Abuja Embassy? Were you seeking visa for Abuja? You wouldn't have been asked how your education would be funded if you had provided evidence of the funding you had, I think. You said, is not evidence. 2 Likes |

otipoju: No, I haven't ever applied for a US school before, but I doubt I'd ever apply for a US school at Abuja Embassy. I'd likely go to the USA embassy in Abuja instead, and with all my ducks in a row, since I'm certain they can't wait to refuse me otherwise. |

budaatum: Her message was loud and clear. Na you dey find wetin no loss. Without her spilling the back story, we understand how she got an interview. Which is the Kokomo of her enquiry...how does she prepare for a successful outcome at her next interview. 6 Likes 1 Share |

otipoju: She gets her facts and documents straight for starts, instead of hoping her message is clear when it obviously isn't. If she answered questions like she's mentioned Abuja Embassy here, they'd assume she's ill prepared and will likely refuse her, again. |

Recheck the contents of your DS-160. I was once denied because the response to a question did not fully tally with what I wrote in the DS-160. Private chat me let me review it for you...then you can reapply.

budaatum: There is no how you will get an I-20 from the school to go for an interview without submitting evidence of finances...so assuming that she did not have it is because you simply don't know the procedure and that is why I asked if you have ever applied before. Her answers were way too short and tepid. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Ola1ola1: Firstly the question is who is sponsoring you, then your straight forward answer should have been your parent. If the next question is what they do for a living then you can proceed with what they do for a living. But then that your father supplies most SW state with fabrics is not just beyond me. If you say your dad is a contractor and runs so so and so business which execute contracts in area of fabrics among other government need is a bit reasonable and believable than what you told him or her. Am not saying your father is not into what you claim but it's a bit exaggerated and to the consular that's a red flag 12 Likes 2 Shares |

Your response to ...OK, so who would be paying for your tuition is why you are denied. Many visa hopefuls from Nigeria are using this line a lot, and it's a straight refusal. What you can do is, ask your parent to transfer your tuition to your personal and present this to your school for an updated F1 I-20, it will read personal funds, and if your dad has more you can include his too, you will have personal fund and family fund or sponsor stated on your I-20. If you do this, you are in a strong position for visa approvals. The Embassy wants to see strong commitments from your sponsor, not these rhetorics and bla bla bla. Ola1ola1: 2 Likes 1 Share |

otipoju: I'm not the one she applied for visa from. If she had the required evidence, she should have provided it when asked, and would hopefully learn for next time instead of giving too short and tepid answers unbacked with evidence. |

budaatum: Why not simply ask her instead of assuming that she did not present. 2 Likes |

EmperorIsaac: Where you later approved? |
budaatum: 12:00am On Mar 15 |
otipoju: I doubt I need to simply ask, since I wouldn't be giving her the visa she requires. Besides, she already implied she did not present by her "he has set aside sufficient funds". If she'd provided evidence of her set aside funds she would not have been asked for it again. |
budaatum: 12:01am On Mar 15 |
davodyguy: Unfortunately, people tend to think like they write, incorrectly. |
otipoju(m): 1:04am On Mar 15 |
budaatum: She was not asked for anything again. She was told she was going to be denied and her documents were returned to her. |

Your parents needs to show a strong commitment towards your education and the only way to convince VO that the money is available is to be stacked in your bank , at least 50%. Your father gifted you and he has deposited 50% to your to show commitment, this will cater for your first year of education (2 semesters). So on your I-20 it will read personal fund and Sponsor or family fund. This puts your visa approvals in a strong position. A general statement about your sponsor financial capacity wont fly without a strong commitment to proof the money is available. This applies if you are going for BSc and it also answer your concern of not working. Ola1ola1: |

otipoju:That's why her documents should all be in order to start with. She could after all included documentation showing her funds source, as some have advised here. I hope Ola1ola1 has learnt from this thread, and I wish better outcome next time. |
otipoju(m): 2:40pm On Mar 15 |
budaatum: I don't know why I am bothering to do this with you. Proof of funds is not an optional document for a student visa interview. It is an integral part of the application. Presenting it does not guarantee a visa approval. I've had someone get a full masters scholarship ,yet was denied. In her case, what I see is too short and tepid answers that failed to change the mind of a visa officer who already had an inclination not to issue the visa. |
