Renaissance, an indigenous oil and gas company, has denied reports of a gas explosion at its gas plant in Rivers State, following claims of a blast at the facility on Sunday.

Earlier reports had suggested that an explosion occurred at the Soku Gas Pipeline, operated by Renaissance, citing one Christian Otiasah, an environmental manager in Soku community

However, Renaissance swiftly clarified that there was no explosion or fire at its gas facility.

The company stated that its operations were running smoothly and that all facilities were secure.

“We wish to categorically state that there was no gas explosion or fire incident at our Soku facility. Our operations are ongoing without any disruption, and all safety protocols remain in place,” Bamidele Odugbesan, communications manager at Renaissance.

The company further emphasized its commitment to safety and environmental standards, assuring stakeholders and the public that its facilities are regularly monitored to prevent such incidents.

Renaissance also urged the media and the public to information before spreading unconfirmed reports, which could cause unnecessary panic.

Also, the leadership of the Soku community in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State has also refuted reports of an explosion at the Soku gas facility, calling them misleading and urging the public to disregard such claims.

Reacting to allegations that an explosion Saturday night into the wee hours of Sunday, hit a gas pipeline, Witness Alasia, the general secretary of the community categorically denied the incident.

In a statement issued on behalf of the community leadership, Alasia described the reports as “baseless and untrue,” emphasising that the Soku Gas Plant remains in perfect working condition.

Read Full statement below…

On behalf of The Leadership of the SOKU Kingdom, I write to debunk the falsehood escalating in all social media that there was an explosion in the SOKU Gas Plant.

It is disheartening and worrisome that People will mischievously misinforming the public with a baseless and untrue story.

SOKU Gas Plant is Safe and in a Perfect Working Condition. The Public should disregard this unguided and untrue report.

Though there was a fire outbreak in one of the Gas pipe line along SOKU-Abua-Rumuji Right of way. The Cause of the explosion is unknown and the Company also has not come up with any useful information.

We use this Medium to inform the public that Soku and her Satellite Communities are Safe and Calm.

Regards;
Mr. Witness Alasia N.
General Secretary

A bad time to be a wailer, these people are bent on setting Rivers on fire with their fabricated fake news. They wanted peace in their own states but they are praying for crisis in another man's state. They're very disappointed that there's no chaos in River State after five days of state of emergency.

Fear of Jagaban cheesy

Sim biggest undoing was when he gave a speech saying he will tell the youths what to do when it is time and then two pipelines explosions later on and he is gone.

All that burning and demolishing house of Assembly Chambers does not affect Jagaban and Nigeria directly and so no punishment comes with it directly but with pipeline explosion and semblance of economic sabotage, that is unpardonable so Sim is gone grin

Jagaban no dey play with money o, no dis and have peace.

I knew it was a fake news, I said it here when it made the headline.

TimeManager:

Losers, this has nothing to do with militants. Same fake news you celebrated about PH refinery pipeline explosion. Fubara will complete his six months suspension and nothing will happen.

-Kiss the truth!

Stop the fake news, emergency lovers of Rivers State.

Some people planting false news in the media like the claim that a section of NNPC Refinery in Rivers State was in flame and that there was an explosion at one gas plant want Rivers State to burn to justify the wrong decision of the state of emergency.

The state of emergency brought peace to Rivers State. Those threatening fire and brimstone have recoiled to their holes. The warring parties have all returned home as they have become unemployed. Their ers have also kept mute. Eddison Ehie, chief of staff to suspended governor has refuted the claim that Fubara took court action. Wike cannot even say anything as politics in River state has been suspended.

According to Abiodun Jelili Owonikono SAN, the decision of a state of emergency was a political one and not a constitutional one. If the case reaches the Supreme Court, they'd decide if the declaration was politically necessary to resolve the crisis. They'd decide on the best approach for sustainable peace, especially as the constitution did not say what the president would do to the governor during a state of emergency.

the doctrine of necessity during David Mark's time when there was a constitutional logjam during the prolonged absence of former President Yar'adua.

So sometimes, some decisons have to be taken for political and security expediency. Fubara understands this which is why he has not challenged his suspension.

Someone’s trying to stir up chaos, but with President Tinubu’s focus on boosting safety and regulation in the oil sector, things might just be under control more than they seem.
