Nigeria’s economic future took a significant step forward today as the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun unveiled a comprehensive economic plan at the 2025 KPMG Arise TV Budget News Day.
The Minister outlined Nigeria’s fiscal priorities and economic direction for the coming year.
Economic Roap: Stability and Growth
HM Edun reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fiscal discipline, revenue mobilization, and an improved investment climate. He highlighted a projected GDP growth of 4.6% for 2025, with a long-term ambition of 7% annually, a crucial target for poverty reduction and sustainable development.
He emphasized that macroeconomic stability remains a top priority, with exchange rate stability, trade surplus, and increased oil production positioning Nigeria as a stronger global player. Foreign reserves have exceeded $40 billion, signalling confidence in economic policies and financial management.
Driving Private Sector Investment and Infrastructure Growth
A key theme of Edun’s address was the role of the private sector in driving economic expansion. He highlighted public-private partnerships (PPPs) as a critical tool to close Nigeria’s $100 billion annual infrastructure investment gap. Landmark projects such as the Benin-Asaba Highway and Lagos-Abeokuta Road are set to be developed under PPP frameworks, reducing travel time and boosting productivity.
In the oil and gas sector, HM Edun emphasized the importance of domestic refining, with the Dangote Refinery now leading local crude petroleum processing. This shift will significantly reduce reliance on imports, strengthen energy security, and enhance economic resilience.
Fiscal Reforms and Revenue Strategy
Edun also addressed fiscal policy reforms, stressing the government’s drive to expand the tax base, streamline revenue collection, and create a business-friendly tax system. He noted that a balanced approach to taxation will encourage investment while ensuring adequate funding for national priorities.
A Future Built on Stability and Innovation
As Nigeria moves forward, HM Edun reaffirmed the government’s dedication to economic transformation, driven by policies that foster growth, stability, and private sector participation. Building on strategic reforms, Nigeria is poised to unlock new opportunities for prosperity, accelerate national development, and secure a brighter future for generations to come.

All word salad with nothing to show. Tinubu and his lagos boys are massively overrated. All hype with no substance. Two years and counting and they are still unveiling economic blueprints. Going round in circles and arriving at the same place. Where is the Bola Tinubu that they told us has the ability to identify talents to work with?

After all media PR noise and rumblings, here are the Political reality on ground:
1.) PDP will not dissolve its party and SDP. Not even Atiku can make them do that.
2.) None of the PDP governors are moving to an Elrufai comic SDP, and if Atiku s SDP, only a selective few will the SDP from PDP.
3.) When, and If Atiku leaves PDP, the governors of the party will consolidate on who becomes their presidential candidate at the party’s convention. “No wonder Fintiri and Bala Muhammed are being wayward towards Atiku”😮💨🤣
3.) None of the APC governors is moving to SDP, in fact they are rejoicing that the midget has gone.
4.) The current Northern APC leadership that have 2031 aspiration are the happiest amongst all. One less trouble maker is out.
5.) Elrufai political oblivious move to SDP is to Tinubu’s advantage. To simply put. Kaduna Gustavo is unknowingly working for BAT 😹
6.) If Peter obi and his obingo mobs Elrufai-SDP, then they should forget Christian votes in the North, middle-belt and Most states in SS, Imo and Ebonyi.😹
7.) The Christians across Nigeria will VOTE against any party that has Elrufai as a member. (Leave that one for us)🤲🏽😹
8.) I don’t think RMK will dissolve his hard earned party for a Short man like El rufai. Even if he does, it doesn’t stop PDP from retaining their 2nd position at the general election.🥴
9.) At the end of the day, we now have a more divided opposition. ✅
10.) APC will further cleanse its party from rotten eggs within. ✅
11.) When Bitter Obi s SDP and they loose, he becomes politically irrelevant and the fight in that party will be worth more than any comedy movie in the world 🤣
12.) Atiku has two options, either to politically retire in PDP or SDP. Whichever one is still considered 😹

😆....this was the same mofo that stated confidently on his of "devaluation" of Naira, claiming that he was sure that if that happened, the rates will skyrocket for a few months but would settle back to around N800 to $1 within 3 months.
It is nearly 2 years, the rate has remained N1600ish to $1 since then.
Believe all these Tinubu's "technocrats" at your peril....

The Federal Government says it has no intention to borrow from any local or foreign organisation with its removal of subsidy on petrol and exchange rate harmonisation.
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Chief Wale Edun, revealed this at the end of the inaugural Federal Executive Council meeting on Monday in Abuja.
He said that the benefit of the subsidy removal would be ploughed back into various sectors aimed at boosting government revenue and improving the business environment for local and foreign investment.
Edun said that with the increased revenue from subsidy removal, various palliatives have been made available to cushion its effect on a short, medium and long-term basis.
He reiterated the President Bola Tinubu-led istration’s desire to bring back the economy from the wood it has found itself over time.

I swear my brother. I can still that press interview he have when he was still a special adviser on Economy to the President (few weeks after the inauguration before he was nominated as a minister) on Channels TV then. He kept on boasting of how their ideas will revolutionise the Nigerian economy , particularly, he emphasied that Naira was overvalued like 10 times in that interview . He predicted that it would come down to 800 to a USD afywr a few months and people should not worry but to expect the best economy when they would manage it.
It is 2 years down the line, the econony went from the best in Africa to the the 5th position just under 1 year....and it's getting worse.
