in all this, how Chelle manage use Mali to beat SA 2-0 at the afcon needs to be studied..
after tomorrow’s game with Zimbabwe if it comes out as a convincing win for us, guys forget Eric Chelle will be tagged a silent beast coach

SA lost to Mali in their first match at the AFCON right? I think then they were still finding their feet and hadn't settled into their stride.

In their next match, they dispatched Namibia 4 - 0 and thereafter played goalless with Tunisia.

In the round of 16, they defeated tournament favourites Morocco 2 nil. I watched that game. and they were really impressive.

Q/F, they dispatched Cape Verde by penalties in a game they should have lost,

S/F, they played their best game against Nigeria cos Hugo Bross changed their formation to mirror ours by playing a 5-3-2 which was the first time we encountered a team playing that formation so it proved difficult for us.

3rd place match, They reverted to their normal formation. SA played terribly and Congo DR should have won if not for profligacy in front of goal really. SA eventually won via penalty.

After the Nations cup, they've only lost once, which was to Rwanda away in match day 2 of the WCQs.

This SA team is a problem. Make Rohr and Benin Republic just do the Lord's work for us by defeating them or playing a draw.

Who are the teams, we're most likely to meet in the play-offs?

South Africa seems to be in scintillating form.

They've become our albatross and beating them has become difficult in recent times.

I still recall how they frustrated us at the AFCON and the WCQ in Uyo.

They controlled the game and played us out of the park during the first half of the WCQ, largely due to Finidi's incompetence and ineptitude.

They're a really good team and I do mot see them losing away. In fact, I think the worst result they'll get sway from home is a draw and I even forsee them picking at least one win away from home in their remaining matches.

The only team that can beat them in the group is Nigeria. amd Chelle must have perfected his tactics and settled on the best personnel to interpret and execute his game plan before we play them.

Finidi George and Peseiro no try for us at all with this predicament wey dem put us.

Rwanda defeated them 2 nill in Kigali on match day 2. I wish Rwanda to remain a contender, it will motivate them when them meet SA in the reverse fixture.

In all sincerity, we are moving on too fast.

We need to know the guys that sat round that table and decided that Finidi George was the best fit to give something as a crucial World cup qualifiers to. Today we only heap blame on FG, but whoever those guys were in the NFF, we need to know their names so we can mark it for having terrible judgement despite the fact that we missed out in 2022. That ought to set a precedent on how fragile the wcq should be taken. That ought to inspire and influence their decision making. But, they decided on FG and now here we are.

Now, if anything sup, they'll probably be the 1st to heap blame on the players when in fact, it is their ineptitude that contributed to all these palava.

Suddenly, their faith in Chelle go kon high as if no be them sabotage this whole process.

They are saboteurs. They should be ashamed of themselves. Yeah we will face front but that will be too easy on them. Such crew should be far away from our football.

Heck they can't even decide a coach for the Super Falcons till now. Smh

I watched what Cape Verde dey do. Those guys are super technical abeg. They way they move in the box and how they trust each other's judgement, i wish we have that.

I saw the Egypt game and i was wondering how too many shots on target.... Omo!

Also watched the senegal and Sudan game... Those guys sabi defend and rely on aerial es. It's their forte.

Play-offs spot isn't sure for any team in our group. Teams like Gabon, Mozambique are really pushing for the top 4, Benin is currently 8th out of the top 4 2nd placed teams.

Na for Nairaland, AE lift formation play Ghana for WCQ in Abuja.
Odion Ighalo said He was surprised to see AE change formation few hrs to that crunch formation after they have finalized and perfected the formation they were going to play Ghana with.
Don't be surprised Eric Chelle visits this thread too.

He's from Mali tho. Would he seriously know about Nairaland?

How popular is Nairaland outside of Nigeria?

That's interesting...so SA has lost once after AFCON. So many interesting coincidence.. although Nigerian team has lost thrice since AFCON. We have lost to Chelle's Mali.
Lost to Benin as well as Rwanda at home.

I hope South Africa follows this pattern , they lost to Chelle's Mali at AFCON , lost to Rwanda and now I pray they lose to Benin...just like Nigeria. πŸ˜‹πŸ™πŸ˜ž

We have moved away from overcautiousness and i think its a good thing that Chelle is ready to move players around. We didnt play badly at all, though Osimhen's return was a huge factor in the win

We need natural midfielders like ebenezer akinsanmiro, chrisantus uche for this his diamond formation. They should be tried in the friendlies in June.
Akinsanmiro is a rookie but we should see what he does un the friendly. Using chukwueze as a midfielder in a diamond 4 4 2 is not proper. Lts see what akinsanmiro can do. Uche too in midfield. There is also onechhu ogbelu in Tunisia.

Agreed we need workaholic midfielders for that set up.
