand you perfectly, you need to preserve those meat to last you some good weeks or even months depending on your exploration. Do you know what they called KUNDI....? This is a meat that has gone through serious drying. You don't fry it but dry on fire and garnished with salt and pepper. Ask anybody from the northern part of Naija....they will explain better..... That meat would last till kingdom comes after turning it to KUNDI by serious drying and applying those garnished materials mentioned...... Happy Eid Mubarak or Eid Fitr exploration and meat harvesting... π π π 15 Likes 4 Shares |

Depends. In temperate regions, for much longer periods In Africa, perhaps 2-3 years. Dried ponmo attacks bugs. So, it muxt spoil, someday Tinko stays for longer, I believe 3 Likes |

Ikaeniyan0:True, but it didn't astronomically within a year or two, it took years before it got to 1000k. Unlike Tinubu's time where it increased almost instantaneously due to Oluwole policies. 3 Likes |

Zocalite: Kundi is the same as tiko. Up North, the meat is smoked and then dried with the natural sun. To replicate the process at home, you need an oven. |

gbaskiboy: I have tried that before, it starts to taste phony after some days. |
