Interesting thread I stumbled upon. Nice weekend read..

Still didn't find an answer to the question on why they care?

Well...some Africans countries are deep neck into Chinese pocket, China may not be successful in interfering in some micro-economical policies of some African countries but they have a strong grip of their economy.

Au contraire; I (and the whole of Canada I'm sure) eagerly await a status update from impending departure - it seems to be taking a long while.

Look at Ford or Citroen, they are price friendly even if it's automatic.

Evening Everyone.

Can anyone please recommend a reliable automatic, petrol family car? The budget is about Β£2500.

Had car challenges over the past months...Stories for another day.

Thank you!

Oga Lexus.

Please with regard to renewing port, you made a post a while ago about the hassle of name change and renewing of port. I had saved it but can't seem to find it anymore.
Please could you share it again as i am contemplating if changing my name (been married for 3 years) on renewal is worth the hassle.
P.S- I am expecting a baby in summer and my port expires Oct 5. I may not have the strength for all the running around to London to have it changed.
Please can you highlight what a name change will process is like.

Thank you.

Unfortunately, it would almost take me forever to track this post, due to level of engagement(except chatgpt is deployed) .....πŸ˜‚

But I would drop my Β£0.02....... Change of name, does not really give your any leverage, it's simply psychological, twinned with a lot of hassle....

If your husband is not demanding a name change (pls, don't do it)...... πŸ˜‚πŸ€”

Whoever thought that Trump will not be happy when the citizens realise they are the ones paying the tariffs. This single move by Amazon to include the tariff difference on prices of items is a big blow to him and he's clearly not happy. People are suggesting it should be labelled trump tax.

Good evening my people.

Please I want to find out which app is best in the preparation of a theory driving test in the UK.

Also, please which areas in London have a relatively high success rate in the practical driving test.

Please, someone can just walk me through it. I have the provisional already, and I want to have the full license latest in 3 months time.

Going to Naija with expired pali was very easy and straightforward..coming back, they wanted money at every point. Anyways, used it both ways!

UK-Nigeria partnership to detect, disrupt and deter fraud
An agreement between the UK and Nigeria will help to better protect UK citizens from fraud as law enforcement collaboration is stepped up.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to cancel a port appointment in London? The option doesn’t seem to be available on their website, and there’s no option to reschedule either. My plan was to cancel and use the self-service option, but it’s been impossible to get in touch with them. Does anyone know how to them? I’ve tried both email and phone without success. Thanks in advance.

Na 'Carneyland' finally.... I dont know which 'expat' to carry for head now- British expat, Nigerian expat, even Canadian expat abi expat pro max. grin
Trump did a good one there sotay even the conservative leader lost his seat. Carney has a brill CV though, to be headhunted to be BOE head while not being British says it all.

Abeg free our lady....hehe. Lady who has refused to tell us how she + family stumbled upon a British kpali. Whether is was a boat arrival aka windrush or anchor baby situation... who knows

True... the wider conversation would be how African nations can generate funding for infrastructure inhouse by driving growth. Might seem a chicken and egg issue but definitely doable. In the interim, the of loans we seek should be improved on irrespective of origin

Last trip earlier this year, none of the officers from the various agencies asked us for money. There are cameras everywhere in the places where you interact with them and they were scrupulous about not requesting anything - even indirectly. All our interactions were refreshingly professional.

Several officers were suspended last year and enforcement is much stricter now, per the announcements.

My experience is that where people often have to pay is because they're trying to do things that are against the rules e.g. parking, luggage issues, having more people than allowed accompany them into the terminal etc.

This your narrative is very correct especially about the cameras being used. A friend who just recently returned said the same thing

That is the key point there, loan condition is where the body is buried and have you noticed that most of these contracts are carried out by Chinese companies? Airport, rail , road contractions etc are done by Chinese companies.

Totally with you on this, my last trip about 3yrs ago was a positive experience at the airport, they were so helpful without asking for a penny.

When i was coming back it was even better as an airport worker who helped me massively carrying my bags and stuff refused to accept the money i gave him because they are not allowed to do that...i pretty much begged him to accept it, he did but said he has to tell his boss.

I was impressed.
