Someone was managing my blog as I don't have much knowledge on how to navigate the site other than post. I gave him money to renew the hosting he disappeared with the money. I didn't have any other money to do so and waited till now. The site expired 6 September, 2024 I just ed bluehost and was told my content is no more on their server as it was deleted 23rd October 2024. My question is, can I get it back from expired domain site? I have read how domains that have expired are being auction after some months or years. |

If your website has expired, there are various steps you can take to try to retrieve it, depending on the circumstances. Here’s a general approach: 1. Check Domain Expiration Status WHOIS Lookup: Use a WHOIS lookup tool (like whois.domaintools.com) to check the current status of your domain. It will show you if the domain is still in the grace period or if it's available for re-registration. Grace Period: If your domain has expired, you may have a grace period (usually 30-90 days) during which you can renew it without significant penalties. 2. Renew the Domain If you find that the domain is still within the grace period, you can typically renew it through your domain registrar. 3. Your Hosting Provider If your website was hosted and you had not only expired the domain but also the hosting, your hosting provider directly. They might be able to help you restore the website if it's still within their backup retention period. 4. Backup Recovery If you had backups of your website stored locally or with your hosting provider, you can restore the website from those backups. 5. Wayback Machine Visit the Internet Archive Wayback Machine. Enter your website URL to see if snapshots of your site were taken. You can retrieve old content and possibly rebuild your site from it. 6. Rebuild the Site If your domain is available for re-registration and you lost access to your website, you may need to rebuild it. Gather content from archived pages or backups if available, and recreate your site on a new platform or hosting service. 7. Consider Domain Acquisitions If your domain is no longer available (i.e., it has been ed by someone else), you may consider ing the new owner to see if they are willing to sell it back to you. 8. DNS Settings Review If the issue was DNS-related (e.g., incorrect settings leading to site unavailability), check your DNS records through your domain registrar or hosting provider to ensure everything is configured correctly. Final Tips: Keep a record of renewal dates and set reminders to renew your domains and hosting subscriptions to avoid this situation in the future. Consider using auto-renew services if your registrar or hosting provider offers them. Through these steps, you should be able to recover your expired website or at least get started on rebuilding it. |

The domain is still active, I paid for 3 years and it was already 1 year down. The challenge was hosting renewal, it expired in September and the company deleted it in October. I have started another blog, thanks for the input |

imhere:Depends if it had been index and crawled before been deleted. You wouldn't know if you submitted your content to Google for indexing? You can send your domain name to me if you don't want to drop it here then I can check it |
