Dear brothers and sisters in christ,
It's with an heavy heart I'm typing this to seek wider view and clarity on this issue that has been bothering me and I'd be so grateful if I can learn one or two things from the comment session to upgrade my level of understanding.

Lord Jesus said he never came for the saints only and he even told people to throw the stone at the adulterous woman if they have never sinned before.

My question is, how has being a single mom affect one's service in the vineyard?

For instance, I'm a worker in church, chorister, Sunday school teacher and interpreter.....but I'm a single mom, was not legally married to.

Then, my attention was called to it by an higher spiritual leader that I ought not to be working as a worker in church due to the stigmatization of giving birth out of wedlock and being a single mom.

I weighed the topic and hasn't find clarity... maybe I haven't studied the bible deeper enough.

Men and women of God, what is your opinion on single parenting and christianity?
Are single moms ought to be relegated in God's presence cos of their status?

Please, help me to shed light on it....... if possible, with biblical back ups.

Thanks

Honestly, I felt like being stigmatized but decided not to jump into conclusions.

If the people of the world could see single moms as lesser human...y d church? Where else can one feel safe and serve God with ease? I never chose to be a single mom, life happened to me...I don't think this ought to affect my relationship with God.

Maybe I haven't grown better in spirit sha...was my reason for creating the thread.

You spiricoco individuals are no different from ordinary people. When confronted with discrimination and probably bullying, you look for ways to not only rationalize it but also use the name of your deity to continue handing power over to your oppressors/bullies. You are already looking for spiricoco-laced reasons to retreat in defeat. Na wa oo! πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„

To serve in such a sensitive position in the church your faith and lifestyle is what young ones in the church need to emulate so if you as a single mother is serving as the choir master others may feel there is nothing bad in having children out of wedlock but according to God's word children needs the attention of both their father and mother for them to grow spiritually. I'm not saying you are not worthy to be called a believer but then there are certain things that doesn't just fit in as younger ones may not understand what led to your predicament they will just feel there is nothing wrong whereas it's a serious matter! undecided

Hmmmmmmmmmmm
Like, listen to my teaching and not emulate my lifestyle.

I wept bitterly and had sleepless nights over this topic cos, in all sincerity, I dread single parenting a lot and that was what made me endured the relationship hoping things would get better.

I pray God Almighty see my heart and make a way for me...I love my department, especially the Sunday school and interpretation.

It's OK!
God can read through your heart but man can't so don't think that spiritual leader hate you giving you such a privilege is somehow detrimental to the spiritual health of the church as i have explained to you. undecided

Then, get the person that impregnated you out of wedlock to marry you and stop asking foolish question... A woman who commits adultery can be divorced... She can't remarry and the man that divorced her also can't remarry. Whoever marry her commits adultery... In your own case now, are you wanting to marry...? I think yours is fornication...Can what is applicable to adultery be applicable to fornication? That means you would never be able to marry again and whoever marries you commits fornication...or is it adultery...? So, you should worship your god where people won't know or castigates you for fornication and having child out of wedlock or as a result of fornication...

See what I mean? Religion and discrimination are cut from the same cloth. That the spiricoco crowds pretend their acts of discrimination are justified by some unverified higher power DOES NOT remove from the fact that it is all nothing but the same... discrimination. grin

The reason you cling to your places of worship... the reason you call out people like OP... is you need them to hide your fears, which you feel need to be hidden from the world. You are afraid of what letting people like OP out of your control could do to your lives and your worship places. That is what it is. undecided

Those who cling to religion typically share the same common set of fears. undecided

2. What did OP tell you that she does in the worship center place she teaches? undecided

3. Come there to hang out and drink beer or read a comic book while listening to people crying/pretending that by praying to the god β€” their pastors β€”of the establishment for many hours of each week/day, they achieve something? Been there, done that! grin

Why did you abandon your faith?

Kobojunkie:
I definitely did not inherit my belief as my parents were not really believers, more atheists in the beginning. My mum first came to God but I am one who is not easily convinced and so it wasn't until 4 years ago, that I could actually started believing INΒ  God who I now know does exist. I have always been one of those who seek proof and understanding of proof before belief can follow and I believe it took me deciding it was time to know or bust for me to see and know for sure that God is. I had concluded that if there was no God, then I was not only here for no reason but also living a meaningless and worthless existence but if there was a God, then it would follow that there was a reason for my existence and I needed to find out what it was. I decided to ask God to prove himself to me and He did in so many ways and today, I can say I am a believer cause I actually asked God himself to show me his glory and he did over and over again. No vision or dreams, just answers to prayers and opening my mind to knowledge of what has always been but my mind had been closed to.
Kobojunkie: 4:28pm On May 29
Why did you abandon your faith?
That was the god of depression, which I discovered while researching the religion of Christianity. My mind created for me the delusion of god. Fortunately, as I worked hard through the years on overcoming depression and the psychosis that led to that delusion, I lost that god, too. The delusion was born of the many fears and anxieties, shame, guilt, sadness, etc., that ravaged my severely depressed mind at that point in my illness. I am glad those days are behind me. I could never wish that kind of faith on even my worst enemy. grin

Well TRUE faith is not a possession of all kinds of people! 2Thessalonians 3:2

So you don't really belong to the house of faith where people from different geographical locations on this planet get to know and love themselves as one big and happy family that's a reason to be depressed! undecided

Storyland of the deluded! πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„

If a depressed mind was able to conjure a delusion mirroring what you refer to as your faith in all exactness, except for your particular fixation with belonging to this house of faith and this idea of people coming from different geographical locations, what does that there say of your so-called faith if not that it is nothing more than a delusion at its core, no matter the labels you superficially affix to it. grin

Kobojunkie, what is the relationship between the God you said answered your prayers and prove Himself to you and does exist to you, and The LORD JESUS CHRIST...? Has that God tells you why you were created...so you now know your purpose...? What is your purpose according to the God you believe does exist...?
