Hello Fuego07.
It is not a new policy but a new awakening from the US embassy. Consulars have heard too many same stories of coming back to take higher position and having worked for many years in a particular company or organisation.
Both qualified and unqualified F1-visa applicants says almost the same, hence the US embassy does not want to deny the innocent unnecessarily (like B4) by now ing (placing you on 221g) the trend. Good LucK.
It is probably also because of the course is IT related and on the Technology Alert List. I am no sure but I would say Congratulations in Advance to the candidate

Yes you have a very valid point. You know you cannot list all the reasons when giving out opinion, and in all honesty i have forgotten this part. Thank you for the additional info 👍

I had this same exact issue on the 27th of March.
My case was a fully funded PhD offer with no deficits.
I have been trying to understand what exactly is the issue.
Also I mentioned something along the line of “coming back to Nigeria” to start a consulting firm. I rushed through the delivery while speaking, the VO asked that I calm down and specifically asked if I would be seeking employment in the private or public sector, of which I stated Private sector.
I was already smiling internally when I saw the VO reaching for a white paper, alas it was an “istrative processing” paper. My port and I-20 were “detained”

Also had this processing issue in March. Fully funded as well. Could it be a new policy?

Hey guys, trust you are good? I hope this post meets you well. I just need your well-thought-out advice. Below is my profile:
Graduating year on transcript: 2022
CGPA:4.22
Course: Mechatronics Engineering
Last 2 years CGPA: 4.69
Publication: Conference paper on AI (CNN model) in IEEE.
Achievement: BGS of the Department that year
Now, I have a paper (I feel very confident in this paper on AI too) that I am currently working on, to be published in high tier journal in order to boost my portfolio.
Here is the issue. I am going to be 29 in few months time, and I have not even tried applying to any US schools even though I’ve been asked to. I have this crazy feeling that I should get this 2nd paper published first (and make sure to use it as an opportunity to connect with my long time never-talked-to professor (s) in hoot to get their recommendation letters) before applying, but man, this paper is really taking my time. I am worried that my time might me by. Am I wasting my time considering my age and every other thing?
Do I really stand a good chance if I apply to a US school?
Ps:
I have seen schools that waived GRE, so I don’t have it in mind. Thanks.

Hello everyone
Thanks to everyone who has contributed, it has been very helpful.
I will appreciate if anybody could give me better insight into this 👇
I have received ission for an Msc In Exercise science with no funding yet. The COA is around 40k, I have a relative( not same surname) who is helping.
Should I list him alone or add personal funding on my I-20.
I can either use his to show the 40k or use 10k from mine and 30k from his
Is both similar outcome?
Btw, I am a Physiotherapist in Nigeria with with 3 years work experience going for an Msc in exercise science.
I'd appreciate all advice

I would advice you show both that way it shows you have being making money from your profession and you just needed a helping had but you must be able to defend his financial status well. you could go through transcript on the section and you would notice most people used same pattern. am also using same thing

Please, can you send the link to the transcript thread

No they don't.
I'm yet to see a transcript here where any Consular officer said your age is a factor. Predominantly their questions are WHY do you want to study that course, and Funding questions.
It's people here that have said such, mentioning things like that based on our own perspective what is a reasonable age for education
Some of your consular officers have no more that high school education

They do not ask but it influences their judgement of your profile.
You can't be 30 and going for a Bsc
Or 30 and your parents are sponsoring all your deficit with no input from you.
So yes, Age affects your application at the consulate.

I'm not sure why you mentioned that your age. At 29 you're still young.
You have a good profile, so except you're aiming for certain schools, I don't see anything that should be holding you back from applying as soon as you can. The situation with future funding for higher education in the US is very uncertain, so I would advice to also have options outside.
