Many years ago, Enugu was ahead of Lagos in southern Nigeria's movie industry. Actors swarmed the town as the industry boomed there. However over time a major challenge emerged that drove the industry elsewhere. Water! Yes, water. So terrible was the lack of water in that town that actors could barely bathe as many hotels had to book for three days advance for water tankers to bring water all the way from far flunged places like Oji river near the Anambra boundary. Eventually the Onitsha-based marketers had to relocate the industry to nearby Asaba as the water crisis in Enugu became unbearable.

Peter Mbah of Enugu state is still beating around the bush with cosmetic projects as Enugu continues to suffer lack of water while its people flee to neighbouring states.

Very wrong assumption from your imagination. I have never heard of any hotel in Enugu complain of lack of water Enugu because even though the city limits of Enugu is hard to dig out water ( bore hole costs more than 10m) but neighboring surburbs like nightmile, Nike, Oji river that’s few kilometers away have water so not an issue in Enugu so I don’t know where you got the baseless assumptions from maybe you probably can’t afford to sleep in a hotel in Enugu

Why not just keep Lagos out of your mouth for once? Na must to always compare everything with Lagos? When una start producing movie self ?

Who told you there is no water in Enugu? The major problem is reticulation and distribution. You can even dig well (or drill borehole at a costly rate to by the coal reserve) just that the water will be hard due to the coal. In my cousin's house then at Abakpa, there is well in front of the house where we fect water from.


They left Enugu due to the increasing hike in things then especially for movie producers, like locations, transport and the likes when the people in the city started taking advantage of their presence, Asaba became a cheaper alternative but they are gradually returning now...

Keep deceiving yourself. Nollywood has left Enugu for good. The Onitsha-based marketers are very comfortable with Asaba. They cannot go back to Egypt. And besides, water is still hard to come by in Enugu. If not, why so many water tankers moving up and down town?

How much is 10m to billionaires? Just chicken change. Each family there can build at least 3 boreholes for each building, since everyone is a billionaire there.

Water is an issue in Enugu. Stop denying the obvious. I am from there. What is 10m to government if it sees water as a priority.

Not sure you're right about this.
I stayed at NOHE Abakpa , not even a single place in that hospital has water.
They depend on water tankers to supply water. I mean a whole national orthopedic hospital.
So water source with the huge bill people pay on daily.
I was so disappointed with the experience, imagine creating an opening on the storage tanks for rain water.
Plus birds, vulture etc will shit inside and we use it to bath and some even cook it.
