Niche marketing, you say?

The number of people in his followers that can afford his cars may not be up to 20.

Do you know the ratio of finding a 70 million naira spender in a group of 1000 Nigerians?

He is obviously doing it for content. And yes, it is not a crime, but then, it can obviously be avoided so we don't set a bar in the future

Tomorrow, someone will target Hausa, Igbo or Yoruba guys. Someone will target Muslims, Nigerians, Africans...

Like I said, he doesn't need to drag anyone to sell his cars.
It's just content, the only reason he's getting dragged is because there's a face to what he does and he's viral...what he's doing is no different from what HypeMen do in clubs, might not agree with his methods, but the NOA targeting him in the manner they did was uncalled for.

Affluent Nigerians are everywhere on the internet .

Asisat Osoala , Victor Boniface , Osimehn , Don Jazzy , to mention a few regularly TikTok lives and can afford that guy’s products . Those are few of his target audience not we the regular joes .

Most regular people who watch his videos just laugh it off.

The fact is there’s nowhere in the world where civil servants are expected to be able to afford luxury cars so I don’t really see any reason for the fuss . If his cars were to be regular 20 year old Toyota and Honda salon cars now and he’s saying “not for civil
Servants “ , one might say he’s mocking them .

There are food items that are halal for Muslims and non halal for non Muslims

I actually laugh when I watch his contents.

But targeting civil servants for an item that 190 million Nigerians cannot afford get as e be.

It's not like that's the funniest part of his contents. He actually s it and you will laugh without him mentioning civil servants.

I have not asked for him to be targeted. I am simply saying a precedent like this could grow into something else in the future.

i grew up upper middle class
i worked in an oil company for 15 years
i have very good cash flow on projects

i personally will not be bothered because it is within my reach. because if i am really and truly inclined, i can buy such a vehicle.

but 90% of nigerians, by dint of their income, career trajectory etal know that car is simply not in their cards.

so why mock people who are already resigned to an unpleasant reality?

You don't mock people and call it marketing their are certain jokes that are off limits- freedom of speech doesn't guarantee you to offend people by demeaning them.

Bros, what is actually the problem?

He doesn't have to pick on anyone to sell his cars. 90% of workers in both the public and private sector cannot afford a 200 million naira car. So, there's no need to taunt civil servants Everytime, or even anyone

I am not pained though. But it is Civil servants today, it could be Doctors tomorrow, it could be men tomorrow, it could be students tomorrow.

He can actually sell his cars without taunting civil servants

Government should pay every civil servant so they can all be able to afford a 100m car cheesy, it’s straight out mockery to taunt people for something that cannot be changed, no level of reform or salary increment would make it possible, so why not mention your target audience and big ballers rather than mentioning people that would never be your target audience

Very simple.

His contents are funny. He would list one funny feature as the reason why you should spend 80 million on a car....Techinologia....

What is the point of mentioning civil servants there? How will that be funny to a civil servant?

If a White guy s a car, and says Nigerians should stay away because they cannot afford it, will that be funny to a Nigerian, even though it's true?

Or someone tags you on a private jet ad, makes it clear that he knows you can’t afford it but keeps tagging you everyday, might be funny at first but it gets to a point. I really don’t know what he wants them to do, maybe steal more or go to extreme means to raise funds to prove him wrong, life no suppose hard

Do you think its okay to "state the obvious" about height when dwarfs might be in the building

Soon we will get to those tribal "stating the obvious"

And from there progress to other "stating the obvious" to Moslems or Christians or Traditional worshippers

Were you offended when it was alleged Trump stated the obvious about Africa and shithole countries? Those who were offended need to work on their self esteem.

Is it possible to his cars and leave the shots thrown at certain people? Or what does he gain from doing that extra "civil servant" jibe

I don talk my own opinion and I do not intend to convince anyone to see things the way I see it.

I have asked someone up there to give us the law under which the "offence" will be charged and I'm yet to receive a convincing and logical answer.

Lumping and mubling up issues that are unrelated will not erase the fact that indeed civil servants cannot afford luxury cars anywhere in the world. Anybody who thinks a marketer pointing out he can't afford the marketer's products is offensive definitely needs to work on his self esteem. I talk am again, I no hide mouth talk am.

Na the koko be this...nothing should concern NOA with the way the guy has chosen to his products. It's one thing for people to have misgivings about the way he does his ads, but it's another thing altogether for the nations NOA to be moving the way they are to what's clearly being said in jest.

Doesn't help too that they chose to respond to the joke in that serious manner. I'm sure they could have created an ad or something that'd hit the right points and it won't come off the way the communique did.

It's just like someone calling Arsenal fans trophyless this season and me as an arsenal fan should be vexing . Or someone taunting Arsenal fans for not winning the UCL till date and make person come dey para like say it is not true grin

Like make Arsenal owners vex to the extent that UEFA would now warn someone like Patrice Evra to sop taunting Arsenal .

Under Buhari few years ago there was a major rush of evaporated milk manufacturers jostling to introduce their respective "smallie" sachet packs targeted specifically at the low-income earners who had to deal with financial constraints faced by many Nigerian households. Is that not a subtle way of saying majority Nigerians are poor and can't afford to buy basic evaporated milk in regular containers?

Abi the lack of subtlety is the major issue people have with the guy's advert ? Like we don't like to be reminded we are poor. grin
