Defections: One Party State ‘ll suffocate Nigerians, lead to anarchy – Jonathan warns FORMER President Goodluck Jonathan has warned that any attempt or manipulation to go through the back door to impose a one-party system into the nation’s political space will surely suffocate the country and possibly lead to confusion and anarchy. Giving his tribute yesterday in Abuja during the Memorial Lecture and Day of Tribute for the late former Federal Commissioner for Information and South South Leader, Chief Edwin Clark, the former President who noted that a one party state may not be an evil thing because Julius Nyerere of Tanzania used it unite his country because of many tribes, but was procedural and not through manipulation. According to Jonathan, if one party state has become desirable for the country, the process must be thorough, it must be systemic, not by accident political manipulations The fear of the former President is coming against the backdrop of the gale of defections sweeping through the ranks and strongholds of the country’s opposition parties, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the Labour Party, LP and the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. Jonathan who described late South South Leader as his father, said that there was no need to look for any replacement for Clark because that will not be achievable because he was a unique personality, with very sharp memory that no one can beat, just as he said that he was courageous, ready to tackle anybody, anytime https://www.vanguardngr.com/2025/05/defections-one-party-state-ll-suffocate-nigerians-lead-to-anarchy-jonathan-warns/#google_vignette 2 Likes |

Tinubu is just thinking of himself and not the country. The current istration's policies seem to prioritize personal interests over national development. Industrialization requires reliable infrastructure, such as a stable power supply. Additionally, promoting local production while relying heavily on imported goods raises concerns about consistency and feasibility. The president's personal choices, such as using foreign-made cars while advocating for locally assembled ones, may be seen as contradictory. The policies on rice and other essential goods have shown that without power nothing can work in this country. Some argue that the istration lacks a clear plan to citizens' well-being and economic survival. 4 Likes 1 Share |

There's nothing wrong with a one party state. The PDP is in shambles and people like you have refused to intervene in the party affairs. PDP will keep on losing politicians if they keep on with this their ways.

All these PDP stalwarts shouting one party state should be ashamed of themselves. If you truly do your jobs well as opposition party and put your house in order, will there be a one party state?

Ibechris2:You hit the nail straight on the head. The istration is a rogue one, run by rogues. Leadership is by example and Tinubu is a bad example the same way Buhari abused the word "diversify". No clear cut policy, just anyhow orders from above. After they'll shout education. See how educated they are?!. 3 Likes |

lazkizz: The god of Politics. 2027 is teaching the fake opposition how it is done. 2031 is the target. Tinubu will teach the Northern Oligarchy what is called Politics. Since the Northern Oligarchy worked tirelessly for Atiku Abubakar to become President after Buhari’s 9 years, you will see as Tinubu will conduct election and handover to the North Central. It will be a Yoruba man from Kwara or an Ibo man from Kogi or Benue, after all Kwara, Kogi and Benue are Northern states. That is when they will know who is the Chess Master 1 Like |

This oga should go and sleep.. so as Atiku is suffocating the Southerners in PDP, they shouldn't look for options?. As Bode George rightly said, 2027 will determine the future of PDP.. if Atiku likes, he should not listen, when all the Governors decamp and only APC remains, I'll see how any Northerner will get to Aso rock again. If we want to pepper them up North, we can pick Igbo man as APC flag bearer in 2031, let's see how those ing Atiku will feel. |

yarimo: He's far more patriotic than your drugbag who once vowed he didn't believe in One Nigeria and is now running a tribal government under the guise of a national president. Jonathan's govt was able to recognise the country's diversity and ran an all inclusive government, as a patriot. What Buhari and the drugbag did has shown none of you from those 2 regions is truly patriotic, but feign it to grab power and advance their ethnic and religious interests. |
